Didnt know memory was on auto. I would still up the vtt to 1.32, and nbv 1.50. You need to set your memory subtimings, set trc to 45, trfc to 85, and run blend again, i bet you pass, then go back and fine tune the trc, trfc.

ok will try that heres some pics of bios settings and real voltage values in everest.

tried these settings and i got failure in blend staright away.
Did you up the vtt to 1.32 ? pll 1.56, put your ram at 2.00 v Your vtt says 1.26 way to low, i dont care what everest says for now, you can always lower later, you have to set hight to begin with, and pass orthos first, then lower later. You may still have to up your nbv, this board takes alot nbv to run linked n synced.
Ok applied your settings running prime95 now will see if it passes the hour mark as always before fails bang on 48mins.

Alright, found out my Q6600 has some sort of fsb wall at 1400 fsb. Anything over that and it's bye bye stability, no matter what the multiplier or vcore is set to.
It needs around 1.45vcore to stay stable at 3ghz. Which is quite nasty.
My ram can clock easily up to 1600 mhz, is it worth setting it to 1600. The only thing is that would be higher than my fsb which is 1333. Would I gain anything with this?
Failiing this, would I gain anything from tightening the timings a bit?
I have seen q6660 do 4 gigs. The best performance on this board comes from linked n synced, when you go unlinked you lose performance, but you may have no choice, i would sell that q6660, and get a q9650, $275 brand new on ebay, then you hit 4+ .
my goal is really to hit that 4ghz on this qx9650 chip on this board in the past i needed like 1.5vcore to hit 4ghz which i think was really bad .So if we can get this stable now at 3.8ghz with the above settings we may be able to move up slowly till we hit the wall, i could not beleave what was so extreme about this chip as orthers needed far less voltage to hit 4ghz.
Yeah, been informed by a number of guys on the corsair forums and elsewhere that this particular batch of cpu doesn't do well at all. Someone else with a slightly similar batch number can't get his past 2.8ghz.
You suggest a Q9650, only problem is that I'm not watercooled, and not doing anything extra to cool NB and SB. I did point some fans at the fusion block when trying to clock this Q6600, in order to iron out temperature issues.
What could I realistically achieve without watercooling this board?
For reference, a NB voltage of 1.45 gave me max load temps of 55 degrees celsius.
You would have to change the nb heatsink that can be done for $35, and will drop your temps into the 30s idle and probally around 50c loaded, or you can go watercooling, but to me its way to much money, and over rated. Then you could buy a good cpu cooler for $35 that would cool the 9650 very well, so its much cheaper to buy heatsinks, than go water, and i find they do a good job, im 37c idle 40s full load, then the sky is the limit, im running 2040fsb linked n synced with those temps, i have room to go higher, but memory wont go.
Yeah Trigger that would improve things bigg time.
FAILURE AGAIN tried your settings neo im really thinking its this dam board how much voltage do u need to give it to do a mere 3.8ghz ,like i said before fails bang on 48mins very starnge and anoying.

wow, well has to be not enought voltage somewhere, give 1.34vtt, 1.52 nb, make sure you memory is 2.0v, try again.
Ok will try again tomorrow thx for ya help for today.Oh and i forgot to mention at stock settings 1.(1333x9 unlinked 1600 and memery settings 7-7-7-20 1t and all orther memory settings on auto )2.(cpu voltage settings everything on auto except for ram v.1.84 and nb v 1.42 with loadline disabled it can pass prime95 on and on and on no problem. So its only when i overclock the cpu im getting this failure at 48mins @1600linked&sync x9.5 3.8ghz so what do u think could it be i need to crank up the cpu vcore as if memory passes @ stock settings we might have to rule that out. Also gtl settings i have tried loads of combinations to no aveil. If i set the cpu vcore to like even 1.325 and llc enabled it can run for ages in prime95 on small FFT,But test it in blend its a BSOD.
Can tuning NB GTL have any effect on stability?
My OC can't stay stable at 1600 fsb even with 1.5v NB and 1.55 SB. The CPU passes Intel Burn for 20 passes. But it will bsod and restart itself after 30-40 minutes.
I think the mobo may not be liking it for some reason. RAM is set to 1066 (3:2 ratio).
How do you calculate NB GTL?
VTT is set to 1.36 in BIOS (1.38 actual).
Yes nb gtl can help with stability. Why are you running memory at 1066, we have been thru this how many times, your not listining at all. You have 2 9800gtx in sli ? how big is your powersupply ? what voltage is your memory at ?.
I was running memory at 1066 as someone on here told me that any ratio other than 3:2 1:2 1:1 will NOT work. I may have got this wrong, but my instabilty also happens when ram is 1333 and unlinked.

yes, running 2 9800GTX+ in SLI with Zalman HP-1000 watt PSU.
All I'm saying my system always reboots after 30-40 mintues after running intel burn test. It'll pass 20 then if I leave it alone idling in desktop, it will have restarted on it's own.
i have also tried RAM at 2T. It still restarts. I have tried RAM at 1066 and 1333, restarts.
Joebloggs,
Just for a laugh, start the CMD prompt "run as administrator" and type sfc /scannow
Maybe windows is corrupt?
I'll try it tomorrow.
I can clock up to 1333 fsb easily. (3ghz). No problems runs sweetly there.
If windows was corrupt I'd be getting random bsods with stock settings and OC'd 3ghz settings as well right?
This is a brand new install of vista 64 bit. Installed with all BIOS settings on default.
ALSO, will try 1.5v for NB. Maybe SLI setup needs more NB?
I told you before you memory voltage is to low, needs to be at least 1.75 1.85 volts, i dont know any memory that runs at 1.6, only i7 memory, and that runs 1.65, jack up your memory volts for starters, that alone could fix your problem, your undervolting your ram by alot.
I have no idea why his ram is at 1.6 , im surprised it runs, at least go to 1.85v, i bet that is his whole problem. By chance is your ram ocz ? known issues with all 790i boards, i wouldnt run ocz on any 790i board.
Mike, whats up with the tripple channel kit you were going to get? (high-end one)
What other plans you have for this board?
I got big plans for this board slim:rofl:. Im not sure what kit to get, heard the csx diablos do 2100 on this board easy, lot of nbv, but they will do it.
I want the Adata 2133mgz, or Corsair GT 2000 cas 7, but havent seen to many overclocks with corsair kit, want to see what people are hitting on those. I dont know what else i can to the board, thought about a 9650q, but alot of work to overclock, and get ram to 2100, aint going to happen, that i promise, rather keep my e8500, and have ripping fast ram.
I would like to put 2 gt 295s in sli:up:, but dont have the cash right now for that. So im just enjoying my board, would love to ln2, and push it to brink of blowing, thats in the future.
What are you plans ? when in the world are you going to get cooling ? gosh Slim go buy a $30 cooler and take off your nb junk, and it really drops temps, so you start overclocking that baby.
Diablos would be good, but D9s are getting behind compared to the new Elpidas so I would recommend trying Tripple Channel Elpidas as you will have an extra stick for the future when you migrate to i7.
Couple of people overclocked the Dominator GT already on the HOT GT thread, but I havent really pay attention to them since I dont need a new kit of RAM for now, but I plan on getting an Elpida kit once I feel my RAM is getting behind.
My plans, well one day I will have the money to finish my water cooling project that I started back in August. I really want to overclock this thing but oh well. I also get lazy when I think about getting everything out of the case etc etc. I guess Im not really motivated since I was really hopefull to have my system watercooled and ready long ago.
