First off, thanks in advance.
I've got this Asus plus board, Tuniq Tower 120, XQ6700 quad and 4gig ( 1 gig sticks ) of Corsair XMS2 4-4-4-12 memory. also eVGA 8000GTX, Windows XP SP2 Pro and running the 602 beta bios or whatever it is.
Crazy BSOD's.
At random, at boot-up, Playing WoW, etc.
I would really like some advice ... not upset yet but I've spend the last 2 days reading this tread and then re-reading it. I cannot make sense of what steps I need to take.
Try:
Checking all temps when loads are 100% (TAT,Speedfan,Everest)
Removing the X-Fi
Removing 2 sticks of RAM
Lowering the latencies of RAM to 4-4-4-12 2T (all other settings AUTO)
Lowering the latencies or RAM to 5-5-5-15 2T (all other settings AUTO)
And run dualcore prime95 torture test with -a0 and -a1, other core can do In-Place large FFT:s while the other does Blend.
Update both your nvidia drivers if you've installed them from the cd.
Also check with your fingers if the chipsets get burning hot during stress.

Turns out it was the memory causing me to BSOD. I took out 2 of the 1gig sticks and everything is working great.
Now, what the heck do I do to get my 4gig working? I love having 3.25 gig of ram in Windows XP / Vista.

I knew about the 2.5, 3 and 3.35 memory limit within 32bit Windows depending on your board.
One final question however, in regards to this Asus board and 4 gigs of ram causing stability issues. Can this be fixed with a new firmware?

new bios is in the pipeline for our boards , heard rumours of a new release for the P5N32-E (Plus) and Striker boards around mid march
hmmz... I am finding the max of my e6600 and went ok up to 3400mhz (8x425 and 1700FSB) When trying 3600 (8x450 and 1800FSB) the pc wouldn't even show the BIOS... just stayed black. When I changed to 9x mp I could get to 3600 so it seems 1800FSB is a wall. Any idea's how to break this wall if possible? The board is a P5N32E-SLI (non plus)
some 680i boards have a hole at 450mhz, try eg 453 so 1812 fsb prolly will work with the correct bios settings...
Goddammit what a load of *bananas*!! I took the computer back inside, and it would no longer boot @ 8x500fsb. I tried 6x500 but no. Clearly the chipset needs to be supercool (around 10-20 celcius), so a small peltier would be in order there. I'm thinking also of going vapo with the CPU, the watercooling just doesn't cut it with 1.7 vcore. :)
Just got a BSOD in 2 gig, but so far, has been rock stable after pulling out 2 of the 4 gig that was installed.
I'm wondering just how stable this firmware is. 0604 or whatever it is. I forget.

Asus responded back but the tech seemed like he did not know about the striker and p5n32-e Plus 4 gig memory issues that seem very well documented.

Don't know, on my Abit I could only reach 460....
Need another mobo to test :D. But I think more it's the mobo that need's more decent cooling to go higher.

Yea the NB definetly needs to be under 20 celcius, with 1.50v. 1.2v HT was 1.55v. If you live in the northern hemisphere, try running your PC outside for one day, see how far it'll go ;)

Sorry, I was away on travel with no PC. I'm sure that fan would fit and probably cool a little better than the heatpipe but then you will have to cool those VR MOSFETs. Yo can use an A8N SLI Deluxe MOSFET Heatsink or get some of those Zalman GDDR RAM coolers that stick on.Quote:

Please let us know how the Vdroop pencil mod works on the Plus. Also, post a clear photo if possible. I've never done a pencil mod so this is a new thing to me.

How do you do it? Just take a 4B pencil and draw a line between the points? I have never done this. Guess i should research a little as no Vdroop is a GOOD thing.
