Startup means "basic" VCore. Just let it at "Auto" if you want, and play with VID X%. But everything counts on how much are you aiming to get.
Regards!
PS: Sorry if my english is not very good :P
I'm having a problem with 43 C NB chipset temps... How can i fix this?
43c isnt a problem on NB.....they can go to 65-70 (official DFI statement)
thx eru. problem was that my cpu acts kind of weird...up to 225 it dont need any xtra vcore, but above that it needs plenty....running 1,61 (should have been 1,65 but nvm) @245FSB isnt very good.....tried new bios and it is not RAM that is holding it back....it only gets about 40c on load, but i am only using a xp120 and a revoltec 120mm on it, so i am worried about giving more vcore......hoped that something about startup VID was slowing it down....

I snooped a bit around some other forums 2 look 4 a solution to this.
But anyways, any of you know exactly what it is.
So far the solution I've come to is to disable 1 of the sata raid setups.
I have on controller 1 & 2 2 x sataII 250gb @ raid 0 and on controller 3 & 4 2 x sataI 160gb. And sometimes when i cooldboot the bluescreen kind'a just wrecks da day. The error not always been there, have had both raid setup's going for 4-5 weks now. but it's more often now. don't matter if board+cpu oc'ed or not. still same thing some days.
can any1 help.
How far do you think 4 512 sticks of OCZ Plat Rev 2 would overclock to...?
approx 333mhz(166FSB) or 400mhz(200FSB) depending on mobo and cpu....and only in 2T...4 sticks and oc just isnt an option with those cpus yet......
What's the whole Vdimm bug where Vdimm is applied prior to the system being on.
I unplugged my Seasonic 600W and then back in. Vdimm was 2.5 already even though system wasn't on. Turned it on and it goes to 3.3v as my VX needs...
Hi
I have a SLI-DR, can anyone tell me if the four sata slots of Silicon Image Raid controller are fixed so that is it possible to overclock without troubles at any fsb? is silicon image controller better than built in nforce4 nVidia one?
Having issues:
Was strugling with some random reboots from the warm summer weather so I decided to turn off my computer. Well I turn it back on and it hangs on lights. I figure, oh cold boot, ohh so evil. So I flip the clear Cmos jumper and sit back and watch Seinfeld for awhile (~45 min)
Went back to my CPU, put the jumper back, boots to DFI NF4 Splash Screen and hangs, wont go to bios and wont go anywhere. So I try again, pull the battery this time, same thing. Safe boot, same thing. Flip the switch a couple times with jumper in position, hang on splash.
Any ideas to try? please give your advice!
Wasnt sure what to search on for this problem, so here it is
Last night i tried out my 2x256mb bh6 just out of interest. This morning i put my gig of tccd back in. Now if i use cas 2.5, I get the first POST screen showing mem timings/hdds/bios date etc, but it stops after that. There's meant to be the second bios screen that shows IRQ allocations etc, but i dont get that. Trying to enter bios also gets the same result.
If i take out one stick, it works fine. Put the other stick in by itself, also fine.
Have tried 510-2FIX, 510-3FIX and 623-3, all getting the same result.
This is all at stock 200HTT btw
@SDX:
Had the same problem with system in sig and TwinMOS SP new bh-5.
What I did to solve it:
Jumperblock 4V back to 3.3V
Clear CMOS once again
Fired up the system and booted nice into bios again
without changing anything else I put the vcore settings to fixed values (no auto)
Save bios
reboot
put memory on 3.2V
switch off
4V jumperblock back to 4V
switch on
everything fine again
could go to the usual settings as before (I stayed on the safe side this time)
Hope this will work for U 2...
I have had a hard time choosing between the A8N Sli Prem and the DFI nF4 SLI-DR... But it has been settled now.. Anyway I am getting the DFI, a A64 Venice 3500+, 2x512mb Corsair PC3200* (some standard paried up Dual-Channel kit, it is NOT Value S.) and most probably the XP-90 with a decent fan to handle the cooling.
But before I order and build my new rig I have a few questions for ya all..
Would I be able to use the XP-120 instead of the Xp-90 and still be able to use the Orange DIMMs when the m/b is normally mounted (not inverted atx)?
As far as I know the mem is TCCD, so is there a good modded bios for the Corsair mem using TCCD and a Venice?
Instead of creating a new thread I thought I might aswell ask here.... :)
any help appreciated
*means this memory:
Corsair XMS 1024MB (2x512) PC3200 400MHz TWINX1024-3200C2 (2-3-3-6).
bios 704-2BT works very nice for all kinds of ram...
Instead of XP120, I'd consider the Big Typhoon, best aircooler atm and no problem for orange slots...
Checked out the Big Typhoon now and it does seems nice... Big and very good cooling according to reviews.Quote:

Thanks for the tip and if I can clear out that little question I think I now excactly what to get... :)
Edit: been reading about the Big Typhoon a little more now... Both on DFI-street and here, think I am gonna get the XP-90c instead, don't feel like lapping the Big Typhoon, fix the backplate on the DFI/replace it. Thanks for the tip anyway.
A good friend of mine: JaDa@hardwareonline.be has the big typhoon mounted on a DFI nF4 SLI-DR... No problems whatsoever, you can always mail him if you have more questions...
battery out overnight worked!
yay
Need help, i think my Board is dying :(
a week ago i could run 2600 Mhz @ stock volts, 2770 @ 1,56 on my venice 3200+. Most of the time i ran 2770 with 180 div (~251 Mhz). Rams are Mushkin 3500 bh5. They should run at least 250 with 3,3v had them around 255 stable. But a few days ago a got a BSOD nearly every day sometimes a few of them a day. So i flashed Bios to 510 by Merlin. Problems stayed. So i flashed 704-2 BT Bios. Probls doesn' vanish so i examind the problem. Tried 230x10 with cpu @1,56v and Ram @3,2v => errors in memtest instantly :( i used the same 164 Tweaker settings which ran 250mhz stable a few days ago. So whats going on here ? want my overclock back :( Hope u guys can help me out. If u want to know details of my system just ask ;)
Are the memtest errors random or are they around a specific allocation?
Don't think tey are random, e.g. 230x10 Mhz and 3,2V (they must work at these settings) pass 3 or 4 of test #5 8 errors. Other example 250x10 3,3V (again they worked before) over 200 Errors first pass and even more after 2nd pass and so on. So wtf is going on here ?
you have active cooling im assuming?
Yes 120mm Fan above Rams. Changed nothing and that's curious
Try increasing Trfc if the errors occur near the end of test #5.
If that doesn't work, try the sticks separately...
Nothing changed on the lines of your PSU? Especially 3.3 and 5V ???
No no changes, PSU is OCZ Powerstream 600 W, lines stable as a rock :)
I think my DFI's CMOS Reloaded is borked. None of the fields can be renamed:
I can still type what I want to the fields but the text just don't appear there after pressing enter in the 3rd row.
The strange thing is that the last row from the 1st slot's description (excluding the 1st letter) apppears to the 1st row of the 4th slot IF I save settings to the 4th slot. :D
I've tried reflashing and clear CMOS - no effect.
btw. Where is the CMOS Reloaded stored? If I use another bios chip, the settings that were saved while the other chip was seated, are still there.
The CMOS Reloaded is stored into the main memory...Quote:

Normal working procedure:
Bios is loaded into memory upon boot
Changing bios setting happens in memory (different area than old settings)
pressing F10 saves them onto the bios chip
That's the reason why after pressing F10 you need a reboot,
so settings on bioschip are identical to those in memory.
Hope the explanation is a bit clear...
Hey largon, I had the same problem and I thought it was done. But how you fix it is load optimized defaults and then go and save over everything. Save to each bank then overwrite each description with nothing. Then reboot and try to save. I emailed DFI about this and they said that its stored somewhere on the mobo and the only way to fix it is to do it this way. So I tried it and it worked. So give it a try... I bet it works LOLQuote:

