Hey Roger - yep, im exactly the same. I knew the 1066 dividers were a bit dodgy, but not the 667 ones. In fact, if you look at the anandtech review it states 266/667 as one of the recommended ones - not for me! C1 straight away.

That confirms my findings too -333/800 is the easiest to work with. 266/800 works fine for me until around 3.3ghz, but then my mem cant take the overall memspeed.

Thats interesting - and a little worrying! I was consdiering jumping on a QX9650 within the next few weeks. Might wait and see a few more results on this board first. Keep us posted! :)

cheers mate. well it has some strange behaviour for sure. as M3kk has said when you save an overclock in BIOS it often just powers on and off for less than a second repeatedly. if you hold the power button until its off then leave for 5 mins or so before turning back on it starts no probs with the new overclocked settings. very strange.

didnt have much time to play as on nightshift(bah) but it was BSOD right before entering windows on same settings that were fine with the QX6850. I also tried lowering FSB and raising Vtt to max values due to the huge droop with Yorkie and Vtt on this board but still the same. in the end I only had 5 minutes so just made sure it was stable on stock settings and the mrs informs me Prime is still running fine(6 hours or so) so at least that gives hope that can tweak it a little at a time and get a stable overclock going when i get some time, hopefully tomorrow.

i'll try maybe some thing like setfsb,if i have bios boot problems.
the droop issue has me concerned,right now my board is dead on with all readings but ram,from what i have them set on anyway.

yeah it was spot on with the qx6850. not sure if the vtt droop is intentional though as maybe Yorkies need less Vtt?

yeah will try setFSB tomorrow and see if I can take her right up to 4.6GHz.

hehe, Lord knows I have called the GF more than enough times to let me know the 'status' of a prime session. Sometimes ignorance is bliss however as when she tells me it blue screened and I am still hours away from my shift being done, it really leaves the rest of my work time foul, as I can't get the failure off my mind and I know there is nothing I can do about it till later.

I see 2 screens of Andre yang with CF 2900xt under the DFI LP P35 T2R. One on 16x/4x and 16x/16x (better score on 3dmark05)

As ubermario said andre seems to have used a pcb add that does it work (he has very good contacts with oscar wu, dfi taiwan)

It seems that, but it's true but will find pcb add ? :mad:

It never becomes available, you have to buy the X38 :shrug:

My reply was valid then and still is. The chipset cannot do x16/x16 so there is nothing to activate. If you possess the necessary electronics knowledge and skills to mod the board to accept a Crossfire bridge chip then do the mod. But that's a long way from activating something.

Oh, and since Andre's name keeps coming up he is a quote from him in his P35 thread.

Well guys I have been living with this board now for many months and I am not pleased.

This is not a stable platform.

It might be a great OverClocker for short periods of time...but is all you want but a day or two of greatness?

Yay I hit 4.1ghz... so what.

I need this rig to consistently and reliably run at stock speed Folding...but this it will not do.

My P5K Deluxe can do it...but not the DFI.

If you are looking for some impressive screenshots and that's all the DFI might be your baby...you want to produce points at 100% load without fail? Not going to happen.

Like others I have had and worked through a great number of minor annoyances.

I can live with annoyances...but an unstable platform at stock speed? It's crap.

It'll be a while before I throw $280 at DFI again :shakes:

I've posted a negative experience with the 12/24 bios and a QX9650. I could not install Vista64, kept locking-up the machine. I was attempting to install using AHCI mode.

The only reason I bothered trying to use this bios was because I was having Hard Drive perf issues. I reverted back to 11/07, (which is required for QX9650 recognition), and the installation went fine. I have not had the HD perf issues, but I haven't installed the latest Intel INF drivers, just using the generic drivers that come with the OS.

There is a well documented issue with Vista and support for AHCI/RAID on the ICH9R and earlier chipsets.

I'm running with a mild overclock, just upped the multiplier by 1 and added an additional 4 gigs of ram. After a couple days I'll proceed with more overclocking or I may try installing the INF drivers from Intel. I have a feeling if I install the INF drivers my perf will go to heck all over again.

I sorta know what you are saying. I have been having this feeling as well. Settings that were great for many weeks starting blue screening like crazy, locking up etc. I originally thought it was my Ballistix crapping out as they always seem to do that but after running tests on the sticks they came out fine. Yesterday I ran a very long prime session. It went for 25h then the system just shutdown. I am still trying to track down what may have caused the shutdown as it left no rhyme or reason for doing so. I am running Prime again with exact settings and ambient temps to see if I can replicate the problem. I am nearly 12h in so almost half way there. Yea 25h is nothing to sneeze at but to me the system should NEVER shut itself down. I really hope to find a stable point where I will no longer get a single BSOD, lockup or shutdown. All and all I am still very happy with my board but some things are still nagging me at the back of my mind about it.

I do not agree, perhaps it's your opinion but i've experienced none of this, i think the mobo is an absolute jewel, from the surge unit to the bios and the only P35 mobo that comes as good is the asus blitz.

You got unlucky. Nearly everyone that I have talked to with this board loves it. It has been absolute rock solid for me.

Warren....you ever RMA that board? It was showing indications months ago of something wrong with it.
For Folding I would not recommend anything but a Super Micro Server set up to be Taxed for consistent 24/7 use like that!

Yep, no probs with mine either... rock stable. Best board Ive had in a long while... and ive been through a few!

I use my rig every day, and it is rock solid stable. I can't say i have had any annoyances from it at all. In fact it's one of the most stable platforms i have run with since the Abit NF7-s. Considering the complexity of the bios, it's also very easy to set and run straight from the box as well. If you are having problems with it, it can only be one of two things. Hardware, or the person trying to use it. So RMA it, and see if it comes back as bouncing new "baby".

Me too, stable 24/7 as listed in Sig. Perfect mobo if you ask me.

Are you guys with the "24/7" stable boards keeping them under 100% load 24 hours a day week after week?

I have owned a lot of boards M8s...the DFI is a blast to tweak and clock: just not capable of handling a sustained load...

It resets every day or two...

Warren you know as well as I do for that kind of continuous 24/7 Load get a Server set up thats designed to do such. Anybody that brings a overclocking board to do that in place of a server board might as well be bringing a knife to a gun fight!

Mine does 24/7 work with no sweat, hasn't been shut down for a week or so now and no problem what so ever with 3.6GHz for cpu and ~1130MHz for ram..and has been doing that since i've bought her..
