yeah Cooper, that was too far-fetched. We might as well start making up the crap ourselves if that's all your standards are gonna be.
Hey Cooper, I heard the R580 has 64 pixel pipes! *gasp*
Don't spread it all at once. ;)
Lol 800mhz... :D :p:
All right , Cooper pulled a tad of info from a Chinese website, can someone give us a more accurate translation? Someone who speaks the tongue of the land?
Thanks for the effort it takes to dig this stuff up Cooper, I appreciate it.
UnG
Here's a tad clearer translation...normal translation hiccups apply:
Stuff in brackets are my clarifications.Quote:

That's a 200Mhz gap between XT and PE.... :stick:
Thanks Perkam for making this clear to everybody. :toast:
I guess I should work harder on my job here
And IMO 800MHz(or something close to that number) is possible. R520 has only 16 pipes and is made with 90nm tech-process. Some hardcore cooling (like liquid metal) could help some very good chips to hit this height. But this gonna be very expensive. Remeber that article about $1000 VGAs in a few years ? Maybe it`ll be sooner ;)
Back to the news :D
Overclockers.ru reported that first-to-come in R520 family will be X1800Pro, which will be available in volume in few weeks after official presentation - mid-october - or possibly earlier. X1800XT will be available in mass quantity somewhere in mid-november. X1800LE arrives only end-october or later.
P.S. original source is in russian. So please use Altavista Babel Fish online translator if you doubt mines. ;)
Mid november?!!! XT!?! :slap: <--- ATI Slap...Quote:

Looks like I will use the GT till R600 comes by....... :p:
God, Patience is hard to come by and if they screw over us OpenGl fans again I am going to be royally pissed...
lol id have my gtx now if they would release a damn motherboard, i just really dont want the DFI-NF4, so either one of the new dfi's coming out would make me happy, odds are ill end up with a gtx anyways, single slot cooling, not to mention itll be alot lower priced once it gets some competition...
I would get a gtx right now but first and formost I only change mobos once a year..
and usually till october so till then I have my beloved Neo2 Platty banging on all cylinders...
I am waitin to change mine as well.....darn Abit :slapass:
I hear DFI is supposed to release there new boards by the begining of Oct.. which is perfect timing if you ask me..
It should be remaned to ATI Old News, course i'm gonna be retired and have a chip implant as a main GPU, before ATI makes up it's mind.
I think we are near a year of Fudo the dog news, so lets sing a birthday song.
(I did it my way)
The time is near
For all to fear
What kind of gear
They all, end up with
But do not go
We'll put on a show
And most of all
We did it our way
The R520 review is posted in the xs news section. And the X1800Pro for $449 manages to lose out to an X850XT...which is currently available here for ~$330: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102505 . I just hope they dont screw up the launch and performance numbers for the X1600 series (RV530)...as I'll be looking into getting one.
If the X1600 Series isn't faster than the X800PRO, I'll have to take a trip down to the lavatory for some extended stomach extraction.

Well ATI sure kept us waiting, but it will finally be introduced this month, the R520 architecture, the successor to the X800 family of graphics cards and a contender for the 3D graphics throne. But why wait for that introduction when you can have a sneak peek today? Normally we would’ve adhered to ATI’s NDA and published results the moment it expired. However this time around ATI decided to just not bother with us as they made it very clear that we did not make the cut, as we have written some articles about CrossFire, R520 and ATI’s financial situation that were apparently not appreciated. Hence we’ve not been briefed by ATI, nor did we sign an NDA, or have been invited to the launch event, so basically they decided to cut us off.
You can find that thread hereQuote:
