Looks like you need a new CPU, most late 3000+ and 3200+ seem to reach 2,6-2,65GHz on air.
1Mb chips seem to become rare.
MRKI its only bench stable so far.

My review at [M] used a 3.0C because it's PC3200 I was reviewing. If OCZ was absolutely sure every kit pf Platinum EL3200 would run at 300FSB then they would have named it DDR600 or Platinum EL4800 and tagged another $100 on the price tag. Know why they didn't name it EL4800? Because only "some" kits are going to reach those speeds. And while my 3.0C didn't get past 250FSB, it has ran at 265FSB with OCZ PC4200 Premiere.
SO while I could have used a 2.4C for that review, I chose to use a 3.0C because I was testing PC3700 (DDR466) which is a 233FSB or 3495MHz system requirement (easy) and PC3200 (DDR400) which is a 200FSB or 3000MHz system requirement. The 2.4C is a great deal at $145, however; with Intel CPU's I think many would spend the extra $40 and get a processor running 600MHz faster. Next time I will make an effort to test the lower multiplier processor's which can run much higher buses, but I honestly believe in this case it was the memory holding me back, since I'd ran that chip at 3950MHz in the past. I believe it's irresponsible as a Reviewer to give the impression this memory will run at those speeds, and when people spend their hard earned cash they may not be able to clock past PC3200 speeds, I'm sure most kits will clock far beyond their rated speed, but my kit didn't exceed 250FSB or DDR500 speeds.

Guys heat spreaders are real good as long as you actively cool the dimms. I have found cooling the spreaders keeps the IC's cooler than just removing the spreaders and blowing the same cool air on them.
so some 60mm vent over them wouldnt hurt ?
I'm having trouble getting even 250 out of my Rev2, lots of errors in memtest :(. Running 2-4-3-10, no idea what other settings I should try tweaking from what's available with my A8V :(.

With your A8V I'd try SPD, and don't push too much voltage into the I/O Buffers, it only produces more heat, and actually slows the memory.
Messing with heatspreaders isn't going to do anything but violate the warranty. If you want your DDR to run cooler, then case-ventillation is essential. Not only for the memory, but for all the ancillary devices. When a case isn't properly ventilated, heat builds and everything is effected. The NorthBridge runs hotter, and in an Intel system this is where the MCH (Memory Controller Hub) is located.
I would recommend running this memory on SPD. For Intel chipsets SPD seems to work best, and when you raise the FSB so too will the latencies change automatically. Platinum Rev.3 should run at 2-4-4-8 if it's the IC's I think under the heat-spreaders. SPD takes the guess work out of it. The highest I was able to hold tighter timmings was 230FSB and that produced some excellent 3DMark score, and high bandwidth at 2-3-3-6. Here's a good rule of thumb with Intel chipsets. Run the memory on SPD, unless your overclocking to 240FSB where I'd up the Voltage, and try 2-3-3-6. After this I revert back to SPD. The difference between CL-2.5 and CL-3 is nominal at 250FSB and above.
Cas2 was a typo, it's actually at 2.5 ;). SPD doesn't let me get past 215.. :(.
The heatspreader makes really good contact with the chips.
The ADATA my brother have is more like a nice looking "cover" then a heatspreader, cuz those only make contact 1-2 mm on the top of the chips.
Its like the heatspreader is way to large for the RAM inside..

It's got a nice TTake XP120 on it atm, keeping it nice and cool :). Considering phase change cooling it but i'm not really sure the board will help me along.. might have to get a 754 chip with a lanparty to play with instead ;). There are a lot of memory settings available on the A8V, and I don't know what half of them are or what changing them does. Not found a good thread of someone experimenting a lot with the settings to see how it affects everything and I don't have time to check it all out myself :(. I can run 245 1:1 at 2.5-4-3-10 but I was hoping for more really. Guess i'll have to spend more time playing when I have a chance..Quote:

Got it PI stable at 5K in sandra, never been able to do that before.
Just numbers, but it took a whole damn week booting and messing with bios to get 5100 sandra.

Got the booster working again.
The "pot" had lost contact, so i resoldered it and now it works just fine.
I know how it feels, sometimes you just have to prove something to yourself. :D
