SORRY,double
I've just got some emails with some useful info you guys may be interested in along with some new UEFIs that may solve the issues, so let me know your experiences :up: Here is a copy/paste jobby of the most relevent email;
UEFIs I have been sent will be uploaded to the first post.Quote:
Here is the status update.
1.Floppy drive not detected in Windows unless it is set to the highest BBS priority in the UEFI.
Hans already tested. No issue found.
2.Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1800 PCIe TV tuner/DVR card will not install
We didn't have the same or similar device for testing
3.Creative X-Fi Platinum PCI will not install in the lower PCI slot, installation is successful if the card
is moved to the upper PCI slot.
Attach BIOS may have chance to fix it.
4.Logitech G19 keyboard does not work properly
Attach BIOS may have chance to fix it.
5.Razer Copperhead mouse is not working in UEFI, pointer is stuck in the middle of the screen and can only be
moved up and down.
Attach BIOS may have chance to fix it.
6.- Problems picking up 2nd video (GTX 470) when running in SLI mode. Out of 5 boots into Windows, it fails
to pick up the second card about 3-4 times. This is happening completely random. Supplementary Molex power
connector is plugged in. (user reported)
Test with 2 EVGA GTX470 without seeing the same symptom.
I suggest update VGA driver or chage the SLI bridge for try.
If possible, please test the VGA card with powerful power supply or use two SLI bridge to connect VGA card for try.
Hi Ket just tried d/l the bios update and I get a message saying file is unavailable. Could you please check on this. TIA
Download working now:)
How come the bios update is not on official forums, how did the OP get the BIOS?
I think he is a rep for Asrock. Kind of sucks that they don't have their own forum:( Just bought another Asrock board the Extreme 7 hopefully it works as well as my Extreme 4.
I have applied this bios update and the mouse is still stuffed, just a heads up to anyone that has the mouse problem.
Bios update did not fix my issues either:( At least asrock is trying to fix issues. Hopefully a few more updates will correct all the problems.
Alright, I'll add it to the list. I'm not sure where all these perhipheral problems have come from they are as good as non-existent on the P67 & Z68 non Gen3 boards.
I'm having issues with my Logitech MX 518 mouse not working in the bios and about every tenth start one of my 470's isn't recognized. Thanks for your support Ket:)
Hi guys, i got a question about the extreme 7 gen3 and the extreme 4 gen3.
-1> On the specs of extreme 7 it says:
2 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s connectors by Intel® Z68, support RAID (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, RAID 5, Intel® Rapid Storage and Intel® Smart Response Technology), NCQ, AHCI and "Hot Plug" functions
On the specs of extreme 4 it says:
- 2 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s connectors, support RAID (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, RAID 5, Intel® Rapid Storage and Intel® Smart Response Technology), NCQ, AHCI and "Hot Plug" functions
Does that mean the extreme 4 its not on the z68??
-2> on the extreme 7 also says 2x sata3 on intel Z68 and 2x sata3 on marvell, so thats mean u cant get 3x ssd on raid 0 ?
My brother did a video review on the Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 over on YouTube, but the actual write up is on his website/forums. OP might want to add this to his first post of this thread.

i have the extreme4 gen 23 p67 board and i am running HD 5870 in xfire
i have noticed there is a molex connector on the motherboard
its just by the Digi Power heatsink.
do i need to have this connected ?
Attachment 121041
If you gpu(s) are running fine then you don't need it. It is just to make sure the high end gpus get enough power across the pci-express lanes. So if you are have stability issues with 2 card, etc then use the molex to give the lanes the extra power it needs to keep them stable.
had no issues
but have now connected it anyways
cheers for the reply
By chance does anyone own both the Extreme 4 and 7? I just bought the 7 and hope that it oc's the same as my 4 does now. I bought the 4 not realizing that I couldn't do 3 way SLI:( Hopefully the 7 works out and I can sell the 4 at a good price.
Picking up a Extreme7 in the next few days. The board seems a little green yet with the few complaints noted here, i'm hoping we have more users out there without issues.
Finally have most of the parts for my new build using the ASRock Z68 Extreme 7 Gen 3 board with i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz and G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) F3-17000CL11Q-16GBXL. Planning on installing Win7 Ultimate 64 to a single Mushkin Enhanced Chronos Deluxe MKNSSDCR120GB-DX 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) connected to one of the native Intel SATA III ports with ACHI enabled and not the ASMedia SATA III ports.
Prior to installing the OS I plan on updating the UEFI to the latest 1.30 version and enabling in the UEFI memory settings XMP and selecting the 2133 profile to support the G.Skill sticks.
Am I missing or overlooking anything as I want to avoid any problems and hoping for a smooth initial install
Seems like the ASMedia SATA and USB drivers and Intel drivers on the ASRock site are old compared to what is at Station Drivers. Is it recommended to use the ASRock d/l or CD 1rst then update to the latest at Station Drivers?
Thanks in advance for any tips

I just received my Z68 extreme 4 gen 3:D
For the people that have mouse problems in the UEFI can they try the following bios:
http://www.pctreiber.net/asrock-bios-downloads?did=339
It got posted by a german asrock rep and it fixed the mouse problem for some users there. For example a user with a logitech G5 mouse got his problems fixed using that bios:D
