At 2.75 with the same voltage core 0 fails instantly. I'm afraid this chips overclock may suffer because of one weak core. :(
2.7 on stock volts still ain't bad. We all have high expectations for VPMWs because some of them are so insane. I have tested out another after my first one in the sig, and it just can't compare.

MeatFrog, you are quite welcome, i hope it gets up higher! Remember these things are very temp sensitive, but you're getting good temps on your BT.
It was an 028x batch number. Doesn't clock like my 029x tho.
Put yours in neal.
I need to wait till at least tomorrow as I hope to remove my DFI chipset HSF and use an evercool copper HSF...just not happy with temps even with AS ceramique I used on the DFI HSF fan
BTW..another very nice OC..I would be very happy at 1.4v(although I assume this is likely 1.43v) and 2850
MY HSF is a SI 120/Nexus fan..so I know 3.0 ghz will be out of the question but I sure hope for 2800 at lower vcore than my current 170 as FL are pain in the ass
Says 1.42 in bios, i go by windows. 2.85 with 1.4v isn't bad. Keep in mind it's loading at 41c. Apparently i get some of the hottest chips.

I spent a month F*CKING around with nothing more than a stock heatsink. I've had enough air.
My watercooling isn't that great, an old pump and an old waterblock lol.
I get the following load temps
1.31v 38c
1.4v 40c
1.45v 43c
1.488v 44c
Although some people are matching my temps on air, or in some cases i've seen loading at 40c with 1.488v. So apparently my watercooling isn't very good. I've remounted 5 times and this is as good as it's gonna get ;).
neal, 49c load with 1.5v is pretty good for air i think. I load past 45c with 1.5v on water.
This on a 170 0546 xpmw which by some reports has lower temps???
Makes sense. This is gonna seem counter intuitive... but from my experience, the best clocking chips run the hottest. I think it's because the best clocking chips are all the new memory controllers, and although the new memory controllers are all coldbugged, they do seem to clock better on air/water even if they run a degree hotter.
Well here are my results.
165 0550 XPMW @ 2.4 stock volts
165 0550 XPMW @ 2.5 1.4v
165 0550 XPMW @ 2.52 1.45v
165 0550 XPMW @ 2.58 1.5v
165 0550 XPMW @ 2.6... NFG
165 0546 SPMW @ 2.42 stock volts
165 0546 SPMW @ 2.5 1.425 volts
165 0546 SPMW @ 2.6 1.475 volts - Dual priming
165 0546 SPMW @ 2.7 1.5 volts... Core 1 failed 6 mins, dual prime
I honestly thought the 0550 XPMW would be a better chip! it is much more recent and the 0546 SPMW is not very common. However despite its modest clocks, it does seem stable and perhaps with a little water I can get 2.7 out of it.
Im using a DFI Ultra-D with 2GB of Mushkin XS4000 ram. I am satisfied with 2.6 stable since its in the FX60 range which is way more than I bargained for :)

I really believe my 170 0546 xpmw does not have a good memory controller
My Crucial Valueram(5G chips not binned ballistix) ran @250mhz @2.8v 3-3-3-7-1t-8/2 drive/data strength on a Venice 3200@2750
but the opty 170 can only do 225 3-3-3-10-1t-6/1
I think it's more that better clocking chips draw more power.. thus run hotter. Also LDBHE isn't a very new mem controller, and alot of the new 06 X2's are doing pretty good with the LDBHE steppingsQuote:

LDBHE is an exception, that's why the new X2s are getting a lot of attention.
Why does that not make sense? They draw more amperage, so they clock better, and run hotter. That is just a guess, but you can't write it off as wrong :confused: But that could be the reason
