shimm, are you still using stock NB cooling? If haven't done so yet you need to replace it ASAP with either a swiftech or thermaltake. Pretty positive your board is holding your cpu back should perform on par with mine with a solid board. Its very important with these 975X boards to keep the NB cool and in general around the whole NB area. I use a swiftech mcx159-cu and then a low cfm 120 fan blowing on my ram and NB area. My ram voltage is only 2.15v and rated up to 2.2v so the fan is mostly used to keep the NB area alittle cooler.

I would estimate about 80%, but you may have to run the vCore at about 1.55V (which is a little high).

I just got the Ballistix's on sale from NewEgg, I will be testing them today. Unless you want CAS 3 at about DDR2-800 they certainly are not necessary, but look likes a great deal on some fine RAM. Otherwise, you can find some Elipida ICs for about $200 which should run DDR2-800 at 4-4-4-12 (my Corsair ValueSelect DDR2-667 do). I have read that the OCZ RAM has a lot compatibility problems with various motherboards, I plan to avoid it.

Must be something going round. Left my kit folding while I went for a food shop. Came back trip switch had gone on the electrics and my liberty PSU is dead. Fortunately I managed to test the hard drive on an old P4P 800, and it's working okay. Don't know if anything else has been taken out though??? Will find out tomorrow. Pisser, because a new PSU wasn't really on my list of priorties.

Nice results RacerX. Regards NB cooling I have an extreme spirit II (Is it?) on my NB. Not really making much of a difference to stability.

Just wondered what you guys thought about going down the P5B Deluxe route? I've got my sights set on a Kentsfield somewhere down the road, but would be interested to see how the Xeon performs on it.

No, I'm not on stock NB cooling. I've switched to a swiftech mx159-cu and i do have a fan blowing over the nb and ram areas.

I've pretty much tried everything possible with this board.

I'll have to be satisfied with the fact taht i can dual superpi 32M and small fft for 19 hours.

i'm not going to get rid of the aw9d quite yet as hipro has just told us that abit is releasing a bios soon with the 1333 strap enabled or selectable through the bios.

if you check out the aw9d thread, you'll see that again no one minus 2 people can run blend above 400+ mhz fsb.

the strange thing is if you are under 400 and use something like 4:5, your mem will run fine... it's just 1:1 400+ where you start running into issues with orthos blend.

I think DDR2-800 at 4-4-4-12 would be a sweet spot for me. These are $20 more than the Corsair ValueSelect and seem to be the right specs? Or how about the Fabbody on Ebay? Micron D9DQW

What do yall think?

That could be a good deal, but the 30 day warranty is a little weak compared to the lifetime offered by others.

I just tested out my Ballistix's and it looks like they run DDR2-800 3-3-3-4 at only 2.2V on a BadAxe1.

all aw9d owners know this board just can't do blend test for one reason or another...

the best i've been able to manage is 9 x 401 for 1 hour and 7 minutes.

another small tweak i've found to help run it longer is changing the RMS from default 7.8us to 64clk. it kills your superpi time but it'll increase the amount of time orthos blend will run. this tweak helped me go from 4-5 minutes where it always failed to about 18 minutes. :)

the thing i notice is that it always gets stuck on the third iteration of 1024k fft and before trying to switch to the 4th, it always errors.

Well just got home from work. Guess what? Orthos froze at 21hrs 15min. Not sure what caused it but I suspect the NB just quit on me. I guess I can't complain about running blend over 20hrs on a 975X.:D

You guys with Abit AW9D have you tried running Large ftts? If so how long? Seems its all luck of the draw with these 975X boards as you just never know how good the NB chip will be.

If that's the case then Abit must be getting the worst batch of NB chips from intel.

Seriously, when I say NO ONE... i mean NO ONE (besides 2 people :)) can run blend on the aw9d greater than or equal to 400 fsb for longer than a few hours.

I don't doubt you for one minute but I've have another Asus P5W64 Pro that maxes out around 430 and blend stable at 425fsb. Both came from Newegg, same batch # but the only thing different is the NB # on the chip.

BTW, testing my limitations of my NB as we speak.......and don't ask me why orthos doesn't recognize that I lowered the multi to 8.:(

The hacked version of OS X that I run appears to be a little less stable than Windows 2K Pro, a higher vCore is required to boot OS X. So, anyone looking at my vCore results might want to discount them by 0.03 V for application to Windows.

Are the (rumored) problems running the LGA775 Zeon chips on the 680i SLI chipset for real? :confused:

I bought several Zeon 3060s for a wopping $224 a piece.

@fhpchris: hey, do you just remove the nb/chipset heatpipe and leave the others? yes you can. the NB "arm" comes off VERY easily. Just bend it back and forth with minimal force and it'll practically fall off. :)

how far off do you think the sensors are?

I switched from my abit to my asus p5b and...

temps are WAAAAAY different.

On abit was hitting 65-ish max.

On asus.... 77-80C's.... ridiculous.. same cooling and everything...

What would be the best board to run a 3070?
