it's about 2.5" i think from memory. I had to borrow the circular pieces.
Your best to use a battery drill not power drill. The power drill is way to fast and will cause a ripping effect not a cut.
I will try that o/c tonight...makes sense. I have it at 333x9 atm making it 3.0Ghz. I tried 400x9 but it didn't work, that would have been nice to make it 3.6Ghz.
I'm not to firmiliar with o/c on CPU's in terms of Volts. I have it at 1.325 V stock. I think 1.350V will be easy to use. It might allow the 3.6 i was actually after. 3.2Ghz is a good o/c though. Cheers
I terms of temps, at full load i get 45 max on core 0 and 40 max on core 1.
OCing with stickers is the best! However, I don't think I would put them on anyways... they usually are a little :banana::banana::banana::banana: to take off. I guess is just nice to have the option to show pass byers what you got in the box at a glance, lol.
Hey, if i understood... you would like to try sth like this:
> Link <
Those are two of my mods :)
Thank you and Deees for helping me with bigboy. i'll try again later
That was a nice mod there :)
Yeah, something like that... but I'm not exactly. I'm thinking of keeping the front metal grills from the case as normal, so from the front you can only see the fans behind the grills. Then put that duct behind the front fan... somehow attach them and then put a back fan at the rear of the drive cage... thus creating a fan-to-fan wind tunnel kind of thing. You wouldn't be able to see this from the outside, it's for performance mainly. I know... sounds weird, lol.
this *might* the best thread for an antec 900 owner i have ever seen :)
great pictures you guys.
This should have been called:
**Official Antec 900 Case Mod Forum**
as I I found many other threads devoted to cases, but not this one, until now.
Anyway, here's a couple pics of my rig. I have to take some better pics and post them, and this gives me the incentive to do so, though I think I'm going to buy a second case and build a second rig for sale all modded out, incorporating much of what I have seen here. I have a spare Striker II Formula, a 500 Watt PSU, and a spare set of Kingston PC6400 Ram, so the rest is not too much.
Excellent job done by all
Here is a pic of the air deflector that I fabbed out of a piece of aluminum to grap air from the bottom 1/3rrd of the fan to blow air over the hard drives. I wanted to mount them backwards and have them flush with the drive bay and wasn't able to do it directly behind the fans.
http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/9...diumen1.th.jpg
Nice job Horseman!
Horseman, you should post some pics of your rig in the dark. I would like to see how the yellow behaves with your cathode lights. Looks sweet :)
Hor$eman, show us what your box looks like lit up. I've always liked those Extreme Spirit IIs.
If the registration issue ever gets corrected, I'll post on a real account name.
As it is, I wanted to get these up for viewing and critiques.
Nothing too fancy, just going for a clean install.
I love grommets.
Put the floppy drive in backwards cause I hate to look at that damn thing. But I wanted it there when I needed it, just out of sight.
Modded the HDs for reverse fit, but I ended up turning em back around cause I liked the look a little better.
Also have to pull the damn PSU out and take it apart and swap the inlet and exhaust fans. Why put the LEDs on the exhaust side???? I wanted them inside for the lighting effect.
Got rid of all those overdone blue LEDs for green ones.
Flash kinda takes away from the paint. Looks darker in person.
Painted all optical drives and floppy black, blends in better.
I'm replacing all interior thumbscrews with Green anodized thumbscrews for a little contrast, yet keep with the theme.
Looking at buying a Matrix Orbital LCD panel.

Drilled holes for wires
I also made a hole on the bottom for airflow since my TRUE-120 will not fit with a side fan, so I thought something was needed for the GPU cooling

ALL feedback welcome
I pray you intend to file those holes :)
Just a tip, get some trim for the hole so that the edges look perfectly straight.
I have 1 left, just sold the other to DaIceMan. The cage is powder coated black satin semi-gloss and comes with a Blue
LED TriCool 120mm fan. Also included is the screws/hardware.
SOLD.

