They both get hot only the north MCH is going to hold back any overclock. The temps are reading from the south ICH and not combined. Stick a small 40x10mm fan on both costs about £6. Run them both from the motherboard headers in silent mode you can't hear them and your temps with drop to 30C at 400MHz.Quote:

And from what has been reported the mosfets seem to be the coolest part of the board, so no need for any type of cooling other than a case fan blowing down on it.
I was planning on doing that as well, until all the reports have come in regarding temps, seems an unnecessay hassle. Will just put vga ram heat sinks on them just in case and call it good.
That heatpipes are already crap with that board ( if you put off you 'll undestant what I mean ... ) so RMA would bring me same problem :p:Quote:

I think the heatsink on the standard ASUS cooler is just there to act as additional cooling for the NS heatpipe system, not to cool whats actually underneath it (if that makes sense).

I also installed two 40mm fans (exactly the same ones as you) on the North and South bridge. My MB temps dropped from 50C to 41C at the momment (32C room temp). It drops even more when it's not so hot outside. When room temp is around 27-28C my MB temps is 38C.
Does anyone know if the Zalman CNPS9500LED fits without problems with the fan on the NB?