The "01MHz / 1.6 vCore" is only visible for a fraction of a second, I had to shoot 25 pics to capture it. Normally this row reads
"┌──────Description──────┐"
"01MHz / 1.6 vCore" should be 1 row lower and read "2601MHz / 1.6 vCore"
"3-2-7 2.5 vDimm" should be 2 rows lower and read "2-3-2-7 2.5 vDimm"
Ok, so you cleared your cmos, loaded optimized defaults, saved to every bank and then saved a blank description on each bank?Quote:

So make sure you do a good cmos clear. Pull the battery then set the jumper to clear for like 10 min at least then put the jumper back to normal and put the battery back in. This has saved me many times. Then when you are done with this do the above save optimized defaults to every bank.
silicon AND nvidia controller both works fine also when OCing....nvidis also have sata300 (sata 2) support, which the silicon doesnt have....Quote:

"CPU Detected" according to the manual, which would mean the memory is bad..? I try the memory in another computer and it's fine. Put it back in after clearing cmos repeatedly and still 3 lights. I try putting in my 3500+ winchester and I get one light this time... "System boot-up". Not sure what that one means. Clear again, still nothing.
I'm using the bigtoe modded 704 bios, 2.8v on ram, and not particularly high clocks (i was memtesting).
Any Ideas? I'm hosting a LAN here tomorrow and it's gonna suck if I cant get this rig running.
Are you getting bios beeps? If so try this--Just put 1 stick in the second orange slot! That will fix it (I think). I have had this problem several time. If you are able to boot with the 1 stick then set all your settings then save. After it posts shut it down and put the other stick in. If you are using a new bios and have stuff saved in the cmos reloaded then load optimized defaults and save over each bank in the cmos reloaded. NEVER use settings from another bios on your new one cuz it will cause problems for you.. Hope this helps!Quote:

So I'm going to give the 623-3 another go...
You guys can get it to work if you try the second orange slot.
I tried using the second orange slot but that didnt seem to work. The system was able to boot using the 3500+ just fine. I had the 4400+ running before... could it possibly be dead now? Or would it be a bios setting?
It still wont POST even with one stick in slot 2. It looks like the 4400+'s memory controller is toast... =(
Its prolly a stupid question but did you pull the battery out and set the jumper to clear and leave it for awhile. Then try to boot with the ram in the second orange slot. Did you try the X2 in another computer? Also do you have a second set of ram to try in the DFI.Quote:

You never said--are you getting bios beeps?
I just enabled the buzzer jumper, and it isnt making any sounds as far as I can tell.Quote:

Yeah just let it clear for awhile. Try all your ram just to rule out anything else. Are you using the 3500 or the 4400? I would just clear the bios for at least an hour or so then try the 4400 and your 1 stick in the second orange slot. If it still doesnt work try different sticks of ram. Now if that still doesnt work put the 3500 in and see if you can get it to post.Quote:

The cmos is still clearing... x.x
OK question the settings you have saved in the cmos reloaded are they from another bios? If they are you need to load optimized defaults and save over each bank. Then reboot and reset all your settings and save them again. You should never mix and match settings with different bios's. This came straight from DFI. I dont think you killed your X2 its just that they are really picky with these TCCD!Quote:

OK one more question--- the bios you are using is it the 704 or 704-2BT? If you were using the 704 and the special 123% you could have killed your chip!Quote:

be careful with thos 704 bios ffs..somehow the vcore calc. is messed up......saw someone fried a venice because of it......
above VID 123% and more CAN make the bios just fire all avalieble volts on the CPU....and then you should be able to smell the cpu...............

