ASUS P5W DH - Problems + Fixes Thread

In case anyone was wondering about what 1705 is all about, I had an email from ASUS stating...

1) Support micro-code total size over 64KB.
2) Add uCode M016F982 for Conroe E-0 Beta CPU.

There you go!

It also fixes the problem of this board with 7950gx2 and Vista Installation

Corsair XMS2-5400UL 2GB(4x512MB) is this the memory that is working the best for you.

Hi,

This is a semi-positive response, but I would assume that BIOS releases come from the Taiwan or US divisions. We have seen many BIOS releases already and none have even attempted to include tREF option even at the 'test' phase.

Even if Asus intend to address this and quite possibly the most important issue with the board we need to get Asus to get a release out or the the very least give us an ETA.

Any chance you can point David to this forum/thread?

I'm going mad trying to set this system up.

My system is:

Asus P5W DH
Asus 7900GTX
corsia value select 667 1GB x2
BIOS 1705

The problem is when I setup the system install all Asus drivers etc. When it comes to loading the nvidia driver the screen goes blank.

I have tried different BIOS and various nvidia drivers but always get a blank screen when I install the nvidia driver. I have to reset the system in safe mode then uninstall the nvidia driver to get the system back.

Can someone plz help.. Is this graphics card compatible with P5w?

Yes, it's compatible.

My GTO (identical to GTX) is flashed with GTX bios and works very very well (PEG link @ FASTER is very nice)

How did u flash the GTO? can I flash my card? where did u dl the bios from?

You click Free at the bottom and then wait the time it says

Then you type the letters from the pic into the box and click download. (it times out if you don't type the letters in within a certain period of time)

Well I upgraded the card and installed the latest nvidia drivers and I get a blank screen! same problem... what driver are u using?

Hold on, you already had a 7900GTX bios on the card? Why did you flash it? lol

I hope you have the old bios to flash back with in event of warranty..

i have the Asus P5W DH dlx mobo ith a E6600 cpu.
2 - 500 gig hdrives sata ii
2 - 250 gig sata ii hdrives
1 - Raptor
1 - liteon DVD]
1 plextor 760A DVD burner
2 gigs Consair mem
more but that should be enough
..
set up
i have the boot raptor as SaTa1 (ICH7R) SATA3 & SATA4 the 2 500 giggers
ICH7R Ide port master = lite-on burner

the 2 250 giggers i have on EZRaid & EZraid2
the plextor ide dvd burner on the Jmicron ide connector PR_Eide

ICH7R defined as Raid set up the 2 500 giggers as Raid0
Jmicron setting Raid/ACHI (AHCI) whichever

Now i can see the plextor hooked to the jmicro ide as i boot and iut even shows up in the bios as a possible boot device but i dont see the drive in winbloze looking in devices i see 2 JMicron JB36X Raid drivers one with exclamation point. ist there suppose2 be another JMdriver 4 the ide DVD?

Also when i set BootRom to disabled (still with Raid setting) changes the drives i see as bootable devices and the Raotor boot drive is no longer seen in the bootable device settings..

When i set the JMcron controller mode to Basic with the plextor dvd hooked up the system just hangsforever.

i only can get into te jmicron controller bios when i plug another drive to theEsata port then i can get into the Jmicron bios butthe 2 - 250 giggers never appear only the external drive..

i have the raid sel jumper set at raid0...

any info is certainly appreciated

Dunno if this effects anyone, but i used to get a CPU ucode error, flashed to 1705 and WOMPH, it's all gone! Happyness is.

I suspect that your uCode error was cause by no ES uCodes in bios, dunno why they would put them in 1705 though..

Probably, who cares though, ES users rejoice, we don't have to press F1 everytime we want to boot our damn PC's!

Hey all

I've just received my new system (2 days ago) but cannot get my 4th drive connected.

this is my setup how i received from the store;

Raptor and 2 samsungs on the normal sata connectors
1 samsung on the Jmicron connector(near Cpu)

In the bios it says: not connected , 4th master

I also could not instal the Jmicron drivers from asus cd supplied with mobo.
It gives an error after rebooting, so i removed the software.
Maybe thats why i get a message after bios boot from Jmicron; it names that samsung disk and xp does start up after that.

Can anybody help me with this?
Can i connect 4 drives on this mobo, no raid just normal ?

and there is a file ive done it now and my Spd tables are correct now and i can boot from SPd and its auto set to Pc8500 5-5-5-15

so ima try and go up to 400mhz and see what happens

well unfortunately no luck but on the up side at least my Spd tables actually work now

what doesnt make sense to me is that all of the ram modules that you guys are using actually have the Same IC's as teh 8500C :S

Atm im running my Core2 E6600 @ 333mhz*9 = 3000mhz @ 1.35 Vcore

and the Temps are
idle
Core 1 33 oC
Core 2 33 oC

and probe reports the temerature at 24 oC - 28 oC idle

now when it goes to load while using orthos it Jumps dramatically and i was wondering wtf is up

like the CPu goes from 24oC in probe to 61
and the cores are hitting 70 im just wondering if thats ok ?

or do i need to get AS5 asap ?
