What other comments does coolaler have on this boarD? How did he get such high clocks on a conroe while everyone else with this board is getting nowhere near where he got?Quote:

can someone tell me how to turn off C1E?

you, myself and others got caught up in the frenzy over the extreme performance of the ES chips that showed up here in this forum....you have to remember that these guys are savy system builders...they are experts in getting every ounce out of the chip...they are using the best air coolers along with some cherry picked memory and possiblly, boards.
the other thing that has probably affected the overclocking overhead is the new B2 stepping...my understanding is that intel had to make a correction to the cpu structure for Raid 5 high cpu utilization...that small change might have put a limit on the chips output compared to the ES samples.
have you tried any of the software programs that allow multi-change, like CrystalCPUID?...it might not work if the multiplier is locked but give it a shot.Quote:

If we all keep bugging MSI about this, maybe their next bios updates will fix this.
Bios 7.00 miss-reports clock speed on boot and in the Bios “System Information”
If you update to 7.11 with command line switches and over write the boot block, it screws the ide controller. The only solution is to do a complete re-write 7.00 and then come back with 7.11.
If you have an optical on the ide 2, the controller displays the device name but also says there are no drives attached. Moving the optical to ide 1 fixes the problem.
The mem multiplier seems to be hosed, on auto it correctly sets 1:1 but often displays the wrong speed. Move it off auto and manually set 1:1 and the board won’t post until you power off and restart. Move to 1:1.25 and again you have to power off to get it to accept the change. Once you post at 1:1.25 (which in my case 438fsb), then it will continue to work fine as long as you power off on each shutdown. Try to just restart from Windows and it will fail, you have to power down.
PC Alert reports screwed up temps, CPU @ 178C in my case. Dual Core Center doesn’t function at all. I haven’t found anything to use temporary as an alternative. Some people have reported Dual Core Center working but I don’t think they were running conroes.
As previously discussed, there are no downward multipliers. Memory tweaking is almost non-existent, they only options are CAS Latency, RAS to CAS delay, RAS Precharge, and TRAS.
This is just a short list of what I’m seeing so far. Others may not be having these problems. Although it becomes somewhat of a wrestling match, once you get it setup the board extremely stable and fast, but I don’t think they’ll be any WR’s set here… :)
pcdoc1, what's your max FSB?
You forgot one thing, Coolaler is very much a world class overclocker. So far he's shown me he's right at the top of the list. Others top clockers get the goodies like he does also but with Conroe so far he is in the top two maybe three clockers in spi.Quote:

I got the board hoping MSI will do something with the bios and I will have a fast stable board that I could drop a Kentsfield in.
I never thought it was a top board or Coolaler would have used it instead of the BX board.
It only cost $179 shipped so I am happy so far.
If he can't drop the multi, it sure can't be much with a 10 x unlessQuote:

geez!...what a waste!!!
you use world class...i use savy, and expert!Quote:

PowerDown edition.

This board v.2 hasnt been out hardly more than a week. Mine along with dozens of others are coming in next week. There will be plenty others who come across problems just as with the other conroe boards in their first couple weeks.

For whatever reason the board left the cpu voltage at 1.52 after the FSB reset thing. Now I can not get the voltage down from 1.52..Now this board is scaring me:D
The stepping 6 B2 seems to be what i consider, the problem plaguing all of these boards. Whatever intel did to correct the raid 5 problem, screwed us OC wise.. lets hope another core revisions hits the processors soon, or we all will have mediocore oc's on any 975x board. :(
Its not just conroes, my PD950 sucks at OC on this board (5.1 Ghz tops and Now i can't even make it there). My friends P4 630 wouldn't get past 3.97. We need some bios updates to fix these bugs. Sometimes the board OCs well, and other times it craps out...seems like a buggy bios to me.
Can you guys tell me about MSI 975X PE "FSB & Memory Clock Ratio" ?
I can't understand what is : 1:1, 1:1.25, 1:1,33, 1:1,66, 1:2.
I just choose 1:1 because as i knows that my memory will run 1:1 to FSB Freq..
Correct me if i am wrong
Of course with a new revsion most us still have to eat this problem, they certainly won't replace our chips...Quote:
