I can boot @ 450 no problem and mine is the 1.85vMCH version.
do you guys think its worth using intel's ports instead of the ez-backup for raid0
im using the ez-right now with these drives http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...Code=101220-12
Yes, intel ich7r raid is quite a bit faster
so i must reinstall windows right? and use f6 for the drivers
and make sure to get the latest drivers from intel?
if i have gathered all my info correct, that about right?
should i go head and try x64?
Quick specs: P5W DH w/ scythe ninja cooler / swiftech 40mm copper northbridge fan / 8800gts / 2 x 1024mb 4-4-4-10 team xtreme micron d9's / silverstone st60f whatever the modular PSU is, antec p180. Things are running chill.
I have been following the P5W DH overclocking guide you guys have laid out.
My personal problem is
A) When I overclock too high with the memory (If I don't set it to auto...and take it usually past 900) with my memory timing on 4-4-4-10.....I reboot in to a black screen.
B) When I set the memory to auto, keep the timings @ 4-4-4-10...I can overclock to 3324mhz, 9 x 369.......things work well, BUT IF I put my ATI HDTV Wonder in the 2nd pci slot from the bottom......I have the rebooting black screen error quite often. To the point where I just took the card out.
Right now I am able to do any prime95 test with 2 instances @ 9 x 369, auto memory, 4-4-4-10, everything disabled like you guys run it. Is this about max for E6600's on air here? 3.3-3.6ghz range? ALSO If I bump the voltage on the CPU up to say 1.45 to 1.5 my voltage in cpu-z gets moving around.
The memory does run in auto mode at like PC-4300 or something unimpressive. If I set the memory to....what ever makes it appear as PC-7100 / PC-8500.....the reboot to black screen.
It's so annoying not being able to go over 400fsb, I got the 1.65 mch version and I guess it is harder to overclock with 4x1Gb ram as well. =/
Can't speak to x64, sorry.Quote:

Once the array is removed Windows hangs on start and will not even enter safe mode. This is with booting the 3rd drive from any of the ICH7 ports, or the JMicron, or either EZ port.
I've scoured the net looking for a way to do this without a reinstall, but no luck so far. If anyone has accomplished this it would be great if you would share!
Ok, I admit it was a little bit stupid, but at least it did work for a while...Quote:

Here's a Fix:
•3 IDE Channels when using an e-SATA HD, the HD seems to be malfunctioning (slow transfer, PIO mode, etc.)
Fix:
Install BIOS 1707 (from Asus ftp), and download the Jmicron drivers (they say raid but they do general SATA as well). The HD is now listed as a SCSI, and seems to work fine...I need to defrag to see if I still get the "delayed write error".
http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...Language=en-us
Scroll down to the Jmicron drivers.
question for ya guys
alright, I have 6hds in my comp
2 are in ide, and the other 4 are sata.
i have 2 drives i would like to put in RAID0 with the ICH7R.
how can i hook up the other 2 sata drives and have them still functional.
right now i have the 2 drives with the EZ-Backup in RAID0, but what them with ICH7R. i boot off them, the other 2 sata non raid drives are for storage, as well as the ide drives.
Thanks in advance

Ok, enough with the entertainment part of this post, lets get into the...juice :D
BIOS 1707 changed nothing actually ( overclocking-wise ), and ofcourse there are no new memory timings in the BIOS ( don't ask silly questions :p: )...and ofcourse...Asus says "there's no Core 2 Extreme processor".
Thus... you got a X6800 and the available CPU Ratios/Multipliers are... 6-7-8-9-10-11
Thank you for your interest in Asus products.
Asus, Keep Walking...
Has anyone found a QUICK way to get this motherboard to work again when it decides not to initialize the USB ports? I'm up to BIOS 1602 with no sign of any fix there.
I ended up pulling the plug and letting it sit for hours today, when after quite a long stretch of booting properly it decided to play dead after a reboot.
No sign of what 'overheated', or whatever causes the problem...
I have the same problem with my P5W64-WS Pro.Quote:

