Another shot of the VDIMM completed.
And the last..
U can use either a 50K 20K or 10K VR if your good.. I just used whatever i had which was a 50K.
Thank's very much now I just gotta wait on the board :D
Has anyone used a 20K VR for the vcore is so what where the result's I can find any 50K vr's around here so I'am S>O>L unless I can use say 2-3 10k in line making a 20k or 30k vr. Or if someone could use a 20k and tell me what there setting in bios and output was that would be great.
:(
hi
just got one a couple of days ago
but the vdimm issue is very annoying
that is, sometimes, the vdimm will stay @ 2.65v no matter what volt is set in the bios, any suggestions? ive flashed to the 0716 bios already
Victor
I bougt one. Now i'm waiting it to come.... can't wait :D
Damn simple v-mod's though..
I cant remember exactly whats its called now since i dont have the replacement board yet, but change the setting for system performance back to normal.. That will up the VDIMM .1Quote:

The voltmods are great!
my twinmos winbond bh-5 are going at 270 ddr 2-2-2-5-1 primestabel 24h.
now i need some cpu-cooling :P

thanks m8
it helps
also, i find out that with 0716 bios, when MP adjustment is enabled, vcore drop to 1.3x v when set 1.55v, and even if ya disable the MP adjustment later, a clear of CMOS is need to get vcore to normal, does anyone else have such a experience?:(
Victor
Yes this is a common peob with this board.. I dont think anyones figured out yet why it happends when it does. But if it does just pull the power plug and flip the power on button a few times, plug it back in and power up.. If it still does it then just cold boot a few times till its normal.. Thats one thing that bothered the hell outa me and i believe i only experianced that prob with bios later then 5-14.Quote:

I dont have a 50K VR but do have 2 10k VR's so I really need to now if I set bios to 1.55 if a 20K vr would work.
What is the correct way to measure (with a multimeter) to make sure im getting the max resistence so i dont fry anything using a 10k pot when doing the vdimm mod? Do I solder everthing down first and measure?
Also once everthing is complete, can I turn the knob to get higher volts when the comp is running and what points on the mobo would i use to check the vdimm voltage when the comp is on? anyone have pics?
As you can tell im a vmod noob and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Solder the wires on the VR.. Solder one side to the chip leg. Then test the connection with the MM set to ohms. Make sure its higher then 10 ohms for the setting on the MM.. Usually like 20 ohms.. Anyways, hold one prob on the lose wire on the VR then connect the other prob to ground on the board. U should get a reading.. Turn the VR to max so you'll get a 10K reading or close.Quote:

You always want to start out with the vr maxed.. That way when you first boot everything should read as if theres nothing modded..
Oh first thing make sure before you set this mod up to set the vdimm to the minumum and save it.. THat way your safe just incase. You wouldnt want to power up and have the VR set wrong and fry something.
Oh a good thing to use for the ground connection would be a fan header 3 prong plug.. Fine an old fan you dont use and cut the plug off leaving enough wire on it to connect the vr.. The black wire on the plug is ground.. Yank the other 2 out to be safe.
Doing the above is a good way to dissable the mod if something goes wrong..
Oh.. I dont know if it will be a good idea using a 10K for the vdimm.. If anything you should use 2 10K VRs together or a 20K insted.
If you have one of those 15 turn VR's then its safe to adjust it while powered up.. Use the reading in the bios when adjusting or hit the "Pause/Break" key durring post where it shows the voltage readings at the bottom of the screen.. That way it will just hold there and the readings are still working and then ya dont have to enter the bios.
Turn the VR really slow and steddy. Turn it too fast or jerk it up or down and ya risk blowing something up.. usually the ram.. You'll hear a POP!
Though you should be fine and safe to adjust with the 15 turn VR.. since it takes a full turn to move it a little.
If your using something else then adjust with the power off.. Little hair turns at a time inbetween powering up..
Remember when you lower the VR resistance it will up the voltage.. So when you lower it from 10 down to 8 and lower it will raise the votlage.. Since you'll be starting at 10K it might be well over 3volts on boot.
Wait for the answer! I have no idea since i hav'nt done the vcore mod.Quote:

Hold out for the info.. no need to fry something. Ya could order a 50 online if ya have to.
eclypse: thanks for the detailed proceedure
The thing i'm unclear on after reading your post is if a 20k pot would be better because it has more resistence therefore safer when turning the knob because the resistence starts off high at 20k. is this correct? if it is, then i'll use the 20k pot instead
Also where are the vdimm measuring points on this mobo?
Yeah 20K would be better.. Hell i'm using a 50K. Not that you'll need a 50K though.. I have no idea where to read it on the board.
Waiting but took to long to get a amswer the modded bios is fine for what I need. But I would still like to Know if a 20K vr would work for the vcore mod.Quote:

anyone know what the best bios for this mobo is up to date?
bump, read above thread pls ^
The modded 7/16 for 1.8vcore or 5/14 should be good, but different boards had better results with other bioses.
anywhere i should look in particular for the 5/14?
I recently have made the vcore mod and vdimm mod, now i am at 260fsb 1:1 with my kingston 3200 hyperX Bh5, but i have reach my limit 10x255, i can push up the memory to 270 with no memtest errors but i cannot put my cpu to 2600Mhz, i have read the thread so maybe the 4HTT is stopping me, i will test when i go home, anyone have any other idea that why is this happening?
Sorry for my english i am working on it :bananal:
That's a good place to start, let us know how that goes.
i have set de HTT to 2x 3x and no way to go maybe is the CPU that can“t go up more :( any other suggestion?
If i go up with the HTT in asyncronic like 300 and memos 250 can i have more performance? or is the same?
the HTT have any improvement?
what resistance gives people +300mv on the vcore?
I've only got a 20K pot here, and really dont feel like going out and buying a 50K