hi, i have sli-dr
i just buyed it, and i cant to post
only 4 red leds burning, all other parts are fine (tested)
what sould i do? :stick:
or just RMA it?
Hi, just a tip for everyone having any stability problems, try uninstalling all nvidia drivers + the network access manager then install v6.53 but do not install the network access manager, also try using the marvell lan port instead since I find that I have less problems that way. As for the firewall u'll have to use something else (i.e. zonealarm) for now since the nvidia hardware firewall seems unstable for now..
guys i need your help.
well if u guys have looked at my old thread .. basically my system was running all fine and dandy lol .. when i switched from 2x512mb of gskill le's to 2x1gb crucial ballistix .. all i did was swap them in .. just changed the timing to 3-3-3-8 .. the voltage was at 2.9 .. no problems .. system ran great for 2-3 weeks .. then my system crashed .. always has happened from time to time with windows for some reason .. so as my system reboots .. i boot into the bios .. 6-23 is what i was running .. after seeing how most people are running their crucial ballistix at 2.6-2.7 .. i decided to lower mine to 2.7 ... after that ..havent successfully booted at all ...
sometimes it will post so i can go into the bios .. i load optimized defaults .. reboot .. and then all the leds pass except for the last one which is what it should be .. but i get no video .. just hangs .. then if i power down and power back on .. it will have 3 leds lit up .. which is memory and will give a long beep .. over and over ..
another time i had it boot up and hang at 2 leds .. which is video .. i have reseated the video card .. etc .. i know the video card should be ok ..
originally i thought my motherboard bit the dust .. so i got another sli-dr board .. just to check .. same problem .. when i first connected everything up ..it booted right to the bios .. i loaded optimized defaults and BAM .. same thing .. i rebooted and the monitor just goes black .. u know what i mean .. like when u shut the pc off but leave the monitor on .. then if i power down .. and try to repower back on .. 3 leds with that long beep over and over .. it really sucks and is driving me mad .. im having pc withdrawal ... i dont have any other memory to swap in ..
Similar as what i faced...
Try set to cl2 see can it go?
i hv these problem after i change ram from tccd to hynix, then hynix -> tccd...
and after all, it face same problem as xtremebandwidth>OCZ 3200EL Rev2 CL2.5 not go?

Is it as close as possible against the IDE connectors with the top 4 holes left open?
There is only one way, otherwise it doesn't "click" in :)
Thanks, nice 'n foolproof.
Even i could do it. :)
problems. just installed 3000+ on dfi ut nf4 and posts fine with 2 gigs. crucial (2x1gb)/ loaded windows fine on 4 300gb maxtor 10 raid 0. flashed bios winflash using official dfi bios latest one (1st one on the top of the page) reboots fine. post fine. swapped to the x2 3800+ and no post. cleared cmos. held insert key. no post. using yellow dimms. swapped ram to 1 512 stick. no post...... swapped back to 3000+ and post fine. something is wrong here. i have ocz 520w powerstream and a 6600gt. any clues? Is this power related? or bios problem? or cpu? I am out of ideas. oh. the 4 leds on board stay on for 30 seconds and then it drops to 1 led and then beeps 1 long but no post. there are no bent pins

Hello,
I have a stange problem, since few days my pc has been acting weird, not stable, reboots, bsods, mostly I could solve it by using other memory, single channel, bh-5 dual channel. But now it crashes in windows, just with the start up sound, and it hangs there, so I turn off power.

-Samsung 512mb pc2700 TCB3
I have used bios 510, 623 and 702 but its not helping me.
I have same problem with all the memory, at first it would work with the bh-5 or the samsung, couldnt go higher than 210mhz 2-2-2-5 with the bh-5 (not good at all, but it was stable).
They all pass memtest86. So theres no problem with the memory itself of the ram timings. (I think)

Hi All,
I hope someone can help me, not sure what info you require, but here goes.
Basically I bought a DFI lan party nf4 ut Ultra mobo with an amd64 3000+ chip. Installed and all worked ok until I installed any antivirus. It works but when I shutdown it bluescreens and restarts. If I don't have the antivirus it works fine.
I have the firewall and active armour running, the bios is set to stock standard. I have tried with the firewall etc uninstalled and the antivirus and zonealarm running. Same deal with the bluescreens and shutdown. I am using the nvidia Lan port and not the marvel at the moment.
I've read through various posts and tried different things with regards to the firewall and still no joy.
Any advice and help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
ya this board has some problems
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am at wits end with this board...
Can ANYONE tell me why and how to get my gig of VX4000 to
run together...I can only run one 512 stick...Both sticks memtest
at 250 cas 2.0-2-2-5....
I have tried just about every bios (now im on 7/042BTA
the only slot i can get ONE stick tp work in is Orange one
farthest from the CPU
Specs as follows...
nF4 Ultra-D
3700+ sandy
2x512 OCZ PC4000 VX Gold Edition 2-3-3-8
Antec neo power 480
X850 XT-PE
TT Tower112 @ stock voltage 29c idle 38c load
Try the 510 and 623 series BIOS. 510 works best for me now sure which revision of it is best for your memory but the orange slots are the best to use for overclocking. Give it a try man. Be patient with it...it takes some time...it took me awhile to find the right BIOS believe me I was sick of screwing with it too...I can't tell you how many times I yelled and screwed and sat on default clocks for awhile LoL.
Hello guys, I just bought this board yesterday with a BFG 7800 gt oc, and I've been having problems, my complete setup is:
DFI NF4 UT SLI-D
X2 4400+ [Stock speeds on everything except video obviously]
2x512 OCZ EL Gold PC4400 [2.5-4-4-8-2t]
WD Raptor, Maxtor sata, Maxtor ide
PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 510 Deluxe
BIOS: N4D623-3
the only problem so far is I've been getting "machine_check_exception" BSOD's every now and then, I read somewhere to keep the NB fan on at all times so I set it to full > 25c and now I just also set the nb volt to 1.7V
I haven't been able to find many things about this particular error with this board but I would be greatful if you guys can help, thanks.
You shouldn't have to change the Chipset voltage at all...I have never changed mine with any clocks and I have had no problems. And it might be the BIOS you are using...test others...I had a lot of trouble just trying to find a BIOS that would allow me to even get stock stable or even an overclock.Quote:

Yeah I posted it on the DFI Forums over there LoL...
I have OCZ Gold Series RAM (look in Sig) and I haven't recieved my processor yet, so I was wondering if there will be any problems with it in my SLI-DR?
I have a horrible problem with my new SLI-DR. Unlike most of you my board has no problems at all posting but when I try to use the Boot From CD method to get my O/S to install the board just shuts down. It doesn't restart, it just shuts down. The thing is very confusing to me because it doesn't seem like theres anything wrong. On The Debug area, the light all the way to the left stays red until it reaches the point of booting of a CD, then it shuts off.
I have a bug where the pci devices are not detected and only the nForce LAN is detected.
Anyone experienced this at all?
I had been running various oc's for months prior to this happening.
I had the strangest problem, I think my GSkills are damaged btw. Anyway, I couldn“t boot stable at default settings, with every BIOS I tested. Not even with single channel, I can get into windows at default. I tested it, boot with single channel change ONLY the htt to like 225 or something. Shut the comp down, put in the other ram, BAM it works. But not good at all. Anyone else experienced this?? Just curious
I am having problems which I do not know what is causing it... I think I may have a defected motherboard. From time to time when I boot and load into windows it will tell me one of my video cards has been removed from my SLI...and other times when I go to check it it will say Video Cards need to be of a 4x Bandwidth speed or greater before enabling SLI. Now my problem right now is that I am having freezing issues and BSOD when installing any video drivers at all. I just did a clean install of Windows XP and went to install v78.01 and BSOD...after the reboot I got BSOD when it tried to load to desktop. I was running fine for awhile and I cannot seem to figure this out. Any help would be appreciated. Also I did go back to stock clocks on everything as well an went back to Air-Cooling.
EDIT: Installed new Beta BIOS by BigToe 710-BTA no BSOD but I will continue to test on and see if it tells me one of my video cards has been removed. I have heard that some people were having problems with the PCI-e slots...the Top one mainly but its the bottom one I am having an issue with.
EDIT...AGAIN: Well After all of that the second video card will not start..says no resources left for it...WTF! Maybe I got a bad install of XP...It was giving me Memory errors might have not installed right...FORMAT again and will retry.
when is the pci/pci-e locked ? @ 100/101/105?