Hi all,
I've gone through the last 25 pages of the thread as well as many other resources on other websites, and out of them all, everyone here seems to have the best knowledge regarding the tweaks required to push the c2d + asus p5w dh motherboard with watercooling to its limits.
Currently, my setup is this:
Intel Core 2 Duo e6600 4mb cache 2.40ghz
Antec Nine Hundred Case
PNY GeForce 8800 GTX 768mb
Asus P5W Deluxe DH Deluxe
2xCORSAIR XMS2 1GB DDR2 1066mhz (PC2 8500)
OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI
GIGABYTE GH-WIU02 120mm Blue LED Light 3D Galaxy I (Watercooler)
I don't have CPU week and motherboard spec information handy, so that'll come in a later post when I have some time to work with my rig, but from what I remember:
mb bios 1506
1:1 FSB:MEM doing 386*9 = ~3474mhz
vDimm at 2.20v 5-5-5-15 (rated)
vMCH at 1.55v
vCore at 1.5625v
Because my room is quite warm, even with 2x120mm fans in the front as intake, 1x120mm fan on the side as intake, the 120mm fan on the radiator acting as exhaust (on the top rear of my box), and 1x200mm fan at the top of the case as exhaust as well, my temperatures could be a bit better. Or maybe it's my CPU week, seeing as from what I'm reading, a lot of the earlier weeks required a lot more voltage to hit higher fsb's.
Using TAT, my cores idle at around 48c and on dual prime95s and full load, it's ~65c.
From what I gathered in my reading for me to be able to get a higher FSB, which I really can't do at the moment, I need to raise my vMCH to 1.65v or higher. I want to add another waterblock to my piping to cool the northbridge and would like some advice on what would be best.
The current PVC tubing is 1/2", and I've seen the Danger Den Maze4 Chipset Waterblock (Intel 975X) as well as some of the offerings from newegg that seem kind of generic. I don't mind whether the block inlets would be 1/4" or 1/2", but I'd like to get something that would fit well without much re-engineering if possible.
I also have not yet relaxed my tRFC timings, but I will do that as well over the weekend. I'd just really like to get over a 400 fsb with 9x multiplier if possible. This is a new rig, and I haven't tested how high I could go with an 8x multiplier, but I want to exhaust my 9x options first.
Here's a photo of the setup prior to my filling it with water and relocating the reservoir/pump to the bottom, next to the powersupply:

Thanks and looking forward to all your guys input!

Haven't you placed the ram little wrong? Shouldn't it be on black -> black or orange -> orange and not mix the colors on the slots.
thats what i thought as well Gascogne
nickfd - as the guys said, your RAM is not installed correctly ...
also, I am not surprised about your TEMPs as you are using the crappy Gigabyte Kit which in most cases gives you only slightly better temps than high end air cooling ... I would certainly NOT consider adding another block to the loop. That RADiator is not able to handle more heat ... I had 2 of these kits ... trust me ...
if you wanna be serious about overclocking and watercooling, go with a kit like Swiftech Apex Ultra plus ...
nickfd, why would you need 1.5xxx VCore??? that is way up there.
im currently at 1.4 at 400x9 wich is fine by me.
Trying getting everything at stock 266mhz fsb with stock volts.
Jump to 333x9 you should be able to hit that speed with stock volts. jump 5 or 10 mhz at a time with stock volts. When it starts to act up. add .05 volts and keep upping FSB.
I Did around 350-355 with stock voltage, wich is plenty.
His ram is installed fine...
Dual Channel works fine in Black+Black/Orange+Orange OR Black+Orange/Orange+Black
and?... thanks.. for that... :rolleyes:Quote:

So far, whats the best bios to get FSB past 400? I bought my board in august, currently I'm doing 400Mhzx8 (3.2Ghz) on my week 24A e6400. This is with bios 1305, I haven't tested how far past 400Mhz I can push it on this bios. I want to update the bios to solve cold boot problem.
I disagree!Quote:

Colour coordinated slots only unless ALL filled!
So 2 orange or 2 black if 2 sticks........Manual states this quite clearly.......:)
Otherwise.......why not colour them all the same?
