Jeez your shaders clock much better than mine .
Hi guys!
I've read all of your posts in that topic and I must say I'm shocked how well GX2 works for you. I was wondering if you could probably help solve my problem. I have the Gigabyte MA790X-DS4 motherboard with AMD 9850 Quad Core CPU. I bought the GX2 and the overheating problems started as the card generates temperature 73C idle and around 83C at full load. Games used to crash the computer after about 1 hour.
I bought 2x 120mm fan and mounted one on the side of the case as intake and another one on the back as outtake. I also mounted an additional 60mm fan at the front of the case as an intake. I read that the GX2 card likes to heat up all motherboard components and that's why the system is unstable. This kind of solution worked pretty well for 1400x1050 resolutions I used to play in, but then I bought the 30" monitor and started playing on 1920x1080. The stability problems appeared again. I resolved the problem when I set up the fans on the GX2 at 80% and finally I can play without crashing, but the fans are loud as hell.
I read how you overclock your cards and get great results, but geez what kind of case cooling do you use? I can barely play with the heat the card generates at mere 12000 3dmark06 points.
I don't know who else to ask so maybe you can give me some ideas what to do, maybe another configuration of case fans is needed to better cool the inside or I bought the wrong motherboard to use with this card. I wish GX2 was sold with water cooling blocks :(.
Regards!
EDIT: The card is BFG 9800 GX2 and I'm using 175.16 drivers.
What case do you have? I have a Stacker 832 with 7x120mm fans which provides very good airflow. Although you seem to have a good number of fans in your case.
As for the GX2, I run my fan at 100% 24/7. This helps to keep the temps. at a reasonable level, although still quite a bit hotter than my 8800GTS ran with an HR-05GT/120MM Noctua fan combo. No such options for aircooling on the GX2, but there are waterblocks available for it:cool:
Guys i have no idea what to do with my setup i have quad sli two 9800 gx2's any guys you guys suggest i feel my system is over kill
My problem: i cant use two monitors on Evga 9800 GX2 !!!
- drivers 175.15 whql
- windows vista home premium 64bit
- two monitors turn on ( always )
- dualview function is not available in nvidia control panel
But when i mount Evga 9800 GTX KO everything is working
Some ideas ?
What rendering settings do you guys use in COD4 ?
I did have a strange grabbing on the graphics every 8 sec`s or so with the nvidia option so i changed it to AFR2 and got the same ,but with AFR1 it seems to have gone.
Any 1 else had anything like this ??
Update;
I decided to use the 175.70 beta`s and they work a lot better in COD4 than the 175.16 whql. They seem alot faster and i don`t get the grabbing when using Nvidia default or AFR2 on the rendering option.
We got some more beta`s out...

Another 9800GX2 owner the cards great but im having some serious performance issues with Crysis.
Just got my EK block today for my BFG 9800GX2. Installed it and WOW. My first venture into GPU WC and there's a 50C temp difference (31C down from 81C under load in a quick crysis bench). Holy crap, I am amazed. Loving it. Now for the overclocking!
I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on the 9800gx2 cards. I am a user of the 9800gx2 Evga SSC model, and I have put modded 177.39 drivers in my system with the Nvidia Physx drivers in. I gotta say, these GTX drivers are nothing but greatness w/ the 9800gx2. The only problem I have is getting the 0x0000124 error to stop happening after I get past 3.5.
System is
Asus Maximus Formula Bios 1201
Q6700 at 3.5
4gbs of Crucial Ballistix Tracer 1066
Evga 9800gx2 SSC
WD Caviar 250/16
Cooler Master Real Power 750
I've taken out my Auzen X-Plosion 7.1.. and installed my onboard pcie sound card.. Still the same problems... Anything I should do differently?
Are the 175.19 driver just as crap 4 everyone else here or is it just me ???
As in no saved profiles and i got a dll error on both the install`s i have tried.
Do you have a link to the drivers your using ?
Cheers Paul
seems theres yet another version floating around, maybe two.
Check this You should find info on all the drivers and relevant d/l links. fwiw 177.39 has mainly had really good feedback and I can confirm that profiles are working with it.
do you have to install the physx 8.06.12 driver separately? or can you get the physx functionality with just 177.39?
do either of these need to be modded to work with the 9800gx2? if so, how? links? or should we wait for the official release supporting gx2?
I think you need both drivers and you have to add the modded .inf file to the folder prior to install.
Here is the 177.39 drivers and physx 8.06.12, and moded .inf files:)