any idea what is the problem here
Does anyone know what "DRAM response time" setting in bios does and if it has any impact on performance?
I can't get windows to load when i set this setting to "fastest" , "fast" seems fine but i wonder if "normal" gives more stability.
Anyone?
I think the DDR have more performance at Fast and fastest...anywise for OC many say it' s better use normal for stability... But good ask and i have not the response for what it do exactly...
Dram response time changes the Max Async Latency.
Ok I am having a really weird issue and it is only when I am using one video card. The 6800GT OC is installed into the top PCIe slot and when I run a JAVA Application like Azureus I will get a weird Screen flash where everything looks overlayed in 640x480 mode or I will have serious system hangs with PC Speaker Beeps. What could be causing this...also a program like LimeWire also for example will make my PC hang and lock up completely. Why does my PC hate JAVA?
Now when I was running Dual 6800GT OC I did not have this problem. I am going to try the bottom PCIe slot when I get home and switch the jumpers and test it then. I can not seem to find anything on this issue. I am thinking I have a defective motherboard. And with any BIOS it does this as well.
Don't know if this is the right spot. But anyhoo.
If you look under the memory tab in cpu-z starting with frequency and stops with dram idle timer. What are does values translated into the bios of the dfi nf4. Which is which.
confused newbie.
Would like to learn more about this. :p: - more mhz thingy

I just got my DFI UT SLI-DR .. has anyone had any usb issues.. mine seems a lil flaky sometimes i have to unplug and plug back in for the usb device.. everything from printer to mouse. I dont use anything ps2 ..although i was forced to during setup and installation of windows.
Ive tried the jumpers on the mobo and problem remains.. I had nothing like this with my Abit AN8-SLI .. i would like to keep this board as its a great overclocker.. but its a pain unplugging the usb devices because of the case location.
Update your BIOS...there was USB issues in some of the older BIOS.

The one by bigtoe has been the best BIOS for overclocking...now are you willing to use a BETA BIOS or do you want a official BIOS?
Is official just get the newest one from DFI's website.
For BETA BIOS get bigtoes 702-2BTA BIOS.
I dare don't post this over at the DFI forums but has anyone lost their cpu and harddrive due while running a DFI ultra/SLI board?
I ask this because I finished putting together my new system in sig over last weekend. All was great and running smoothly with my Opty running at 10x300 without a hiccup. I decided to prime it and after 45min or so the system completely shut down and never to booted again. I was monitoring my temps and never reached 40c with 1.52v going thur my Opty. The board powered up a few times but never posted. Cleared CMOS pulled battery and still no boot. After around the 10th time the board refused to power.
So I RMA my DFI Ultra and get another in today. Reinstalled everything, board powered up but won't post as the 4 red lights show during debug. I pull out my Opty and install 3700+ and board now post but stuck on DFI post screen. Disconnected all drives and board finally post and able to get into bios. Set up bios and then shutdown. Plugged in WD Raptor and board refuses to recognize the drive. Yes SATA is enabled.
So end of story tried the drive in my friends MSI Neo and also does not recognize drive. I have a new OCZ 520SLI and my voltages during the crash were around as follows.
+3.3=3.32v
+5= 5.11v
+12= +12.41v
Would like to know if the 12v line caused this or the mobo. I've RMA'd the board and can do the same for the Raptor but I loose my 3gig Opty as I removed the IHS. :(
Hello Friends,
First that everything thank you to read this topic.
The reason for the which I write it is because for a time my DFI doesn't want to accept 2 x 512 MB of OCZ Rev2.
When I put one alone, the system works perfect but when I add the second module the system non boot and 2 LEDS always lights.
I have attempted in the yellow and oranges slots but the result is the same one.
This is the configuration:
- AMD 3700+ SD (Stock)
- DFI Ultra-D (6.23-3)
- OCZ Plt Rev2 (512mb x 2)
- MSI 6600GT
- Fortron BlueStorm (AX500-A)
Please help me to solve this problem.
Thank you for all the collaboration that you can offer me.
Until soon.
I just got and installed the SLI-D today, the UT version... I guess that's only UT? Anyways, there's no serial connector on the back of the mobo, but I see the manual says "1 connector for 1 external serial port" something-a-rather.... but I have no cable for this, or see where such a cable would hook onto the mobo.. Does anyone know what I can do? My digital bay LIS POP uses serial... I guess I might be SOL.. but thought I would ask.
Hi .
last 2 days i found this bug , but not the fix yet.
When i use the 5v jumper [with 24pin psu enermax 600 , is ok all rails] my mobo dont give vdimm higher than 3.25 . and when boots sets 2.54vdimm :O and after 2-3 seconds reboots again and gives 3.25 [from 3.4 i set ]
ill try clrcmos , several bioses , nothing . The mobo is stuck at 3.25 when i use the 5v jumper . with 3.3 jumper all works fine 3.1 i set 3.1 gives , 2.9 set 2.9 gives ect ect ect/.
What the h*ll is going here?
ps. dfi nf4 ultra D
ps2 Cpu vcore is adjusted manualy
no-one ?
Here is the setup:
DFI nf4 ultra-D
opteron 144 cab2e stock hsf (for now)
2x512MB geil golden dragon pc-4000 2.5-4-4-7 @ddr500
x700 pro 256MB
Powersupply is ThermalTake Silent Purepower W0009R 420W PS
(20-pin)
problem: i am having bad stability issues
seems to lockup randomly within winxp pro sp2
was locking up before installation of winxp, getting it to get through the installation without freezing was a trying process
im PRETTY SURE that ive got the dram settings in BIOS configured correctly
oddly i cant get the ram to run at CAS 3.0 only 2.5
i have updated to the newest bios 623-3
ive tried tweaking the RAM numerous ways and although it seems a little more stable
it does still crash when on stock/loose settings just as often as anything else
oh yeah, i have run super pi 1M at just under 3.0ghz numerous times
it does seem to lock up more when im browsing multiple windows of multi-tabbed firefox, but perhaps thats just because its how i use my computer most often
my thoughts:
1)possibly power supply, ive just noticed that it says 18A on the +12v
is this too low?
ive already ordered an OCZ ModStream ATX 2.01 520W Power Supply
thinking the PSU was the likely culprit
2)memory incompatibility
any thoughts suggestions?
Hello, you must set the vcore to anything other than "AUTO", then save & exit. After the reboot all volts above 3.2 will be available. I know thats not the most logical thing, but thats the deal.Quote:

EDIT: I now see it says on bottom of your post that you adjusted manually, sorry. I have used the same board with the 5v rail with CH-5's and BH-5's, and all 6-23 and 704-2bta BIOS, with never a problem. You should contact DFI's tech support or visit DFI-Street.com
I'm sorry if this was said already (huge thread), but this make it sound like JP17 will stableize any voltage. When its actually harmful to use the 5v rail for under 3.3v. It forces the regulator to covert it back down and causes alot of heat and stress. I'm sure you know this, but for a newb reading that, maybe it could be more clear? Thanks.Quote:
