The GPU's are overclocked by increasing the Base clock from 100, ie 110 = 10% gpu overclock. The A6-3650 has a 444mhz gpu stock, and the a8-3850 has a 600mhz gpu. Also, the voltages for the GPU must be increased slightly if you are reaching say more than 130bclk.

I really need a modded bios for my mobo, the best I can get is 150bclk. The CPU isn't very bad (more like mediocre) - 3977 for validation and 3540(I believe it can do up to 3560 but 3540 suits the rest of the system) stable (with graphics @ 894 and memory @ 2200CL9) but I am really annoyed by the bus limitaion. I can boot with 150Mhz(as you can easily calculate this = 900MHz gpu, and mine boots up to 980 normally with oc on everything so when only it is clocked it should do even more) and every MHz up gives me a crash. This cannot be motherboard limitation, has to be something elese.
P.S. For now I got P1713 on 3DMark11 on room temperature, will try open window soon.
why do u not overclocking with APU multiplier? Its open...
how is it with Llano LN2 overclocking and coldbug (with hd6550d active)?
i never tried ln2 with the IGP, but as i saw with other using ln2 on llano i can say that there's no coldbug using the igp..so you can go with full pot:up:
Update, got my Mushkin 996997 memory.. most likely BFR. Very happy with it so far, now I can actually overclock my A6-3650. Cpu voltage is 1.5875 and I don't think it needs that much, memory 1.72v and could probably be lower or tighter timings. FYI I am using a PCIX 6670 not the onboard graphics, at least until I get a DVI cable so I can overclock and use the onboard output (for dual graphics w/ the 6670). This is just with corsair A50 air cooling, and it could probably go to 3.9 or 4 ghz.

some issue? At F1A75-V Pro I can not get over 3700 MHz wprime1024M...its really limit of APUs with air?
Most of the APUs are done between 3.5-3.7...you might gain a little more by using discrete graphics.Quote:

The big hype and misinformation came from fake chinese results using MSI Burst Mode, and word that overclocking was held back by BCLK. Truth is, Llano just doesn't have OC headroom and FM1 was never meant to be a serious overclocking platform. With a maxed out Llano chip, you will be around the level of a Phenom II x4 980 BE on air/water.
That being said, my 3670k does 3.62GHz rock stable on a Custom 15GB size IntelBurnTest run. Idle power consumption is great, but full load is atrocious. I guess we have GloFlo 32nm process to thank for that

i can confirm that unlocked APUs has pretty the same frequency limit of the locked ones, obviously they are easyer to tune for the best cpu/ram frequency...big gains are on ln2 where the big limit is from the locked multiplier..this APUs are capable of easy 170/180mhz bus so with max 29x multi on the A8-3850 the maximum frequency doable is around 5/5.2Ghz...with a 3870K you can easy go past 5,6ghz...
Yeah my A8-3850 with F1A75M-Pro maxes out at around 3.64GHz with discreet graphics card. Running 140fsb at 1.45v. This thing love ram though.
For those who don't know the locked processors (3650,3850) can also run multipliers below their stock multiplier, just not above. This is really useful on the 3850 to run a 26x multi.
I would say this is a yes, my results on air where close to the same as what i got out of my 3850, For the 3x 3870's i have. They all clocked to around 3.8ghz on air, but admittedly I didnt spend much time tuning them on air.Quote:

I think the only way to separate the IGP portion of the chip from the rest of the clocks is to use a Gigabyte mobo which supports that feature.
Any hopes that Asus will integrate that in their BIOSs? The latest bios of my motherboard is the first that supports any kind of gpu multiplier modifications and doesn't work as I would like to.

[b] 3870K-A8 processor [/ b] is trying to entice a buyer multiplier only open for part of the processor, but also for the graphics core. Anyway, it's easier debugging and a lot of work to be made when the clock locked siblings. Even though everything is fine-tuning as the Llano CPU and graphics at the same time perhaps the most difficult part of processors present. We have restrictions attached output when no signal we may fall out, there are a few links STRAP values and memory clock running at graphics card via the BCLK, also increasing the NB-APU cycle. The speed can repeat that performance on the processor itself has an impact not only CPU frequency, but also its inner part (APUNB). The graphical part, of course, affects the frequency of the processor core and tact and timing of operating the processor can pamětí.Obecně nataktovat stable at 3500-3700 MHz and happiness according to GPU then it's around 800-900 MHz frequency stable. The validation of popular software, I used the AI Suite II, with whom I have excellent experience. Maximum boot into windows was possible while "only" at a frequency around 3750 MHz, high frequency idlení helped me the above-mentioned software. I shifted the voltage slightly above 1.55V and hope in the magic 4 GHz. And it really succeeded :-). The final stop on the frequency 4079 MHz.

Wprime to 1024 was the most demanding benchmark, not different from the maximum boot. 3744 MHz was the final time-value of 314s that fit well. This corresponds to roughly calculate the speed of processor core i7-930 or slightly overclocked Core i5-2500K.

Superpi to 1M decimal places with luck I somehow passed at 3900 MHz. I also tried other attempts, but they have not yet led to results. Time 19s, however, indicates that the processor trotlil maybe a little, not too effective. Superpí 32M I tried both the older Windows XP and the new Windows Seven.

After the first part of today's 2D, we see that the board is doing with the APU processor really brilliantly and certainly one of the top motherboard socket FM1. Power circuits were only lukewarm, even after high overclocking. With this album, I think you can go boldly on some extreme games.
As I last lure you to the 3D tests, so now delivering on its commitment. And it was not easy for several simple reasons. The first reason is that my monitor is only output on the D-SUB or HDMI. This is partly a stumbling block. D-SUB leave BCLK frequency limit soon and you are literally in the dark-monitor will not display anything. The HDMI is the ceiling in my case 150 MHz bclk. Power consumption
Upon request, a few fans, I also measured a total of four points of voltage and frequency of the total consumption of the PC without a monitor. Measurements were made using socket watmetru. Group contained the motherboard F1A75-V PRO, 2GB RAM 2x 2000 MHz at 1.75V, Corsair AX1200W (largely ineffective in this group), 1x HDD Samsung F1 500GB, 3870K-A8 CPU cooling Noctua NH-D14.
I first processor přetaktoval to nearly the maximum stable frequency to voltage 1.55V. It was 3728 MHz and 894 MHz processor, integrated graphics core. This would probably want to run the APU enthusiast or player who really does not have a dedicated card in prices around 3000 CZK. The second profile was reasonable overclock with a relatively low voltage (but not by tuning to the lowest limit), while maintaining decent performance even on iGPU. The CPU was at 3400 MHz, the graphical portion of 816 MHz. The third condition was the default (3000MHz and 600 MHz graphics core) with all energy saving features active. Interestingly, my piece was essential 1.392V voltage and the voltage is certainly quite exaggerated. The last condition was podvoltování CPU frequency. At 3000 MHz and just enough to 1.285V.

As you can see, except the maximum OC is not very large savings in a state of calm. Even in the load is not a terrible number, only a little jumps maximum overclock. The default and reasonable overclocking is only 16W, and the difference if we take the other side, the default setting and podvoltováním is 18W. Anyway, these are measurable differences and a similar procedure can be done at home-saving PC. In addition, the Asus board is offset option and even that will help you shrink a little more consumption.
PS: I recorded the latest BIOS and now works for the divider bars iGPU better! It is possible to move the bars a little further.

@FlanK3r, are all the wprime benchmarks on win xp? I managed to do higher frequencies than you but I think the stupid win 7 is holding me back on some of the benchmarks. I will try sub zero room temperatures if it gets colder (I hope I haven't missed the last chance), today I benched only on 11 degrees ambient temperature as it got from 5 to 8 degrees outside... The 3870 gets extremely hot with high clock and voltage, mine wants 1.58V for best results on short tests and aroun 1.56V for longer tests. My previous Phenom II X4 940 wasn't that hot at 4.1+GHz. I have all the benchmarks I've done up in HWBot, but I'm too lazy to upload them all. I forgot to redo the validation, too, so I haven't made my last call. :)
