nope, ive got my gpu clocks sorted. i can run 3dmark at 520/560 with the rest of my set up bone stock without my ghetto A/C hook up. i go to 210x11 and crash city, im going to reflash my bios to the 1005.21's and the voodoo dance cmos clear technique and see if i can get my cpu overclocking again.
If its not one thing its another :(
okay i finially fixed it. somehow the 1005.020 bios got me clocking right again. redid the vgpu mod to 1.41v this time(couldnt get it to go 1.36 again:confused: ) 520/560 perfectly stable on the gigabyte bios. ati tool now runs my core up to around 540(need to let it run better to know for sure where it ends)
230x10 1:1 x800xt@stock
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7948247
if i can bench at 535/570 with 250x10 3-2-2-8 on my 3500+ should be good for around 29k.
what a nightmare!
@ KoGeR|Max: This mod will only work with ViVo cards. But there are some ppl with a hardmod applied to their cards that flashed the GigaByte BIOS as well. That's it!
PowerColor X800 Pro VIVO SUCCESS!
Flashed the GigaByte BIOS and now have a 16 pipes X800 Pro.
Since my system hung several times I flashed back my original BIOS - 16 pipes still enabled.
(1) I tried different XT-PE BIOSes, but I can't run at 520/560 although ATi Tool reports my core temp not to go above 82°C. Can anyone send me a BIOS that may work (increased voltage, ...?).
Please send it to "yaphea at gmx dot net", thanks!
(2) AquaMark3 shows me 128 of texture memory only and reports 115MHz core/mem speed... why? And the ATi Ruby demo didn't run until I set my AGP Aperture Size to 256MByte... ??
(3) Does anyone know a BIOS editor for X800 BIOSes? I used to edit my 9800 Pro/XT BIOS to run my Sapphire 9800 XT (modded Pro with R360) at higher clock speeds and cannot find a version of RadEdit / .. that can handle X800 versions.
Thank you & greetings from Austria!
The problem is the temperature.... you need to lower the temp in order to get it stable @520MHz... higher voltage won't help... it will make it even worse.Quote:

ATi Tool reports 50°C GPU idle temperature (mb 32°C, cpu 38°C). The card runs stable at up to 515MHz / 600MHz where temp is rising to 84°C.
All I need is a BIOS editor to flash a XT-PE BIOS with 500MHz/500MHz... :)
Does anyone have the Overdrive panel enabled for a X800 Pro? I tried Catalyst 4.6 and 4.7Beta but the tab isn't shown.
atitool shows gpu temp?
You can have ATi Tool show the temp in the system tray...
I told ya - all you need is make the cooling a little better.... it's a little stupid to run your X800 @84C... :rolleyes:Quote:

yea 84c is very hot. my x800pro modded to xt with 1.41v 520/560 hits 76c full load, right now idle'n at 43c but its very hot and humid today. ive got a 120mm fan on a home made stand as kind of a card cooler set up tho.
I'll try it with the arctic cooling vga silencer :)
My card also runs very hot. 80-81 C under load. And this is outside the case, without mods. Guess I have to install waterblock as soon as possible.
Oh, by the way, Sapphire VIVO Success here :)
I'll run my card as Pro having 16 Pipes as long as I'm waiting for the silencer to be available in shops near me.
What's about AquaMark3 and 3DMark'03 detecting only 128MByte of texture RAM on my board? ATi Tool and catalyst (4.6/4.7Beta) both report 256MByte, but benchmark suites seem to fail detecting it correctly. And the ATi Ruby demo still won't run without having the AGP Aperture Size set to 256MByte.
Is there anything wrong or is this normal behavior?
Edit:
Here's my AquaMark3 results page (everything at default settings, 12 pipes): http://arc.aquamark3.com/arc/arc_vie...run=1286453271
It says that I've half the video RAM the card should have... ?!
Dunno, but I tried 64 MB AGB Aperture and Ruby runs just fine.Quote:

I'm afraid that there's something wrong with my X800... any ideas?
I could not find a tool that displays me details about my card (SANDRA or AIDA don't know the R420).
I'll try a few things (flash back my pro-with-12pipes-BIOS and so on) and hope to get a X800 compliant VGA Silencer anywhere.
Bad news for you, i`ve tried to re-flash original BIOS, and 16 pipelines still remain. I tried even flash it with BIOS placed on the same web-site (station-drivers r80p256d.f1) where the Gigabyte BIOS "4 pipelines unlocker" is placed.Quote:

Didn`t work for me, so we`re all most likely convicted to 16 pipelines till someone writes BIOS, which locks 4 pipelines.
What im wondering is if its the same 4 pipelines that are disabled in every card. I might have the whole pipeline thing misunderstude.
I have a backup of the original BIOS ("flashrom -s 0 fullbios.rom 64") and re-flashed it using the GigaByte flasher ("gvf11 -p fullbios.rom -f").Quote:

Using this method I can go back to my original PowerColor X800 Pro BIOS with 12 pipes any time I want - and it perfectly works :)
I'm thinking of ordering one when they come back into stock.
Is this the right card?

 I didn`t try flashing my original bios with Gigabyte gvf, maybe that`s the reason why i didn`t locked`em again.Quote:

Nevertheless - how is your temperature after locking 4 pipelines? I didn`t check it before flashing so i don`t know whether my Sapphire runs veeeeeeeeery hot @520 MHz or only veeeery ;)
Core temps are 46°C / 76°C with 12 pipes and 50°C/80°C with 16 pipes. I can't go higher than 510MHz with 16 pipes enabled where core temp rises up to 86°C before Catalyst resets the card or the system locks up.
I'll go and get myself a better cooling before flashing my card to an XT-PE again.
Since I've played with clock speeds and different BIOSes Far Cry shows up very bad frame rates (<20fps 1280x1024). And 3DMark2003 build 340 still displays only 128MBytes of video RAM where dxdiag says I've 256MByte. Could be a driver issue or a configuration problem.
So playing around with settings costs me a lot of time where my wife isn't happy about :)
Wish my Sapphire x800pro wud mod to an XT :( current clocks are 590/570... passing 3DMark2003.... no volt mods... DangerDen waterblock :(
anyone noticed a problem running 256meg agp apt.? i cant pass 3dmark01se set at 256 but set at 64 it runs just fine.
i ducted my A/C into my case and at 520/560 im gett'n 33c idle and 67c load. so far ive been able to clock up to 540/570 at 1.41v and 16pipelines with this low ambient temp. ive also done away with atitool as i believe it fubared my registry on my other drive. 233x10 and 520/560 was all the higher i could run, 240x10 nd 520/560 wouldnt run also 200x11 and 530/560 wouldnt run. Now on a diffrent drive 250x10 and 540/570 is working perfectly. close'n in on 29k in 3dmark01se but i still havnt gotten a good car low run with this s939 set up yet and drag low's looking poorly for these clocks. Not sure what the cause of it is yet tho.
Pictures say no but discription says yes.Quote:
