would putting the optional fan on the voltage regs sink keep the nb cooler? the heatpipe sends the heat to that i guess,so putting the fan on there would cool the nb too,yes?
i've had my 6300 running at 3.5ghz(500fsb) now for weeks,and its totally stable.and i got a x-fi extreme music to solve the sound problems.cracking sound card.
oh and i got rainbow six vegas for xmas,highly recomended.

Tigger....yes it will help alot to put the fan on the heat spreaders. Also Inteleron...have you taken off that piece of aluminum that is wrapped around the NB with the Asus label on it? It restricts airflow and is ineffecient with it on there. Take is off if not and lap, AS5 and reinstall. I have no serious issues with the NB, although a good AM heatsink would be a better solution. Not really sure about the iceberQ though

While its name hints that this BIOS feature is a toggle to enable ACPI 2.0 features, this is not the case. Enabling this BIOS feature does not turn on ACPI 2.0, while disabling it turns on the original ACPI 1.0 standard.
This BIOS feature merely determines if ACPI support is enabled on the motherboard chipset level. The name ACPI 2.0 Support merely means that this motherboard supports the ACPI 2.0 standard.
If enabled, ACPI support will be enabled on the motherboard chipset level. If the operating system supports ACPI, it can then use ACPI to configure the hardware, as well as control the system's power management features.
If disabled, ACPI support will be disabled on the motherboard chipset level. Even if the operating system supports ACPI, it cannot use ACPI to configure the hardware or control its power management features.
It is recommended that you enable this BIOS feature. This allows an ACPI-compliant operating system to fully control the configuration of hardware devices and their power management.

Ok, I have ACPI 2.0 Support - Disabled- because thats what it was at default- although in the manual it implies it should be enabled but for ACPI APIC Support - it was Enabled by default so i left it. Gah so ACPI 2 is supposed to be better than 1.0- now i have to reinstall to get it..

I've a big problem :(
Yesterday I was playing FIFA and the pc shutdown without any reason.
I thinked that was graphic card. I turned off my PSU and changed the graphic card but the PC didn't turn on anymore.
When I power on the system I can listen a little little noise and it shutdown immediately.
Someone had this problem?

try to remove the 24 Pin plug off the mainboard (dont turn off your psu and dont remove the powercable (the blue light has to shine)) after that wait about 5s and put the 24 pin plug back on the board...

i lost onboard lan on my p5b deluxe
my onboard sounds dead..it lasted 2 weeks..i have tried everrything to get it to work but no go...had to put audigy in now im down a pci slot :-(
i suppose 2 weeks for the sound is better than my last P5b-delux ..that whole board fried after 2 weeks lol.. It smoked up like a bushfire in Melbourne..
I think my LAN 1 is dead too ...
First I don't know why the Lan 1 that should be the primary is named Generic on the device manager, lol.
Second my router is showing as this connection as 100 Half duplex .... I tried manually setting full duplex but it didn't change.
About the ACPI 2.0 ...
I have it disable , but what I could figure it add's more tables of the ACPI 2.0 standard ... It's at the 3.0 already ... Does this downgrades to 2.0 or changes from 1.0 to 2.0 ...
I have to clue, the bios standard setting is with this options disabled.
I'm going to format soon, if anyone have any clue if it's good to this setting being enabled, tell now and be quiet forever :)
[edit] Btw, anyone know why [Vanderpool technology] options is grayed out ? I can't disable it on the latest bios[804]
[edi2] Strangely the manual says that [ACPI 2.0 support] is enabled by default, but with bios 804 when I select default setting it set's it as disabled
i thought my firewall box shut donw yesterday so i rebooted it and all only to figure out changing from one to the second LAN connection got me connected.........hmmmm i hope it's not dead..........did anyone actually experience these dying ?Quote:

smells like a group complaint ( dont now the english word for it ) since asus doesnt answer email :mad: 3 dead boards and a :banana::banana::banana::banana:load of hours spent im getting sick of asus , never experienced problems like this before i mean i can understand that a faulty board or two goes undetected at the factory but seems to be a whole lot of boards dying or loosing lan/ramslots etc.
