Yep, definitely time to replace these three GTX 480s.

Urban dont you think best bet is just 2 Titans ? Tri Sli doesnt seem to work most of the time and its always been that way.
Cheer up man
http://us.ncix.com/search/?categoryid=0&q=titan
You have two to pick from......but they will come in 1st week of march
So you might go sane by then
It really depends on what games/benchmarks that you run. There are certain instances in which 3-Way SLI scales very well, and others in which it does not. Just check the reviews for your games/benchmarks to see what you can expect.
Hm, having to wait that long, plus the changing price is starting to sway me toward picking up three GTX 670 2GB instead. Cheaper price, no wait time, and it's good enough for now.
Sorry, Titan; maybe if you had better availability.
I went down to the Porsche dealer but they were all out, so rather than wait a couple weeks I'll just buy a Ford Focus. Seems reasonable. :p

Hm, I wonder what happens when we add a third card?
@#$% it, I'll just wait for Titan. What the @#$% is my problem?
My deal is that I'm still running an x58 mobo with PCIe 2.0. I'm wondering just how much performance I'll be missing out on by sticking with my i7 920 @ 4Ghz on PCIe 2.0 x8 vs. an i7 3770K+ on PCIe 3.0 x8 @ 6030 x 1200 resolution.
Probably this?

Sorry I was just going off your sig again, your sig says Crysis 3. My 5970s have no issues with Crysis 2 at 2560x1600. Different story in Crysis 3.
You seem like you get angry easy so I won't bother you anymore. Going to watch Spartacus and go to sleep, best of luck with the Titan/670 situation. I managed to grab one today, still on the hunt for a second.
wait for the titan. i think you will not regret it.
Still on for a Q2 launch for 7XX?

Drivers could use some work in some titles.
@Zir Blazer ... Pentium 4??? Eww no, back then Athlon 4400+ or opteron 185 were much better for gaming.
You also need to remember Titan is being released as a gaming GPU, so its more comparable to non server CPUs. Otherwise you should be looking at teslas and fire GLs which cost several thousands for an equal comparison.
@Urbansmooth, you're not going to notice any difference between PCIE 2.0 and 3.0. The difference between X58 and X79 for gaming is minuscule, the only thing that's really worth the upgrade is Sata III if you need that. I'll be raiding a pair of M4s on Sata II soon, not really worth throwing out my mobo and CPU at all.
I'll stick to a single 680 and skip this gen and SLI now.
i agree i think they will do more money then they expect from this titan. i don't have marketing experience just write about which fits me. in this situation i think if they release 7xx series with titan leading them it will sure impress me more so becuase if this i said if 7xx series launch is as close as q2 i would prefer to release titan with them.
NVIDIA could also make more money by allowing a 690 and a 680 to work in tri SLI lol ... I can dream :(
I get mad too sometimes.
More calm these days, just getting older. I have two of these already pre-ordered - I am also putting them on a 4.0Ghz 980x 2.0 PCI Express setup so we will see.
Anyway, I hope you see this:
Pre-Order right now from AMAZON.COM - http://www.amazon.com/GeForce-384-bi...=ATVPDKIKX0DER
You're welcome friend.
:)
Hope you get the three you want!!
In what is that related to what I posted? Not even close. Besides, A64X2s/Opterons 185 are Dual Core and they started to appear no less one year and half later than Gallatin P4EE (That was released as Intel response to the original Athlon 64 FX-51 near the end of 2003). Check release dates.
He might have wanted to say FX57, that was the P4 killer chip...till the Dothans with 479 to 478 adapters came out, and then some aopen boards with support for those mobile chips. Those were all the rage back then.
here in Germany, will be available in 5 days. One ordered :)
Where can I sign up for the free TITANS?

Worth a try regardless. Two 660 Ti's would still be better than my two 550 Ti
Maybe its and extra $500 because of how much more awesome it looks? :p
There's gonna be some dunce out there that still buys such a card and installs and tries to use it without a cooler on.
I'm actually very impressed with my reference GTX 680 cooler, the only bad thing is the boost thermal throttles.
I see a lot of Titans on eBay for pre-order round the $1400 mark lol
-PB
.... It might have been a good idea to have ordered a few of these as soon as they were available just to resell them on eBay for a higher price lol. There are no where near enough of the cards out to meet the demand.
..... Dammit, im getting evil thoughts of putting up pictures of the card for sale with a full description for the roffles. I wouldn't do that, but it would be too funny to see if people actually bought them. Someone else do it :D
Reminds me of the Judge Judy eBay episode.
The SLI results were quite disappointing, just an average of a 20% increase compared to GTX 680 in SLI.

IDK if these were posted or not....
They were, newegg had stock for around 10 minutes or so.
Evga.com had stock for something like 6 minutes.
arghhh....people should restraint from buying this card altogether, so that Nvidia lower their ridiculous price >_>. Btw once it hits summer this GTX Titan will crawl on its knees anyway (unless you have the AC on 24/7), I would definitely buy it were it fitted with custom water cooled kit at its asking price.
Think if you're spending $1000 on a single card, H20 would be the logical option.

My answer to Titan and nVidia cracked prices ?
An HD7970's buy :p:
However, dual GPU performance doesn't always seem like single GPU performance:
http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphic...formance-Tools
Articles like thois make me wonder if someone seeking a lower cost Titan alternative would be better off using a watercooled OCd 7970 or 680.
Yes dual is never the same with single. Hey Rollo can your group focus on Titan's price drop?
I dont think I'll be going back to using dual cards anyway. A single 680 is running all the games I play and a lot of them (MMOs) dont support SLI / Xfire.
This will be the first time in 9 generations that I wont upgrade my GPUs, think I'll go ahead and keep this 680 for the rest of its warranty. All I'll be playing atm is Civ V, Path of Exile, DDO and SimCity in a couple of weeks.
People are such suckers...Quote:

whats i remember from test made by LAB501.ro, SLI of GTX 680 was limited till Core i7-3960X was not oced to 5 GHz + and Titan is more powerfull and cpu power hungry then GTX 680. Then i think for real unlimited performance SLI (2x cards) is sufficient CPU at 5 GHz + (5,5 GHz maybe)
For Tr-SLI you need 2x CPU on EVGA dual socket board at 5 GHz i think ....
you need to run 2560+ and sgssa benchmarks to see a real benifit from these cards...usual full HD is CPU-limited very very often...
here are some good ones where sli / 3way look pretty impressive.
Nah there's plenty of recent FPS games out that won't even run at 40 FPS @ 1080p with maxed settings, and 120 hz monitors also benefit from much higher FPS at 1080p.
And you've got to wonder: how much more beating are they going to accept? If nvidia's next card is going to be priced at 1500 are thhey going too get it? What about 2000 hell even 5000? I mean Tesla guys already pay that much, why not gamers? Hell, now that we're at it why not 20000, after all there is few other vendors other than nvidia who can supply you with the stuff named gpu....
...it's depressing really. It was cheap electronics that ushered the era of extreme efficiency called the "information age" (or whatever). If nvidia/Intel/amd decide to keep us in technological dark ages they can and that's depressing to know...
Omg finally someone that understands a little bit about benching these cards... :)
We need 3dvision benchs too...
Oui I wish ivy-ep or whatever it was called would come out sooner then the 3rd or 4th quarter...
That and this titan is a bit higher priced then I wish it was.
I'm currently using all 6 cpu cores in software rendering scenarios, and even in hardware mode it's still mem bandwith limited at 2000mhz with all 6 being used (though a 4c8t cpu would do the trick).
I'm so tempted to pick up a 3770k but there would be times that it wouldn't cut it, but most of the time I could see it being 33-50% faster as long as ht is turned on.
Definitely seeing some cpu and mem bandwidth limits on my system with the 680, checked it out a little last night.
The mem latency is actually the biggest limit I'm running into at the moment.
I just hope this titan thing comes out fast enough, I'm kinda sick of waiting for something that's gonna cost so much lol, I can imagine the lightning might cost $1200.
The only sane reason to buy this card : to make world records in benching and that's about it.
Id have bought it coz it would look nice ... Inside my windowless case :x
But only if it was half the price.
Come on AMD lets see a GIANT chip who cares if it has 2 x 8 pin and runs hot, make a BEEEEEG chip let it cost 650$ and be 20% faster than 7970. Man nvidia dont even have a lead or anything this generation but they have apple like market status its got to be said.
Till I saw titan reviews I was under the assumption that 680 and 7970 are neck and neck ( well they are kinda but also maybe you can see that 7970 NEEDS better drivers and there are many cases of good ATI drivers letting the 7970 wipe the floor with the 680,some reviews I have read claim 680 experience smoother though outright numbers lower than 7970).
Maybe come November this year the last Titans will be sold at 900$~ and then Titan will stop altogether ? make way for 3gb 95% as fast as titan (but clocks real nice lightning editions holding 1400 on air easy like lots of current 680 Lt's hitting 1300 on air)
So 780 3gb will cost 700 on release if they get it out the gate ahead of 89xx.(Dont think nvidia will wait on ATI if they can get it out first, dunno if 6xx series sales still very strong maybe they wait?)
AMDs reply is to release a dual chip 7990 from more AIBs, but there's that article which shows that crossfire it still full of microstutter, and even with higher FPS some games aren't any smoother than a single card.
Epic win in South Africa, they're selling for less than 690s :D
Oh, and a hefty 40 % cheaper than the ARES II :/
I said sane reason... people on here aren't sane, they are XTREME! :DQuote:

Nice price drop today in EU :)
http://i48.tinypic.com/m82r5w.jpg
Edit: http://i48.tinypic.com/m82r5w.jpg
Yes, about US $1400 with a straight conversion, but we pay customs, VAT (at 14 %), shipping... Then unlike the way I understand it to work in the USA where large retailers buy from the manufacturers directly, our retail channels have another one or two loops to them - distributors and/or suppliers - and they each add on a cut.
true but still if u know they come from 950€, though they are still off bye about 100€ to be compared to the US price ;).
Tax's suck here, thank god for Germany!
Edit: P.S. 870€ is 1145 US$ ;)
That's just one german shop though. The other ones sell it for 940€+.
I have no experience with that specific seller but it took me time to find one german shop I really trust ;)
Anyway, it's already ordered for me at the big 1K price but locally (and free shipping) with the possibility to return the product easily in case of of problems.
Let us know how it goes if you order from them. Might be good to know for the future.
$1179 AUD here in Oz for the EVGA SC;

well the 5+ grand that i was going to waste on 4x titans and proper custom waterblocks.. today ive invested it in my friends corporation and who knows in a couple of years may be worth a few million bucks.. take that nvidia! lol youre not the only one who knows how to do business :D
I spent it on a snowmobile :D
Lol, prices have gone UP in the UK, from 830 to 860 :x
Grabbed my second titan. An evga stock clocked tomorrow and a sc on thursday, also weather finally improving around here, good week!
Will a titan be bottlenecked with an "old" i7 860?
Dude, seriously, if these were actually in stock and not limited to '1 item per purchase', I would have licked three up instead of going with GTX 670s in 3-Way SLI (cost less for three GTX 670s than for one GTX Titan). It's too bad, really. I really wanted three GTX Titans in 3-Way SLI, but, I'll settle for 70% to 75% of the performance for 66% cheaper. Early to mid next year, we'll have a $500 card that's at or VERY near Titan's performance, anyway. These three GTX 670s should hold me over until the GTX 800 series, at least. That is all, sirs! GOOD DAY!!
Early to mid next year, so 10-16 months? Pretty sure you're right. But I personally had the itch and wasn't willing to wait that long.
They've been in stock multiple times at newegg/evga.com, I was surprised, they were easier to get than I thought.
meh no back plate edition? this thing needs a backplate stat
edit oh wait there we go http://www.evga.com/articles/00729/i...kplate_LRG.jpg
This is too funny... You have been raving about 3 titans from the start of this thread, showing big muscles and such, and then you come up with this budget built with 3x GTX 670s ? Not even 680s ? There are at least two 680s for sale in my local second hand forum right now for about $380-400...
ps: I don't judge you or anything. I just ordered a second MSI twin frozr III GTX 680 brand new. Titan is officially a NO GO for me too. Nvidia dropped the ball with this one according to me. The price they ask is just unrealistic... Will report back in a few days when it comes. Really excited about it. This is going to be the first time I try SLI. :)
I was told my two ASUS Titans would ship tomorrow.
Only thing is they are not factory overclocked, and will come with base clocks only.
Are they binned? So only the good OC chips go in the EVGA superclocked versions and ASUS gets junk
or are they all capable of 876/928 on the stock cooler? Should I be able to plug them in and set clocks to 876/928? Then get just as good a result on water?
Considering the close ties between Pegatron and ASUS (Pegatron being the NVIDIA partner making all GTX Titans) I'd be very surprised if ASUS only got "junk". I don't know of a card that won't get close to or past 1 GHz core speed, so I see no problem with you setting only 867 MHz core speed.
