64NOMIS, thanks. :)
Tomasis, all the info on my system can be found in this thread:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ight=murdermod
Some things have changed since but the watercooling system is almost the same still.
I am so jealous of you c3 owners. 955 c2 FTL . Nice work Zeus
So here is what I managed with some cool air. Tried hard for 4.2ghz, but it wont happen without more coldness... But really a fun chip I must say :)
Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P
AMD Phenom II 965 BE C3
2x2gb OCZ Platinum (rated 1600 7-7-7 1.9v)
CFT 1200G-DF 1200W
Windows 7 32bit Ult
The cooling was done with a lapped and pressure modded TRUE copper with two ultra kaze 3k rpm in push/pull. Paired with an awesome-looking cardboard and duct tape air-tunnel, and a 220v 120mm fan feeding fresh air.
Measured temperature at CPU fan intake: 14C

Anyway, screen at 30min mark with bench running:

Idle 30sec

Idle 1min, not much difference from the 30sec one, so you'll have to klick this one ;)
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...1_done1min.png
And AOD performance control for anyone interested ^^
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...e_perfcont.png
Edit: Just noticed that most of the voltages don't show in aod
Edit2: Added rig pics
What say you?
I rode many times with the AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE and the C2 revision they will not soon be forgot. It broke the 7GHz barrier. They benched 3D like their masters were at their back! It's north bridge and memory controller flowed like stallions in the field. You own a piece of history my friend and at 3.8GHz you are well off indeed!
And if still you despair, you could always sell it, wait a few, and buy something new...
I'm still at work I get out at 1am and the fun begins at about 2am, it's going to be a long early morning
Sometimes people so stress themselves on what they don't have that they miss out on what they do have. I know, I've been guilty of that myself.
It's the pursuit of "forbidden fruit"..
I've been reading about the 965's and they sound nice but the 940 i have here works perfect. Smoothe( yes, that word again) runs cool, stable and does what you want from a machine..Dependable..
Now when are we going to get one of these threads on dual socket machines?:D
Look at the interest there was on the Supermicro board for those new cpu's you guys are bringing out.
Suggestion: Send the IHS measurements and hole spacing for the HS to some of the big aftermarket HS makers ahead of time like ThermalRight so they can do their magic and have good HS ready when the boards hit the streets.;)

Hey bud, I know this isn't exactly what you asked for, but I did put this C3 under water and have spent many a night already shivering with the window open... :yepp:
If I had Titans Rad, Equinox's Chiller, or Charged's garage I'm sure I could do alot better... :D
I posted my ambient AIR temps here:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...4&postcount=29
This 965 ROCKS, but I got kind of tired of freezing my butt off with the window open... :p:
I know Cinebench isn't the same as a 1/2 hour of P95, but I still consider it pretty stable... C3 is a GREAT chip man, Thanks!

Well heres a rundown of all my results from this thread
4.1ghz 32bit prime with ambiant water http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...5&postcount=56
4.3ghz 32bit prime chilled watercooled + 4.6ghz validation http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...8&postcount=77
4.1ghz 64bit prime ambiant water http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=105
4.5ghz 3dm06, 4.5ghz superpi1m, 4.5ghz wprime, and a 4.4ghz cinebench 64 http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=144
And todays result
4.28ghz 64bit prime chilled water

Nothing like chilled liquid...:)
Great results guys, C3 rocks!
I guess this is it for the first half?
Curious what the second part will bring, i hope no 3D test, i only have one HD4870.
Ok, one more kick at the can. -2C here last night, so set my water rig in the window again (see previous pics, and I have to say again that I really liked your plank Simon!).
I'm not going to beat anyone's scores with my 0942FPMW (thought of selling it but it's still faster than my 550be, which I've been hanging on to as a backup). It bothered me that my 4118 run during the duel with Lastviking was at 2000 nb and 1333 ram, so I bumped those up rather than try to squeak out a couple more mhz.
I ended up with a .5 hour prime95 stable 4108, 2739 nb, 1660 ram @ 7-7-7-21 1T 28 90. I'm using it day to day at ambient room temp @ 3875, 2750, 1666 same timings.
Screenies are 30 min load, aod settings, and 5 min after end of test. CPU voltage is 1.5875 (+.1 in bios doesn't show on cpu status). I ran it to 1.6375 trying for 4125, but it would reboot after 10 or 15 min.
I set the cpu to 3700 and stock voltage, and determined what I needed on cpunb for 2000, 2200, 2400, 2600, and 2800. I'll edit those in when I get home (working again lol).
Updated:
2000@1.025, 2200@1.075, 2400@1.125, 2600@1.225, 2800@1.35
IIRC, I was at 1.35 for 2800 and 1.225 ish for 2600, which means I'd probably need 1.4875 or more for 3000 the way it was scaling. I may try at 2900 just for fun, but it seems a nice balance at 2750 and 1.325 for day to day.
Sorry to hear that you are without your C3. Plan to try again when you receive your new chip?
Yeah, my single 4850 will be a hindrance in 3dmark. Maybe I can cf it with my old xt1950 pro or x800gto2 :horse:
I need a new mobo I have to push 1.45v on cpunbv for 2.8ghz nb
For those who wish to continue down this path. You have elected the way of pain!

Chapter 2 Guidelines Posted
That is the experiment. Added also the CPU temperature graph to see how temperature rises and crests through the test.
It's an opportunity for some DRAM tuning and to see how much of a hurdle that a fixed multiplier creates with a lower (10X) and upper (17X) bound.
"five minutes to twelve" i add my experience with 0942 EPMW. AIR, cooler master Hyper 212. Im back from work and very qucikly and in chaos i run PRIME (but i forgot changing NB multiplier at 13 in BIOS). So only 3970 MHz with 1.488V (aod setings voltage is not correct) and 2400+ MHz at NB. Ambients 20C. Its not maximum, max i have 4010 MHz with 2672 MHz at 1.502V. Ok, now some screens and photos :)

Chapter two looks like fun :)
Also added a few rig pics to my earlier post.
Yeah, looks like it but once you start trying you'll see how hard it is.
Nice challenge Simon!
Let me kick off with 290 HT:

You guys have no idea what a frustrating time i had getting there, i could boot into windows at 330HT!

More to come for sure. :)
