Nice guide.
Its a little bit Sad that we have some difficulties when OCing those cards.
Would like to hear that a new version supports the X1950 PRo (from all brands, since it seems that different brands, hace different software to Overclock.
Allright! gAF, you are the man! I haven't been able to implement this memory OCing technique yet, as I've been working quite a bit the last few days. I tried tonight, and so far I am at 770 MHz on the memory. Benches coming soon! I had to set the clocks in Rivatuner by using gAF's advice on page 9 (I think), then saving them in my profile in ATI Tray Tools. This has worked thus far, and I would like to note, unless someone has already said so, that using the artifact scanner in ATI Tool will falsely report artifacts if you overlock the memory. I was using the patched version, too. I used the artifact scanner in ATI Tray Tools, and it worked perfectly fine.
I tried using the timings provided, and they didn't work for me: the screen went black, but no crash. I could still hear my music playing, and I could contol the media player.
EDIT: I have my memory stable at 823 MHz, and OMFG the benches in ATI Tray Tools have increased by a lot! I will have 3dmark scores later on today.
Still haven't gotten the timings going just yet.....if someone could point me towards some reading on video ram timings that would be great, becuase I would rather learn the concept than just be told what to do.
LOL guys look at 3dmark 2006 score of this guy with a x1950Pro AGP and a A64 3700 Clawhamer@2800mhz = 6900 Marks (its impossible)
and in 2005 only get 9600 marks with same system

I edited my max OC to BIOS
now my card defaults at 669/749.... mem timings changes won't help mem to OC more.
You got a good core. What cooling?
Guys I was overclocking last night and running 3dmark 2006 and on 1st test I was getting 50k 49k 47k etc. then it goes to about half that. then in the 2nd test firefly forest I am getting like 16fps? it just kept getting worse. Is this a heat issue? there were no visual artifacts but as the benchmark progressed my fps kept dropping. finally my score is like 6500 in crossfire 641/810 641/756 and the optimal mem timings. Any ideas? My score at stock is about 7.5k in 2006
Firefly forest is the rude test and usually the FPS are about the half (or less) compared with the Canon Flight and Proxycoon test.
It seems like there is no heat issue there.
you said when OCing youve got 6500 and with stock cards youve got 7,500?
If yes, then, it should be a problem, what PSU do you have?
actually I checked, it is 661 Mhz on core. It is watercooled.Quote:

use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard between control and numeric keypad.Quote:

Do you think its a psu issue?
Your PSU is on it's limits when running Crossfire at overclocked cards.Quote:

Adjusting voltage won't give you more power. If your scores increased, then your PSU can''t handle crossfire. Consider OCZ GameXstream 700WQuote:

If you guys would like to post you maximum memory overclock. vendor, and memroy type, that would be great!
Mine is 832 MHz, Samsung BC14:

Btw. You get with AMD X2 3800+ about thousand points more on 3DMark06 and at stock clocks. Damn, I want C2D!
samsung K4J55323QG BC14 gddr3 1.4ns
@binormalkilla my core clocks max about 641-648 on both cards. pcie bus is at 120mhz
So SPacehead thinks its my psu? I need a new one anyway. the on/off switch on the psu broke last night. now I need to unplug the cable everytime with the stupid p5bdlx coldboot problems.
Ill buy the 700w ocz and rma this one and use the replacement as a spare.
I haven't even OCed my core yet, I am ordering a motherboard tonight, as soon as I compile enough research on the matter, freaking newegg.com ran out of the DFI Lanparty CFX3200.....
LOL I don't know much about changing timings, either, but if I find some literature on this issue, I will surely pass it on to you!
You should try the same optimal timings I'm using I posted in the guide above. since we are using the same icsQuote:

I tried them and I got a black screen, but no crash. I will give it a shot again. Should I have the hotkey poller disabled? Becuase I do LOL! Also, any other specific settings that need to be changed let me know. I am setting the memory clocks in Rivatuner, then saving the profile in ATI Tray Tools.
Also, did you change any settings in the ATI Tool patched version?
Are these the optimal timings that you used, or the second one posted by gAF?

Ok that's what I thought, those are the timings that I tried....as soon as I finish researching my products that I"m ordering I'll give it a shot and get back with you, thanks man!
Hey Trans AM, for one reason or the other, I can't run those timings. When I save and apply them, and I try to open another program, such as the internet, I get a black screen. I tried disabling clock auto tuning under X1000 series overclocking, and my mouse cursor turned into a black square! WTF? Anyway, what are you stock timings from Rivatuner? Here are mine:http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...1&d=1166865953
I even double and triple checked myself to make sure that I entered the timings correctly, and everything was ok. Maybe we have the same IC chips, but different ring bus controller.
binormalkilla your mem steps was 27MHz too? and what your bios defaults freqs gpu/mem?
Yes, that is correct, my memory frequency step is 27 MHz, and the default clocks are 635/743, respectively. It already has a decent OC out of the box. When I tried to get the memory up to 850, I had artifacting after only 30s-1 min of artifact scanning in ATI Tray Tools, but with my new mobo and case fans coming, maybe that will change. Has anyone tried OCing the PCI-E bus speed yet for the OC on this card? I have read that this helps.
