ASUS P5W DH - Problems + Fixes Thread

Hello all,

I've o/c my E6600 on my P5W DH Deluxe and I'M wondering if everything seems fine...

My settings are:

vCore: 1,35V
vMCH: 1,55V
vFSB: 1,40V
vDIMM: 2,2V
vICH: 1,05V

PCI Express : 105 Mhz
PCI : 33,33 Mhz

E6600 @ 3,00 Ghz 333 FSB
Mushkin XP2 PC2-6400 4-4-3-10 (1,9 - 2,1V) @ 500 Mhz (PC2-1000) 4-4-3-10 2,2V

Temps:
CPU : Idle ~34-35 Full ~44-45 (Cores : 45-62 Idle-Full)
Mobo : Idle ~34 Full ~40

Everything is stable with Orthos for 10 hours+ dunno if the voltages seems fine I'm scared to push it too more lol

I gotta change my CPU cooler since it's still the stock one...

Any input appreciated :D

i think your temps are great for stock air, and feel that giving the cpu more voltage will be ok.

BUT...i would only go to about 1.40-1.425 till you obtain a better HSF.

raise your vmich to 1.65

intels temps are much more tolerable than AMD's.... your good to the 60's temps and many run them even higher than that, though i prefer not to.
im running on water so i run my volts as high as 1.6 testing but use 1.475 24/7 with load temps in the low 50s.

so give it more voltage ( 1.425 )and try the "systool" overclocking utility, watch the temps using "coretemp" which by the way will show a more precise temp than the asus probe.

use the ICS954123 generator in the drop down menu, click find max ...and let it run......

Well i ripped those covers off (while everything was still connected to mobo), so wasnt too easy and system temps still seem to be the same, if not higher by 1°C, so i think i may buy one of those nb coolers soon and attach it to the nb.

No matter what I set (auto, min or max values) on MCH, ICH and FSB I just can´t boot over 390 and that´s freaking me out! :mad:

Whoops, sorry, OCZ Platinum Alpha VX2...
Anyway, nb seems to need more voltage to drive 4x1GB than to drive 2*512MB.

Bios was 1707...

I am using the latest Intel Chipset...maybe that will help ?

Tried everything I could find there but I can't get over 400 fsb no matter what I try it seems. =/

Another problem I have had for a long time now is when I select shutdown in windows my system just reboots and when I select reboot in windows the system doesn't reboot.
Anyone else with same or similiar problem?

Can you just apply/install the new chipset drivers? I read somewhere that you needed to do a clean install???

The problem is that .exe file only works after a fresh install. You have to extract the .exe file or download the zip file then manually update nearly all the device profiles in Device manager in order to do it right.

same here i pulled em both off and used AS5 and my mobo temp is still at 51c

No point reinstalling intel "drivers" really..

They only enable stuff like usb2.0, they're not real drivers. Windows xp runs fine without them you know..

P5WDH (MCH 1.65 version)- BIOS: 1707 - QX6700 @ 3.0G

- BIOS: 1707 installed
- mild overclock, all is nominal and working fine

man someone buy my board it's sitting here doing nothing...lol

holy cow man my mobo temps are approaching 53c im seriously getting frustrated w/ this, Should i maybe consider liquid cooling?

with air cooling on motherbaord i was able to get to 390fsb. With liquid cooling chilled down to about 3c i was not able to go up 1mhz higher ...so dont expect much from liquid cooling this mobo.

i used the zalman 9500 with this board and it was fine
i still use it with my asus striker too with no problems
