Most 939 boards that I know off all work like they are supposed to at default settings... NF3 or VIA KT800PRO
Any one should do you fine. Abit, MSI, Asus

Hey HK I got the the EPOX 9NDA3J rev 2
It's basically the 9NDA3+ at $40 less money
Missing FW
Missing rounded cables.
Missing Firewire headers
Missing Screwdriver
Only 2 sata NV RAID vs. 2 sata NV RAID and 2 marvel
Other than that it's exactly the same board. Same box, Same bios options, same layout.
Problems so far? same as 9NDA3+
-slots 1 and 2 don't work even at stock speeds has memtest problems
-Slots 3 and 4 are OK with TCCD until you push past about 230Mhz then it really don't like 1T no matter timmings...
-NO 3.3 or 12V monitoring. If you see it, the numbers will be crazy as hell.
Good things?
-more Vcore options up to +.35 in .05 increments
-Posts no problem at 325HTT and works well at 315.
-Works up to 280 with 4HT!!!
Hope this helps... Killer board for $90.
Sorry guys, I've been busy with other things. Haven't been keeping up to date. Starting to catch up now.

hey guyz!
can you help me getting my ABIT AV8 stable?
my problem: fastwrites disabled, everything correctly installed. so far, so good. then i put in my win xp professional cd and install it. after i have typed in my name and the networks informations, the installator says --> 7 minutes remaining (in the left down corner). so far so good. after this, i get a bluescreen, which says, change your videocard, disable drivers and reboot the system. i tried everything, but i still get this bluescreen!
HELP ME, PLZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
best regards,
burnhead
Thanks Jack!
I have another question: :p:

I need them to achieve something better than the 3ghz i got with the Giga... so consider that the priority is overclockability
Thanks for the help :)
i would get one of the newer MSI's, with serialnumber 0410 or higher :toast:
those new boards will do real nice :D
Once I thought that Neo with S/N:0411 are new rev's, but I got S/N:0410 with the new revision from Taiwan.
So there is a non-wi-Fi veriosn and a wi-fi?Quote:

Thanks. I'm up-migrating from nf2 to Socket 939 and I am looking for a stable, mature, board on which to use these components:
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Sapphire
Original Corsair TwinX PC3200LL rev 1.1 BH-5 2 x 512M 1G Kit
NEC DVD-RW ND2500-A
Informed recs much appreciated.
Cheers,
Allan
Well, the NF3 boards are better feature-wise than K8T800, and seem to overclock better, but are more expensive. At my supplier, Abit AV8 is 20% cheaper than the board i have - the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum, which is serving me well (although it has its fair share of bugs\annoyances, like dodgy readings and cpu socket placement)
I like the Abit boards that I have used but wonder about the companies future after hearing about "Enronesque" financials. I have been reading this thread and am leaning towards a revision 2 Asus Boad. I don't really want to mod it much and want a feature rich board to setup with a new Winchester CPU. I fear the Asus board won't like my RAM though?
OK something weird is going on here (K8N NEO2)
Vcore @ Bios is 1.5V
Vcore @ CoreCell shows <1.5V (but options shows that 1.5v is selected)
Vcore @ CPU-Z shows <1.5v
Vcore @ ClockGen is 1.45V
It makes me very uncomfortable because I don't know if my chip (which is 0431 :( but I have some hopes on it) can do 2500mhz @ 1.4XV OR 1.50V. If it's really under 1.4v currently i'll give him 1.5v and im sure he'll do 2500mhz at least.
Can someone help me out?
Thanks in advance :D
Hmm... can you help me i have some big problems getting my 2*512mb OCZ 3700EB ram to go parst 250Mhz 1:1 on the MSI K8N-NEO2 with my 3200+ Winchester....
i have tryet bios 1.2 and 1.3 and 1.5x(the last one i find)
sorry for my bad english. :(
by the way i have even tryet with my OCZ DDR-booster to give the ram 3.2 and 3.3 but that was no good... my winie is a middle ting i think... it is able to hit 2.75ghz with 1.65 in v-core an are game stable there...
The Neo2 undervolts by about 0.05, so giving it more volts is fine, swing
And that is @ 1.45 Vid. Must use vid % to get higher (though I don't see why it's needed ;) (insert smirking smiley here (sig))
Hi,
I have some questions about MSI's K8N Neo2 Platinum.
As far as I understand, you need to bend one of the caps to mount an XP-120, right?
So, do you think I should get XP-90 and save the "risk", if any? :confused:
Or maybe the cooling differences will be to big to lose just because of a single cap?
Also, does the MSI stock NB hsf worth's something?
Or should I upgrade it?
Thanks in advance :worship:
Swing.
The NB HSF usually doesnt have proper application of thermal paste, from what ive seen. lol. i may check my own at some point. Apparently the NB fan has a short lifespan, though its not difficult to replace. Probably better to get the smaller XP-90 rather than taking risks with the 120 and possibly damaging something.
Swing, there are pics of a mounted xp-120 with the bend cap on the internet.
Search for it and decide if you 'dare' to take that step and bend it :)
difference between xp-90 and xp-120 is undoubtly tested by someone,
just google for it ;)

Jack
Whats wrong with my MSI Neo2 54G:
Cant past 1.55V+10%, if I put 13% or above and save&exit it will be 1.55V "By CPU Vid" :mad:
Flashed with WinFLASH -> 1.36b, 1.37 and 1.41 :stick:
* Antec TrueControl 550W
* Msi K8N NEO2 54G Platinum
* 2*256mb KHX3000 BH5 SS, MemTest86+ #5 2hours S754 cas2-2-2-5 1T, nF2 271FSB cas2-2-2-11 Dual 1:1, cant be the mems :)
Have you ever tried using CoreCenter for adjusting vcore?
take a look here :)
