I updated the program and the description of the program, I also explain the purpose of MaxTCase value.
Can someone please change the title of the thread to "Find out the Max Case Temperature and Max Power draw of your CPU", please?

What this all means is this: On 90nm manufacturing process, the power leakage of transistors on individual processors differs greatly, this is why AMD implemented TCaseMax. Each CPU has a different TDP rating, here's how it works:
A program reads the TCaseMax value off the CPU, then depending on the processor (CPU type like A64, Opteron;CPU Rating like 3500+, 146) it finds the processor's Thermal Profile (If you download the "AMD Opteron™ Processor Power and Thermal Data Sheet" and look at pages 10-11 you'll see the different thermal profiles). When the thermal profile is determined, the program finds the TDP rating that corresponds to the CPU's TCaseMax value.
So in a few words, the higher the TCaseMax, the higher the TDP of a processor will be (the transistor leakage is higher), so the processor will run hotter. Several people have reported that the Opterons rated at 71C TCaseMax were pretty hot. On the other side these processors will be able to reach higher clock speeds.
That is why we see that on average processors with higher TCaseMax can usually reach higher CPU speeds when overclocked.
Every CPU type (A64, FX, X2, Opteron, DC Opteron) has a different thermal profile, that is why you see that on an FX a TCaseMax rating can be "only" 57C and it'll overclock way better than an A64 with a 57C TCaseMax rating. That is because at 57C TCaseMax, an FX has a TDP of 77W while the A64 has a TDP of 44W.

Hey there,
I know I had promised you a dump of this cpu, but I didn't get a chance to do that before I uninstalled it. I did, however, reload this pic @ imageshack since the first one was taken down due to excessive bandwidth usage :rolleyes: Hopefully, this will be enough info to get you by and if you'll be needing anything else, LMK. I'd like to think that I helped define a few cpu's in your prog :p: Here's the ADV 4400DAA6CD - Get it while you can lol....

You didn't use the latest 1.10v. Please redownload it, it should have a TDP field and when you click Copy to Clipboard it should also add a "TDP:" after MaxTCase

Opteron 144, currently doing 2610mhz with 1.5v. Certainly not a great one, but is responding well to burn in (was 1.55v to be stable prime)

Yes, the ADA has 89w as max, the ADV is 110W max. But there is no way to tell which is which. There is nothing the program could read in the processor that would diffrintiate them.
Just look at the above post by Pyr0. You see, there are two possible profiles, and AMD64 MaxTCase shows both, but there's no way to tell which is which. I'm guessing that chip is an ADV, as that is one heck of a OC for a 40W chip, so I'm going with the 65W version. I could be wrong tho.

Pyr0 is that CPU you have an ADV4400 or ADA4400?

The only difference between the ADA4400 and ADV4400 is their thermal profile.
the ADA can be upto 110W, the ADV can be upto 89W (in the previous post I mixed them up).

Hmm, it doesn't appear to read actual core speed, only what the CPU is set to in the BIOS. Just got that dump and I'm running at 290x10 (set in clockgen), but it's reading what I have set in the BIOS instead...

Oh, and my 144 CAB2E 0540 FPMW had a MaxTCase of 57°C, but I didn't get a dump.

Hmm, my Venice 3000+ is an E6 stepping with max temp of 53C and my Opteron 144 (CABNE 0540) has the same. Neither of them are fantastic overclockers. I'll export better detail tomorrow.

Well, if you read the first post of this thread, you'll see that MaxTCase is used to determine what TDP a processor has, not an actual maximum temperature the CPU can run at reliably.
