The magic number to stay under seems to be 44 degrees, if I stay under that I get sickening OC's....did 2950MHz on same stock yesterday....with some help of King Bor here.. ;)

..guess water finally is coming into play for me..:rolleyes:

EDIT:

I mounted my BT instead and instantly lowered load temps with 6-7 degrees...now I see max load of 45 degrees...not bad!:)
..must have been a lousy applied AC5, to eager I guess...

Just thought i'd give a bump to you guys looking for specific steppings.

Over at flickerdown.com we're shipping 170 CCBWE 0550UPMW's out tomorrow. We've got access to up to 15 of them at the moment.

The steppings seem to be alternating between those and the CCB1E 0550VPMW's on a weekly basis. This week just happens to be the CCBWE's.

Oh and here's one of the VPMW's I shipped out last week. I couldn't help but order one for myself. I've had about 1 1/2hrs with it so far. bios is bone stock except for the 180 divider and the 280 speed. Just settling in for a midnight prime on its first day of use :)

Mine with 1.50v in BIOS idles at 29c with a Big Typhoon + AS5, ~19c room temp.

3000 @1.45v(bios setting??) seems awesome to me..that would be 1.48v with overvolting on the DFI or only 10% bump for 50% OC..very nice

Argh, Core 0 crashed after 1 hour 20 minutes of prime at 1.488v, bumped upto 1.52v, should get alot more out of it now.

Changed HS, left it priming this morning and found this when got home:

1 hour 42 minutes of priority 9 dual prime now :) 2.8GHz @ 1.52v, seems a little high compared to some of these 0550's :( Does anybody know if running at this voltage 24/7 will do any long term damage to the chip, or is this voltage perfectly safe for 24/7 use? Just seems really high compared to these 0550's.

Check the Vcore measure point w/ a DMM to be sure. Mine 1.5 = 1.6 :eek:
1.5 is ok for longterm, I don't like 1.6 :down:

It's set to 1.55 in the BIOS, and CPU-z/MBM5/SmartGuardian say it's 1.52.. I don't have a DMM to check it right now :(

What is the batch of yours Clint? I want one to;)

I saw a post here at some point highlighting the meaning of the digits on the 3rd line below the CPU. Anybody remember where it is?

I have an Opteron 170 0550 VPMW, with the digits

1387678L50147

Is this a known good batch? I know the stepping has gotten favourable reviews.

Which part is the batch number?
Is the entire number the serial number?

I have an Asus A8N-SLI Premium and 1 GB of OCZ Platinum Rev 2 RAM.

I am able to get 2600 stable at 1.36 vcore (bios, PC Probe shows 1.39) using an XP-120C HSF. My dual prime load temp is 48 C. My RAM is set to 400 in the BIOS (1:1) at 2.5-3-3-7.

As soon as I go up to 2650 I have to slow the RAM down and my temps go up to 49-50.

This doesn't seem too bad but I was hoping for better.

I don't want to install water and I don't want temps much higher.

I tried a 0550 UPMW but it could not match the VPMW at the same settings.

So from you experts out there, how does this seam?

..truly amazing chip this, I simply can't make any core to give in first...it rather freeze on me it seems...gonna test another PSU and see what that brings.

Got 2 same stepping (Mine is CCB1E, what is your's :hrhr: )
Mine is running water @ 2.8Ghz / 1.36 Vcore (DMM) (Rosetta Stable :D ) Temp is 38-39c IIRC

Ablatt, you should be getting a lot higher than 2.65 Ghz, mine did 2.85 on air with stock volts. And you have the same substrate, i think the motherboard is holding you back man. Hey you got from the same buyer as me right, foureverquest? LOL, i recognize the batch # on yours... 0147 he almost sent me that one.

Clint, your chip is very amazing, i think it's better than mine. Set it to 3 Ghz, bet you can do it with 1.42 volts or so.

Absolute 0, what RAM and RAM settings are you using?

Also what temps are you hitting to get 2850 on air?

lol, i hit 3 Ghz on air, i hit 2.85 on air w/ stock voltage. Temps were mid 40s C.

I just have a 2gb set of ram that i put on a 166 divider, it's otherwise stock, no tweaking at all.

Damn you people and your 0550's :( I'm getting jealous, I need tons of volts to get 2.8.

Anyone knows how badly coldbugged the 170 0550VPMW is?:confused: I think i´m going to try it with DI.:)
