Ya 45nm is really good for overclocking.
Well everyone,
After 6 months with my ga-x38-dq6 v1.0 board, my likes and dislikes:
FOR
1. Good overclocker
2. Rock solid stability
AGAINST
1. Terrible vdroop
2. DPC Latency
3. Advanced BIOS MIT settings - WTF do they do? No real world examples
4. Crazy Cool is not really that cool
Overall considering the $400 AUD buy price I give it a score of 7/10
a GOOD bios release could notch it up 2 points, but I think it's more hardware limitations, probably need to do a vdroop mod, but can't find idiot proof instructions.
What are your thoughts on your x38-dq6?

My best fsb at the moment on this X38T-DQ6 board
My opinion on this board is that it goes quite allright, nothing to deplore, maybe a bit weak on fsb :p: and not as reactive as an Asus mobo on spi1m and Co.
Anyways I like it
Oups, Still there is something annoying: not too much bios releases for that DDR3 version
EDIT: Can I set the vfsb at 1.35v or even 1.4v for today use ?
I'd like to get my cpu running at 534x7.5
Highest +'s:up:
Very stable when overclocked
Very easy to overclock
Enough ports for all my hardware (at last)
Hardware compatibility seems very good
Lowest -'s:down:
Crazy cool 'so not cool' serious heat at 500fsb (hopefully w/block will sort)
annoying start-up recycling after being switched off overnight 'with PSU on' regularly needs the PSU switched off/on to allow clean boot.
Space between memory and 1st GPU slot, too small for safe memory cooler fan to be fitted.

X58 by Xmas?

I guess my X38 will hang out a bit more :)
can someone post oc'ed bios settings for a EX38-DS5??
My friend in sweden is trying to get his cpu (E8400) on 3.6ghz with this ram (Crucials PC6400 4-4-4-12 2.2V).
The problem is that the bios says 3.6ghz but windows says 3ghz so default. I am thinking that the bios doesn't save the oc settings.
Using bios F2 and disabled USB legacy device in bios.
Anybody there knows what the clock generator on x38 ds5 is .
Is for setfsb .
I think it is GIGABYTE GA-X38-DS5 : ICS9LPRS914EXL ou EKL
If it wasnt for the latency issue i would give it an 8 out of 10, but as it is 6/10. You can get good overclocks etc but the latency issue spoils it and affects performance.
ToyTen Thx
It´s ICS9LPRS914EKL
What program will tell me my voltages on mch and what not?
Any one??
I'm tempted to take my q9300 back and just get another new q6600. I can't keep this thing stable above 3.3Ghz and it isn't doing to good compared to my q6600.
What are some latencies examples at 480 & 500 FSB (Everest)? Does this mobo offer any control of trd (performance level) like ASUS, or any clock skew , pull ins or pull outs? These areas can greatly impove RAM/NB performance. I can get trd7 @ 480 & 500.
Mine hits 6 with 1176 Mhz Memory 2.6d strap.
hi there
its hot.. summer is here ... I had to drop the speed down on my board..... me needs water cooling !!
anyone know of a good site or list of parts that would be good for a x38-dq6 with a q6600?
peace:)
Has anyone received a Revision 1.3 PCB for any of the EX or X38 models?
Well Gigabyte have released bios fixes for a problem they admit lies with the motherboard. The problem is the bios fixes only help with the problem in most cases.
Sure my system works and gets good normal benchmarks scores etc etc, but it has an issue that other boards dont have.
I could understand it not being a problem for the average PC user but if you spend top dollar on high end parts i kinda expect better.
I would like to see a screenshot of the DPC checker on your system, if its not too much trouble. You might be one of the lucky ones but from what i'm seeing on different forums it looks like about 90% have the problem on all Gigabyte boards.
Have Gigabyte forsaken us??....it's been over a month since the last bios update...come on GB!
