ASUS says that it should improve temperature monitoring.
Okay, guys I need help.
Bios at startup shows (dual channel interleaved), and cpu-z show as Dual Channel.
Both memories are at the yellow slots. Both are Kingston 1gb - ddr 533.
[edit] Tried both at the black slots and same results.
They are not from the same manufacture week and the memory chips have different memory chips, could this be a problem ?
Both shows the same timings for latency 4-4-4-12.
Here are the Righmark scores I found at the neeoseker review of our board on the left(ddr-800) and mine on the right(ddr-533), added single channel results.
Is this the supposed higher benefit of dual channel, should it be more ? less ? Or I was just expecting something more than reality ?
Real Read
(avg) 7057 - 4090 - 3300
(max) 7868 - 4654 - 3490
Real Write
(avg) 3074 - 1765 - 1070
(max) 4801 - 4157 - 3540
Bandwidht
(avg) 5261 - 2770 - 1990
(max) 6022 - 3033 - 2153
They clearly got double the result ... DDR-533 max bandwidth with dual channel should be around 8.4gb/s and I'm seeing only around single channel results.
well solved my issues finnaly, I had a flawed motherboard its goin to a rma.
i don't think your Tuniq 120 Tower is mounted correctly because you should have lower idle temp than 50C unless you are very high on the vcore with a realtively high overclock.

P.S. Is that u under the gas mask? ;)
In my experiance, dual channel benefits should go up to 30%. But never used an in intel based board before for testing. It should increase your mem bandwith.
I heard 0910 is buggy, thats why it isnt official yet. So what are the benefits of using 0910 in comparison to 0804?Quote:
LittleDevil Everyone use the last one (0910 current)
Anyway, one of the members said that loading both Intel and Jmicron AHCI or RIAD drivers during windows setup by F6 method can prevent jmicron controller issue. By using his explanation I've put together a F6 boot disc package for both controllers using latest Jmicron and Intel drivers.
U can download it here.
which vcore are you using? it might be on autoQuote:

edit
I still don't know why I can't use Clockgen to raise my FSB to remain on 1066 strap. Any sugestions? I've made the necessary settings in BIOS for the desired frequency, but computer freezes after I click apply.
Platform Environment Control Interface, abbreviated as PECI, is a recent (introduced in 2006) technology used for thermal management in the Intel Core 2 Duo processors. The main difference between PECI and the previously used thermal sensors is that PECI reports the negative value expressing the difference between the current temperature and the thermal throttle point (at which the CPU shuts down itself to prevent damage from overheating) instead of the absolute temperature as usual. So, for example, for a typical CPU with maximal temperature of 85°C and the current temperature of 35°C, the value reported by PECI would be -50°C.Quote:

Thanks for the detailed explanation.
so should PECI be disabled or enabled? - because it should be disabled according to the OCing guide by FCG
PECI doesn't affect OC. It might affect temperatures reported by TAT, CoreTemp or Probe. Depends on witch bios you're using. Try both, enabled or disabled and check temps.
PECI has nothing to do with OC and should be enabled for all Dual/Quadcore CPU's since it provides more accurate on-die temperature readings than the diode (which is still in place on these CPU's for backwards compatibility) temperature sensing method. The BIOS needs to fully support this feature since it is driving the CPU-Fan in variable rpm mode! Other sofware needs to be aware of the different temperature readings in 30h when PECI is enabled.Quote:

Thanks for PECI info.
OK i got 2 probs.
1. Breef frezees while working.. e.g. unpacking a 30 mb file, stops in middle of unpack and continues after 6 seconds, accessing disc data,...
All happened after i installed drivers.
2.Which drivers to install to enable AHCI?

3. I'll think of something later.. its 1 AM here now, so kind of tired now :(
Oh yes, how can I set USB so it can been seen as floppy in Eazy flash and Windows setup (i tried forceing emulation)?
Where can I download the 0910 bios?
Hmm.. Mine is 82801HR/HH/HO SATA AHCI Controller.
Try updating from your ASUS P5B CD. I think the driver is located in \Drivers\Chipset\Intel\Inf\XP...
I have done the change from IDE to AHCI in a different way. It was on ASUS forum, but I couldn't find the link anymore. :(
As far as I can remeber, I've unistalled everything under IDE/ATA/ATAPI.
Note: if you have an optical unit on IDE, don' uninstall that.
After that I restarted, manualy installed the new controller from the location on CD, another restart, selected AHCI in BIOS, boot to Windows and installed Intel Matrix Storage Manager. And another restart, and it was working.
Hope I've remembered well.
those timings messed me up for a couple hours till i figured it out via google.
i took a chip from my p5n-e sli that i am rma'ing (board only) and threw it in my new p5b-deluxe. everything installed great but the moment i tried to oc it wouldnt post. the moment i put defaults on it would start xp.
finally i figured out it was the last 4 timings that were at 10-10-10-10 were screwing everything up. find out the right values for those timings and i bet a lot of peoples problems would be solved.
What should be the last four values? the 10-10-10-10? I'm getting memory errors at certain speed too. I don't know what my last four settings should be.
is this the 1x PCIe issue you guys are talking about

lol tells you how much i care about gaming hehe
i tried the suggested fix settings but it doesn't work....

I am puzzled, u got controller number 5!! :D
I will contact ASUS for explanation... beacuse drivers from ASUS are not the latest, so I use Intel's.
Can someone else using AHCI tell what is the name of Intel controller?
Also, these freezes are driving me ******* , have any of u set up maximum PCI latency?
EDIT : I see a lot of repeated Q&A around here, so i will make my guide into tread, so ppl can read it before asking question here , that have allready been answered.

I believe I read something about warning against moving to AHCI after OS installed. Could be in Asus Forum or even FAQ.
About the Advanced User Manual .. :
I solved 100% crackling Soundmax by disconnecting the PC_Speaker from the OB connector. Boot issues were soleved by 4580 drivers.
