shtty scores for the clocks but w/e i'll try to tune it up some more this week
today i put my kayl pot on the cpu/gpu.i only have 1 tempmeter so i put it on the 980...was giving the card a shot glass a minute or so 2-3hrs and i did not cb the card.
i was wanting to try 05 today ... i'll try harder next time still have 20l left

This graph really paints the picture. We're really able to pick off the Gainward GTX 470 Golden sample here and at the same time we pass the HD 5870 2GB, normal HD 5870 and GTX 465 at 860MHz core as well. You can see for yourself we're really not all that far from the overclocked GTX 470 and the stock GTX 480.

I just use the dos based nvflash. Yes the other ones are 1gb and the one labeled 768 is the 768mb version. I want to make you aware that I haven't been able to test the 768 bios b/c I don't have the card. I just grabbed the bios from techpowerup and added the code to unlock to 1.212v.

Got my cards installed earlier and have had some time to play with them a good bit now... my motherboard allows for either PCI-E 2.0 x16 when sandwiched, or PCI-E 2.0 x4 with breathing room for the cards. I first tried sandwiched (note that the fans actually end up taking the full 2 slots even though the pictures don't look it) but the top card was running a full 25c higher than the bottom (around 55c vs. 80c top/bottom during a game). So, I am trying them with the x4 speed, and the temps are virtually identical on each card (within 2-4c now) at full load after gaming awhile.

The good news for me is they ARE very quiet.... I have it at 82% fan speed and it is as quiet as the rest of my case fans for this Gigabyte 1GB pair (dual fans). Color me impressed on that. The other good news is that they run like gangbusters in the only game I've tested so far, BattleField Bad Company 2. Also, I was able to flash them with an MSI BIOS that was modded to allow up to 1.212v (thank you NCspecV81 of XS) instead of the 1.087v normal cap in Afterburner.

Running at 2560x1600 8x CSAA, 16x HQ Anisotropic Filtering (AF), max in-game settings with HBAO on in DX11 mode *AND* Transparency MSAA enabled in the control panel, my overclocked Gigabyte 1GB GTX 460's in SLI are pulling off around 55minimum (usually 60), and 75-80 average FPS for me across the different maps of BFBC2. This is, mind you, with them running at PCI-E 2.0 x4 instead of the full x16, which means around a 10% performance loss from what I have read.

The bad news is I can't nail down a stable overclock yet like I was hoping to that is sky-high. So far I am running 880mhz core on both cards with 3900mhz on the memory... not quite as high as I was looking for, and this is with 1.100v on the cores. They currently max out at around 76c for the pair at these speeds after an hour+ of gaming in BFBC2 with the 82% fan speed (note again that it REALLY is quiet, these fans don't get loud at all :) ).

The silver lining here, however, is that I am able to get 950+mhz on the core with 4000mhz-4100mhz memory with 1.212v, but the temperatures go up into the mid-high 80's... I haven't fiddled enough with lower voltages and various clock combos yet to see if I can get a fully gaming-stable setup in the low-to-mid 900's, though it should be possible since some report doing it with single cards. I'm not sure if I'm just running into a barrier due to SLI or what, yet, but we'll see.

I really must say how quiet these are, again, even at 82%... it sounds like my eVGA GTX 470 did at 45-50% fan :D.

I'll update the thread with some benchmarks later if people want them, and any further progress I make on overclocking. Maybe I am expecting too much in SLI off of these things for overclocking, but I'm looking forward to pushing em hard :p !
