I have DX48BT2 mobo and recently (about 4 months ago) I installed my win7 x64 ultimate retail disc with SP1 and it picked up the onboard audio out of windows update. Go check for updates and see if audio is listed. I didn't even have to think about it, just ticked the check box and installed it, rebooted had sound. Been running great for months now, nice sound in win7x64 no problems.
You might need Win7 SP1 for it to work.. I don't know. Mine was SP1, it might have some effect on it.
I picked up this board new-old-stock off ebay in feb 2013 for $48 shipped with I/O shield, and 775 chips are utterly cheap as dirt these days. This is just a desktop machine for web browsing, chatting, youtube.. etc, sometimes some java games. Maybe a few basic games if I don't feel like booting my big i7-gamer. I picked up a 3.0 Ghz wolfdale 45nm 6MB xeon dual core chip for $12.55 shipped used off ebay and have it in here with some spare mushkin ddr3-2400 I have left over from my x58 i7 gamer (saved back for quad channel later). I have it clocked up @ 475 FSB @ 8x = 3.8 ghz CPU & DDR3-1900, 2x4GB sticks (8GB total) running perfectly stable with a minor voltage bump on CPU & MCH on air cooling no problems. No BSOD's, no crashes. I don't have any problems with it and it's a awesome little system, especially for $61. Loving this little board. I did flash it up to the latest bios off the intel website when I first got it. BTW usb floppy drives boot fine on this machine for bios flashing. I don't do gaming full time on this machine so it just has a pair of HD 5670's in crossfire (Only using them because I found both of em together on ebay for $40 total shipped), nothing amazing really. And 4 x 32 GB intel Sata-II enterprise SSD's in raid-0 with the onboard raid (found for $20 each on ebay with free shipping). And a single 2TB WD black for extra storage.
Great deal, man!!
When I think of the money I spent back when I bought this baby :-(
I'm curious regarding the next enthusiast platform, X99?
X99 and Haswell-E available from Q3'14.
8 core, 4ch DDR4 2133, 30 PCIe 3.0 lanes.
Guess what?! Socket 2011-3 - yes, revision 3 of socket 2011. Not compatible with "old" 2011!!!
Intel at GDC
Aswell-E
Broawell
Devil,s canyon - haswell on steroids, yaicks!!
Where's Haswell-E and X99?
This time I think I'll shift in a (somewhat) different direction though.