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...tecHDcage1.jpg
Will, do you do powder coating yourself? I might be looking for someone to do some for me.
Before I did my paint job I was really looking to do something like this... I didnt have the resources though. Man though... Is this beautiful or what?
Just found it on the net and thought I would share, I wonder who it belongs too.
:up::up::up::up::up:
I don't do my own powder coating. There is a local paint shop near me that does. When I had the case and two cages done, it took almost a month, since the guy was busy with other bigger stuff. When I got the Silverstone cages, I had those powder coated as well. $10 a cage.
Look around your area, and call some auto paint shops.
Thanks. Closest I have found to me is about 4 hours away. Guess I will have to give them a call.
I was thinking of doing that. Just peeled the stickers off the fans tonight, and added my new Akimbo GPU coolers. You can barely see the motherboard now, hehe.
Unfortunately, my camera doesn't do the night colors justice. The yellow, with the blue lighting, turns to green. I might add a green cathode to increase that and then see how it looks, and if my camera can get a few lit up photos that look good enough to post.
I have edited mine a little bit since last time i posted, thought i would share som pics with you.

Not the best cable work, but i havent got any tools to make holes etc so i used the 2 holes that where pre-drilled.
http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/2...4604is1.th.jpg
This was an accident, while i was trying to hide the green cathodes i put them right under the headphone jack and powerbutton (inside the case ofcourse) and voila the usb-ports are glowing :D
Pretty usefull at a lan party if the lights are turned off
http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/9...4605dk2.th.jpg
Just a close up.
Wow, the USB cathode accident looks quiet nice. I'm gonna try something like that with 4" cathodes... when I have time XD
Yeah, it's pretty tight but I found it. I have my case top off so it was easy to find it. ^^
Some great looking A900's here! :D
I have a few questions, at the moment, this is what my A900 looks like;
http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...r/IMG_7332.jpg
How do I mount a side fan with the Tuniq Tower? Cut a bit off?
Also, Would it be better with the Tuniq Tower Facing the Top?
Annnd :P How do I remove the top?
Thanks a lot! :)
I think it would be better to have it facing the top. That's just my opinion though. My TRUE is and it get's lower temps vs the other way.
Kornowski what is your video card?
I agree on having the CPU fan point up. Lower temps.
Yes, shave some off the fan if need be.
I have the same placement as you, with the Tuniq vertical blowing air out of the back. I feel that the Tuniq looks the best in this position, as if the flames on it are rising. Just my opinion. You could use a side fan if you turn the Tuniq sideways, blowing air out of the top, and shave the top corner of the fan.
A side fan is not really necessary. I made a full lexan panel on mine without the use of one.
Yeah, it's a PNY 8800GTS G92, I have it clocked at 800/2000/1000, with 61% fan.
There's different ideas going around then... I thought that it'd be better out the back, because the rear fan has a higher RPM, so it'll move more air, right?
Although, I am tempted to rotate it and see...
There's only two things stopping me from doing this.
1) How much will it overlap my RAM slots, I have an OCZ XTC on the way you see?
2) How exactly do I remove the top panel? (Pain to fit TT with top on!)
Thanks for the help!
Kornowski:
You can get the side fan to fit if you:
1. Remove the plastic window from the door (leaving only the "grill")
2. Get some zip ties
3. Fasten the fan a little lower than with the side window (original) on, using the zipties and it should fit (did this because my TRUE was blocking it)
In the picture below you should see what i mean.
(OLD PICTURE, looks better now -__- )
http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/2...4493vc4.th.jpg
Edit: If the "grill" is hard to get back you can use a little bit of glue at some spots.
-FilluX
Did a little rework with my 900. Got rid of all the duct tape I was using and went with same fasteners and zip ties. Worked out pretty well. Here's a couple of pics.
http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/812/9001rz5.th.jpg http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/6579/9002bf5.th.jpg
It fits fine with my TRUE. I had to do some sawing though!
FilluX, Thanks for that! :) I'll give it a go!
