Yeah, go water...keeping the temp down is essential on the dual...43-44 degrees seems to be somekinda magic numer from what I've learned..if you stay under that I believe you will see a much better clock.
..yeah, I really don't mind either...this chip will take me through -06 at least.
Yes but I've got to choose: 2.8ghz or my girlfriend. Still doubtful :D :D
//EDIT j/k.... dangerden or swiftech? LOL
//EDIT2 I'll try tonight what voltage do I need to max at 44c, then I'll up the HTT. Hope for a surprise. Also I've got my new TruePower 2.0 550w, I think that will help (before a Levicom 420w 3 years old :D)
Is 2906 MHz Dual Prime stable on 1.52 volts good? Temps starting to worry me though. After an hour of prime, they reached 41*C....
previous best was 2808 MHz with 1.42v.
Ofcourse its good, LOL, thts exactly wht i am going to be aiming for. Really KITT, I cant believe you are worrying abt 41C temps, i really dont think u should be worrying abt tht ;)Quote:

-EDIT-
I imagine you are running 323 x 9, wht divider u running? RP & MAL settings? Ive been playing with my HTT speed in preperation for the 165 Absolute_0 has sent me, my board is good for 350+ :)
41°C @ 1.52V is good .. mine is at 43°C @ 1.46V so no worries there ..
btw what amb temps do you have? i have normal 21°C in my room, but if open the window for 5min so the amb temps drop to like 17-18°C i got instantly 38°C of load .. so amb teps play important role here ;)
@ no_n|ck ambient temps are about 17*C
@ mongoled, 3/4 divider as im running BH-5. And yeah, its 323 x 9 :)
I'll tell you the MAL and RP settings later as im still priming at 2.908 GHz. 1 hour 55 minutes elapsed :D
Your temps are fine, I'm at 38ºc with my voltage and the IHS removed, with the IHS still on it was about 5ºc warmer.Quote:

BUT mine doesn't keep scaling, you'd think it'd do 2900@1.55 but it doesn't :( I was about to pick up that CCB1E 165 on ebay, but I was outbid by $5  it went for $320
figured I probably could have sold it off for more anyway.
Hello.
I had some problems getting my previous cpu over 2500mhz (x2 3800+) and now i got problems with this one aswell!
My friend bought this amd opteron 165 , and sold it to me i saw it running @ his home 2700Mhz flawless! (he wasnt running same PSU).
Hes running same mobo (Dfi Lanparty Nf4 ultra-d)!.
I tried it here , and the highest speed i could reach was 2400Mhz with 1.450 vcore , all other was too unstable , SAME PROBLEM as with the x2 3800+! Ive been switchin my memory , and now i bought this cpu.
Ive been asking peeps , and most of them tells me i need some better power supply , maybe the Watts arent enough or the power rails are too unstable!
Im running the gfx @ 1.5v , high clocks. 2gb crucial mem @ 270Mhz (3 hour memtest86 stable),1hdd 200gb,dvdr/cdr combo drive and a floppy (these are the things thats connected to the power supply). Some other people tells i should switch my mobo! but the same model?
What do you guys think about this?
Ive been messing around with dividers,HTT and stuff but this looks like it's some hardware prob!
New PSU or MOBO?
Please help!
dual sp2004 for 9hrs sth. @ 2.8ghz default volt.
Wow, that's some low cpu temps for dual prime on air. What's the ambient temps?Quote:

Not the best, but i can live with that :) :fact:
KITT are you running with the IHS removed? I am using 1.53v and loading at 47c ><
Yes mate, IHS is removed :)

absolute 0, any comment on my chip? thx
@Clint: My little experiment didn't work. The voltage/mhz scaling in my chip is REALLY bad:
1.350v: 2520 280x9
1.375v: 2601 289x9
1.400v: 2637 293x9
1.425v: 2646 294x9
1.450V: 2655 295x9
Didn't try more, as I already know I need 1.550v to get 2700 stable. So basically from 1.4v I need .25v for each mhz I raise the HTT! :(
I'm still unsure if its a temp problem, at 1.55v it primes for 2 hours at 50-51c and keeping temps at 44c and raising HTT fails prime instantly. Tried to clockgen at 1.400v from 295 to 300 HTT but fails in 0 secs.
But what PSU do you have? :D I think it has something to do with the TIM and the IHS seating, maybe you're doing something wrong? It is possible you've ended with 2 really bad chips, but don't think that's the case, as every 165 I read here gets at least 2600 in the worst cases.Quote:

I'm working in reasonable temps though, around the 40's coz I'm heading to a WC setup and wanna check out the capacity in that temp range.
K.I.T.T ..that is a spunky clock...2.9 on a 165'er is damn good!
..sweet loadtemp as well if considering the voltage..:)
Yes but unfortunately here in Spain I have now 17c outside, and its still winter. In summer temps grow up to 40-45c :stick:
So I'm afraid I'll have to run my comp at stock (or even lower) voltage.
And yes, I understood you, but the only way I have to lower temps is lowering voltage, because (apart from the jokes :D) I do not plan to get WC
nice below 20c temp, considering i have 30-35 room temperatur...must be like heaven there
Maybe that why mine is not a good clocker?
