Back up in post #251 you refereced a kit you just recenlty got from newegg as being D9GMH capable of 540Mhz at 4-4-4-5 up on 2.45v. Well despite reading back through the thread a bit I wasn't able to find out what modules your talking about, could you please let me know what modules you were talking about? The G.Skill is a great kit and I can’t say anything bad about it but you know Micron is Micron it is always what we are looking for, with the G.Skill from the first boot you can run 1:1 @ 400fsb with the ram advertised specs on the other hand with the Crucial you need to tweak it manually you could raise voltage and run DDR800 C3 or relax timings and run DDR800 C4 whatever you wantQuote:

You know Warbler13 I had the same feeling! There are only a few reviews and their not good ones! With that said I usually take the reviews at newegg with a grain of salt because I don't think many people who review hardware are all that knowledgable about memory, overclocking, etc...? Although I really like my modules I've been looking into getting another 2GB kit to play with (Ideally I'd like a kit of GKX, but so would everyone else), lol! While reading through some of the memory reviews last night at newegg I was thinking about how great it would be if reviewers all posted what IC's their RAM used but that probably goes above and beyond most peoples ability?

I ordered two sets, both shipped from the NJ brick warehouse and were D9GMH on brainpower PCB.
I just got lucky. I got "binned down" D9GMH that didnt make the cut for their higher end ram. So those that ordered from the last batch have a good chance of getting D9GMH.
The ram is OOS now though :( Next batch will probably be PROMOS, i'd stay away.

Or did you have a pretty good idea it was Micron? In anycase I'm glad you got lucky, hopefully their run decent despite being a bit binned down!
So did you happen to get your Wintec kit yet and if so did you pull the spreader? Of course their out of stock now but I'm still very curious what their running for chips! Last but not least, what does OOS mean? Thanks again for you help and time!

Then again maybe he means that as far as Corsairs is concerned it doesn't matter because they do a more thorough binning than they get at the vendor? A:These are just sort codes all D9 IC's are the same and since we do our own sorts they are not valid. All of IC's are pre-tested by us before we mount them in many cases Micron will just send us the IC's un-sorted even thou they are marked.
That’s how we ask for them because our sorting process is more thorough then what Micron does, or any IC maker for that fact!

I think Corsair main concern is testing, if the ram can do PC10000C5 then it is fine, cannot they test it @ PC8888C4 and so on it really doesn’t matter for them which IC is used they sell you the advertised speed also Corsair been using lots of GMH lately it is hard to find any GKX it was always found in the good old famous 6400C3 (I think they are not making it any more)Quote:

I noticed that your first page of this thread has not been updated since 25/11. Perhaps there was nothing significantly new since then, but since this thread is such a wealth of info for people looking for best bang for the buck (OCers), I wonder if the G. Skill PK and HK would be candidates for the under $250 category which is clearly lacking in listings.
I would add that I am not in anyway shape or form connected with G. Skill or their products.
Both PK and HK are OOS at the egg at this time.
I do however want to purchase another 2GB of DDR2 6400 for another Conroe gig with my XBX2.
Based on your comments, Crucial 667 is also at the top of my list.