I've taken the top corner of the fan off, but it still doesn't fit...
Nothing special, just an Ultra X-Finity 600.
Metal Rush your case looks sick, would you mind posting more pics of the wiring job and also the rear 120mm fan please from the inside.....thanks in advanced
Hey guys im going to install Swiftech H20-220 water cooling kit inside my Antec 900 but i have a Question about it .....
this water cooling kit doesn't come with a water tank the water tank is embeded inside the radiator look at the picture
so my question is .... once i fill up the water cooling kit & seal the filling cap can i run this radiator up side down like the picture im showing you ?
Btw the project is not done yet so use the pictures as guide this is only copy & paste to give you a idee
Thx to helping me out & keep On Modding!

Pro Stock i am not to familiar with the whole water cooling scene yet but i am pretty sure that it should not be a problem if everything is sealed up correctly, i have seen quite a few people with theres setup the way that you want to do yours (vertically) so i don't see why not but make sure the seals won't let any liquid out.....good luck post pics when your done

Hey nice setup you did there how does the 200mm fan for your radiator located on the top ?
you have a 120X2 as radiator so does it keep kool? your 200mm cover 2/3 of the rad is it anuff air flow ?
Hey Since you build your self a LC system can you tell me if i can run the radiator upside down once it's filled & sealed ?
anyway MAAjA amazing rig you build there Premium Parts !!!!!!!!
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=1049
i choose the vertical position for the rad & use the fans in front of the Antec to ventilate the 220 Rad
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...007/rad2-1.jpg
Because my CPU cooler blocks the sidefan hole. I need to cut of a edge of the fan. I was wondering how you people do it. With a 'dremel' or something?
For the people that don't know what I mean, I'm talking about this part:
http://img382.imageshack.us/img382/7540/fanwo4.jpg
Thx :)
black fan corner cut = Dremel or steel saw
clear fan corner cut = dremel
I just used needle nose pliers and broke it off. Im ghetto.
There are MUCH better cases out there for watercooling. Antec 900 is one of the better air cooling cases actually. With the PSU at the bottom, there isnt much room for anything bigger than say a single 120mm rad. ;)
EDIT: Holy shoe horn batman!!! Nice! Those pics never came up when I made that post. now im wondering if I can mount my 120.3 like yours... I think I just need to move my DVD drive down a couple notches....
Hey check this out ;) do you think a single 120mm rad can fit in the side window bracket ;)
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...etekLCLC-1.jpg
Maaja that looks good but, why not lose the bottom hard drive cage all together and push the pump back where you can't see it?
LMFAO... I just quoted what you said and was gonna rip u one  then under the quote it pulled up your edit
The rad will work upside down if u have a good clean o ring and it is tight...
That single radiator would fit, but you will be limited to the graphics card size. And in my opinion it simply would not look good. I would do the radiator in front over the side mount, just my 2 cents :)
Where do you get these SATA 90 Degree Power Plugs that connects 3 drives?
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/4599/img2629dq4.jpg
By the way great looking Antec 900s on this thread!
you can order them premade, sleeved etc...
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/50...R27n&mv_pc=136
Or you can make your own...
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/17...v_pc=804#blank
I would make your own. I ordered one of those premade SATA power cables with 3 connectors, and it didn't fit my needs, due to the spacing between connectors.
Your best bet, is do what I did, and make your own. Since my Silverstone CFP51-B cages hold 4 HDDs, I made a 4 connector SATA power cable. For the SATA data cables, I used 24" Black 90 degree cables.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../DSC09935e.jpg
I may have had pics before, but these are updated with lotsa new hardware.
Yellow ehh? Looks like a giant bumblebee!!!! (looks good though!)
I was going to paint the insides all black and continue with my blue lighting theme along with green UV reactive liquid for the water...:)
Very nice Horseman! Nice paint job!
Did some more polishing and cleaning to get this sucker to shine! What do you all think? The airflow in this case still surprises me. It's 78F in my house and my CPU temps still notice a diff from medium to high settings. Loads at 59C as we speak!
Hor$eman, that is a very nice Super Bee theme going there! The yellow and black case matches the Antec TPQ-850 perfectly!
DANG! you just reminded me that I forgot to order my new side panel. Oh well, I won't have time to do my custom window before being out of town on vacation anyway, but I wanted all the parts here when i got back so I could bust it out in a week. Guess I could just use the back panel until the replacement gets here
Anyway... come on with the pics!!
lol everyone is awaiting the arrival of Wills new pics, hopefully he posts them i keep hitting F5 hoping they will be there
Thanks! I will have to check into getting one. I would like to do something a litle different also, just not sure what yet.
:D
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../e-bay054e.jpg
The lighting is not as good as I had expected, but than again, I am no photographer. yet.
so u guys think a antec ninehundred is ok for a system who is going to be overclocked :) ?
u think i shall go 4 it?
Its a solid air cooled case no doubt. Go for it!
WiLL as usual the case looks amazing......the side window looks nice do you notice any diff in temps since you do not have a side exhaust fan????.....are you planning on adding one or no??
Very nice mod WILL... two thumbs up!:up:
I've never had a side fan from the start. No noticeable difference in temps. My CPU runs around 30-33C, @ 3.6 OC. I have a Big Boy 200mm replacement fan coming soon, and a 40mm fan to mount on the Gigabyte NB. I bought a set of black rubber feet from mnpctech, since the LED feet do not fit the overall look of the case. I am about done with the modding to the case, only thing left is to replace the hardware inside when the time comes.
2.5hrs later and I got to page 44....I must say....one of the best threads on any forum ever!!!! It has given me the inspiration to do some cable management and possibly do the slim-dvd drive on the bottom.
Keep up the great work guys...maybe soon, I will have some pics to post of my A9. :)
Last mod that I see myself doing would be to modify/cut one of the HDD cages, to fit my next video card (8800GTX, 9800GX2, etc). When that time comes I'll post a picture afterwards.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...SC09938mod.jpg
I see you removed the top Fan, does it make a huge diffrence in noise / temps.
10/10 For neatness thats a CLEAN Antec 900.
I removed the top fan because I broke it. The temps have risen, and is noticeable when reading the motherboard temps (high 40s C). Adjusting your CCFL(s) while the system is running is not a recommendation. The Big Boy fan should arrive this week, along with a 40x10mm fan for the NB. Black rubber feet time soon.
You sure do good work WILL... Everytime I see your case makes me want to buy another Antec 900 and do it again! :D:up:
Will cant wait to see how clean the last mod comes out..
Hughy your not alone with that thought lol i almost purchased another one but was afraid i would not get the revised one if i ordered from newegg, plus i fell in love with the 1200 and will have that very soon and possibly another 900 to do over
I wanted to do the slim cd-rom mod but im to much of a wuss because i have not found a really clear DIY on it yet, im pretty sure if i had one id give it a shot
Side window turned out very nice Will. Me likes!
Thanks. The window came out great. I only paid $20 in parts, instead of paying $60 for the same mod from FrozenCPU. I followed Mnpctech's video tutorial, and used their rubbing molding. I used a piece of lexan from Home Depot, and fastened it with 3M Clear Double-Sided Tape.
...still has ugly feet :P
Ok, so here's the deal. I'm planning on doing the slimline optical drive mod pretty soon, and I have a couple questions.
1) Does the Antec drive cage replacement part (found at http://www.antec.com/Detail.bok?no=503 ) come with the black plastic fan mount on the backside?
1b) If it doesn't, does anybody know where I can get that fan mounting clip?
2) As far as I know, everyone I have seen has used a slot loading disk drive. Is there some painfully obvious reason why a tray loading drive should not be used?
3) Finally, does anybody who has done the mod have a drive they would recommend? I'd like to keep costs low, but am looking for CD/DVD RW capabilities. Lightscribe would be nice too, but I really don't want to pay more than $70 for a drive.
Thanks!
