This i deffinately your PSU giving up on you, i have tried this before at the symtoms are instant shutdown no erros no warnings just suddeen shotdowns

yesterday i also bought a opteron 165.
I think i have a newer version or something,but it doesn't overclock that bad :clap:
It is a CCBWE 0602BPMW,i dont know if that is good or bad,still testing it.

it is on 1.45 volt,and tested it with prime95 for 6 hours,seems it is stable this way,my only problem is that i reached my max ddr speed i guess,i already have the divider on 166,but the ddr is running on 485mhz now (pc3200).
Maybey i should try set the divider on 133 or something like that?

OS: Win server 2003 R2 enterprise.
Amd opteron 165 x64 Dual core 2mb cache @ 2665mhz.
4x512mb Corsair TwinX xms Pro 2-3-3-6 pc3200 tccd @ 485mhz.
Epox 9nda3+ mobo cpu and v-core modded.
Sapphire x800Pro vivo modded to x800xt platinum @ 545/595.
Wd raptor x2 10.000rpm raid 0 strping.
OCZ powerstream 470watt powersupply.
X-FI platinum soundcard.
Zalman 7000 fullcopper aircooling

The magic number to stay under seems to be 44 degrees, if I stay under that I get sickening OC's....did 2950MHz on same stock yesterday....with some help of King Bor here.. ;)

EDIT:

I mounted my BT instead and instantly lowered load temps with 6-7 degrees...now I see max load of 45 degrees...not bad!:)
..must have been a lousy applied AC5, to eager I guess...

what did King Bor actually tell you to do?

you can not get 11x..it is locked ..lower multipliers are not

a new Opteron 170 CCBWE 0551 UPMW. My first one :)

The week 50 from what I ve read seems to be a better overclocker, but..
do you have any experience with this stepping ?

Well, I took the step and removed my IHS...everything was going alright but suddenly the razorblade just went through like in water.....I knew I did hit something I shouldnt....:mad:

When I opened the lid one of those small buggers fell out...
I throwed it in my Mobo and fire the thing up, ...everything booted as normal...temps looked very nice and clock gained a tad...no issues so far.

I hope I "removed" the one that didnt have any function....

Idle temp is down with 5C and load down with 8C, and this is fresh AS5...will prolly drop some more.

Will burn in the AS5 and then clock some...

Put some Arctic Silver Ceramique on the bare core instead. It dropped load temps by another 5c for me.

Jesus Christ, if that happened to me and I had your chip, I'd probably cry. Glad to see it works though :toast:

PS the way the dividers on 9x multi works is that the 180divider in effect gives you a 10x multi, and-

166- 11x
150-12x
140-13x
133-14x
120-15x
100-16x

If for example you have your RAM on a 166 divider, multiply your RAM speed by 11 to get your CPU speed. The only disadvantage you have over higher multi chips are cold bug and mobo HTT limit :slapass:

My FX57 is CABNE 0530 -which is a good stepping , however, Tcase max is just 57 C, so I can boot 3080 , but 100% stable is just around 3GHz.

Looking forward to the dual core :)

Ambient is 10C..

I did raise the voltage .025volt and the clock 50MHz, all in all a good deal.:D

Needs more burning for the AS5 to settle, I guess it's more important on a smaller surface.
