Hey guys,
I've noticed that when I set the DRAM voltage in BIOS to 2.19, BIOS will report it as a little bit less, but SG and Everest report 2.12/2.13 in windows... is that not a HUGE droop?
Is is simply that the reported voltages in BIOS are correct and SG and Everest are reporting them wrongly?
I've noticed that setting 1.41 NB voltage in BIOS has Everest and SG reporting 1.39v in windows, but that is acceptable, right?
I want to start OCing my new rig, but I don't want to kill my RAM because I'm getting faulty voltage readings.
Okay, well I think I found the guide you were talking about (http://edgeofstability.com/articles/...surement.html), and I'll go and see if I can do and buy a DMM trmw from HomeDepot or the likes...
But from what you remember, have you seen SG or Everest report values that are so "off" in terms of vdimm and nb voltage. It's pretty much spot on for vcore and vtt, and I think everything else, just vdimm and nb voltage are where I'm seeing the major discreprencies between software and what the BIOS is reporting.
Guys i just wanna know how much voltages can this board take? Like would a 1.6v on the vcore be ok? how about the NB?
well, it depends I suppose. i use phase cooling and my cpu is at 1.6v everyday. I use 1.6 vcc and 1.72 northbridge so I'm assuming that it is within reason if proper cooling is used. my pwm , nb and sb. use the original transpiper set-up, which has never been removed , in other words bone stock. I simple insulated the cpu socket and installed. I have not run into any problems or stability issues. system temo 41 pwm 42 currently.
BTW: my case is an inverted atx, meaning my board is upside down, I feel the design of the heatpipe actually works better this way since the coolest component of the three is usually the southbridge, and the hottest is the pwm.
@jimmyz & mad_skills: thanks guys! :) thought maybe i would try pushing my setup more above 1.5v & hoping not to hear any hissing or see some smoke coming out of my rig. :D
Just got this board. Is there a preference in which slots the memory should go in for better results or are they both the same.
sorry if its been asked before, but 111 pages is allot to read through :p:
Plus any more tips would be welcome.
thx
@emoners np man:up: something like 1.55V or so on your cooling certainly will not erect any smoke or similar effect :)
man i think i got a bad batch of proc...i can't go beyond 4.2Ghz :( :( :(
For a suicide shot or a prime/orthos stable freq. ?
Just a suicide shot...didn't wanna keep my voltages that high. Though temps are fairly good... CoreTemp 35c, Everest/SG CPU 29c, PWM 37c, NB 36c. SP1M was only 12.6 secs (maybe coz i just kept the 1:1 ratio & didn't tweak the RAMs).
Will try again tomorrow when ambient temps are better.
Well, i doubt you cant get 4GHz stable with E6850 and that cooling. I managed that with my E6750 and same heatsink.
Temps look ok, what is your ambiental atm? I get 32C idle and 55C full load @3.6GHz on 1.39375V on 20-25C ambiental.
Well if it was possible UberMario it would take some major modding because the 2nd and 3rd PCI-e slots simply don't have the electrical connections available, they just are not there. Take a look at your top PCI-e slot, then compare it to the other two and you'll soon see the problem! It would be great but I don't think its going to happen anytime soon!
Hey guys, just got this board and installed it, and i have a quick question for ya. Is there a known CPU temp bug with this board? Im running a Q6600 G0 on it, high end watercooled. The CPU temp in bios is reading 17 degrees! That has got to be wrong. LOL! Running the latest official bios. Core temp seems to read each of the cores about right though - around 32 degrees on each core.
Nothing major, just irritating thats all.
