which USB3 chipsets are compat./recommended for hackintosh now that apple 'has seen the light' RE: USB3? :D
Yep, it was my work laptop so I couldnt keep the OS on it :D, I have ordered a new Laptop for my birthday.. for Mountain Lion.
On this baby. http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/la...g-series/g780/
USB 3.0 – NEC/Renseas and Etron
Enables USB 3.0 ports for systems using the NEC/Renesas D720200 controller or Etron EJ168
controller. LaCie driver patched by modbin. Installs PXHCD.kext in
/System/Library/Extensions. Caution- this driver may be unstable, causing system boot
errors.
Not happy with the laptop.... so am returning it for a custom laptop :D
So I just purchased the Apple wireless keyboard... which bluetooth adapter do you recommend for my hackintosh?
Sorry man I just moved back to London and I dont have internet at home. Anyways I suggest the BELKIN F8T016/17... I would just go to a local store and pick up a bluetooth stick for $€£5....
:D

Hey David - do windows laptops running OSX have better battery life than if they were running windows? :)
Not really it depends on how good the ACPI power management chooses to drain you Battery throw down clocking the CPU. Aka.. on my powerfull laptop I have no power management so the CPU is at the highest clock, therefore the the battery last less than 2 Hours...
Yeah.. the battery wont last as much if there speedstep and P stages arent on...
Guys check out the Hackintosh Gallery is pretty good!! :D http://www.osx86.net/contest/21504-v...workplace.html
Any ideas how to get HDMI audio working? I just set up a system & everything works. I've looked into HDMI audio walkthroughs & let's just say I can find anything that does a decent job of holding my hand & the explanations are vague.
Here's my hardware:
ga-z77n-wifi (wifi doesn't work, using a USB dongle, I have to get usb 3.0 working)
i5 3570k @ 4ghz (pushing to 4.4 once everything is stable)
GTX 650 (works perfectly w/ the new cuda driver, but no audio, obviously).
I doubt any other info matters.
I'm on 10.8.3 (yep, everything works out of the box basically).
Ideas or can someone point me to a walkthrough for people like me not well versed in kexts & the like?
Edit: Found the only DSDT out there with HDMI audio working out of the game. Took me forever to get it working, but I have everything working & I'm in the process of dual booting w/ Win 7. If it wasn't for luck, I wouldn't have HDMI audio working.
Everything is working on 10.8.3. I believe I have to get USB 3.0 to work. I have a wifi dongle working. I need to test ethernet, but I know that will work. Everything else seems solid.
Are you well versed on how to actually enable HDMI audio? That's been my main issue. Tonymacx86 has a DSDT for the board I'm using (GA-Z77N-Wifi). Solid board, but it's the only one I can use for audio. I can't really get the walkthroughs to work.
I'm currently working on getting the built in wifi to work (I believe a few people have, so I'm trying it myself). Frees up a USB port! Once USB 3.0 is working, I believe I'm done.
OK, so I thought you had the audio working already with the DSDT, but if you want the sounds coming out of the Nvidia HDMI card then you will have to edit the DSDT with the Nvidia card to allow the sound to go through the HDMI port, I will look into it and try to help you out. However the USB3 should work out of the box... have you tried USB Bus FIX and USB legacy off with Champlist? Not sure about getting the Onboad wireless card working. There are a ton of mac compatible wireless card already, so I would suggest buying one for $5 and place it on the adapter on the mobo, that why it would work out of the box.

Thanks buddy.
I spent a while & had to reflash the bios. Not sure why, but the gigabyte bios on my board seems flaky. Then I couldn't get the board to see my video card. This build hates me lol.
Long story short, everything works. I'm going to test usb 3.0 & if it's not working, I'll just use multibeast to get the ports working. Shouldn't be an issue.
I'm also going to swap the intel wifi card for an atheros ar9280 half height mini-pcie card. Supposedly works out of the box. I have one on the way. Should make it a solid build.
Edit:
Not sure if you noticed this, but with update 10.8.3, I had to disable the onboard graphics to make my gtx 650 work.
Coolio, Atheros cards are very compatible... use this driver if you need it? http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?d...id=2311&page=6 I haven't tried the latest update version.. but its weird that it would disable the Onboard GPU?? by the way what on board GPU you got? pretty sure most 600 Series Nvidia cards are supported natively so no need for GraphicsEnabler = Yes.
Howdy David
I'm hoping that you're going to be able to help me out. I just picked up a W370ET of my own and would love to set it up as yours is. Btw, I've seen you posts on other forms as well, did you ever get the sound issue fixed? Regardless, I'm comfortable with messing with really important files to tweak a system but have 0 experience on the level this seems it might take and I can't seem to find ANY other resources out there for this laptop - would you be willing to help me out, or at least point me in a direction? I very much appreciate it, kind sir, and would be more than happy to send you a nice thank you package over there in London or something for your time!
