Just wondering....Is their a new rev of this board since introduction?
sig and thread: http://xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=122207
ram is 4-5-4-12. max volts on all including cpu. p5b dlx chipset rev c1.
ive done some more, reaching 465 FSB x 8 multi.
According to Tony's NBCC formula: 9/8x465=523 NB frequency.
465 fsb lies on the 1333 strap with relaxed timings. spi timings suck, period. compared to my 400x9 timings.
max fsb i get is 467 (non stable), which is where tony points out the memory bandwidth (not latency) would be comparable to that of the bandwidth at fsb 400 on the variation of latency "1067-1333" strap.
the max my chip will go is 3720 mhz orthos stable at 1.6 volts (a bit much, not necessary to run at 1.6, only added just incase after long load it drops and crashes the cpu).
i want to see how far this cpu will go. i know its not my board because there is no fsb wall (which tony refers to as a misdiagnosed "nb wall"). the NB will go to 523 mhz for sure. my memory is stable at the fsb (ddr2 at 1:1).
is my cpu limiting me (meaning that the max operating frequency is 3720 @465x8)? or is it the nb? is there a fsb hole?
what other combinations should i try?
will post spi times for 1m later.
i just installed a 400 gb seagate sata 2 drive. my main OS drive is raptor. raptor drive is partitioned into 2 drives. XP was installed without hitting f6.
i just ran HD tach. my seagate drive is getting 260 MB/sec while my raptor is only getting 136 MB/sec. WHAT IS GOING ON?
don't lend so much weight to HDTach.
I have an X-Fi and nVidia card installed.Quote:

I am wondering if the new Intel processors have built-in piracy protection hence it does not like my custom copy.. anybody know anything on this and would like to share...
What's the real deal on actual CPU voltage with this board? A setting of 1.45v in BIOS gives me 1.38v in every monitoring progam in Windows. 1.50v in bios gives me 1.44v in Windows. I'm running the 804 bios.
Has the discrepency been confirmed by anyone with a Fluke??
asus undervolts about .05v especially noticable on cpu and ram.
are you oc?Quote:

On the Seagate there is a small jumper where you can reduce link speed to max 150 Mb/sec also, to be compatible with SATA I boards. Note that burst is not equal the sustained rate.

Remove your PCI X-Fi card during install.Quote:

is the p5b deluxe non wifi running corsair dominator ram 1066 MHZ 1:! to fsb???
without problems??
regards
thanks mel!
Yes, E6600 @ 3GHz (300 fsb). Patriot PEP21G6400LL PC2-800MHz@ 900MHz.Quote:

You just set ramdivider to 1:2, and you will get 266Mhz*4 = 1064Mhz. If you're gonna overclock you may have to set 2:3 or something, based on what fsb you get.Quote:

Anyone have any suggestions on another board to try ?Quote:

The chipset can handle a very high dram frequency, lets say ~~550~~600. Memory mustnt be a problem while overclocking.Quote:

Had the voltage set to 2.25. These modules are suppose to be set to 2.2 for Cas 4. 2.25 shows up in windows as 2.2 Just manually setting the parms (as the board does not do EPP) Cas 4 is the 400 MHZ profile. They are also rated to do 500 MHZ at Cas 5. Just did an RMA with Crucial for new chips. Asus is already closed for Christmas :( Can't do an RMA until after. This board has been flaky all along. Probably just got a bad one.
It could be the combination of the mobo-mem.
Try different memory instead of crucial.
It is on the approved memory list for the board. That is why I got it. Just sent RMA to Crucial. Would you not recommend to RMA the board ?? It died and took me two days to bring it back. Now the memory is fried again ??Quote:

if your board takes 2 days to revive then i would suggest ditching the board if you cannot get a refund.
you can RMA it but get a different board.
Well, it is too late to do anything but RMA it to Asus and Asus is closed for Christmas. I am sure they will give me another P5B Deluxe. Once this is done, the question might be try different memory or different board ?? Sell the old memory or board ?? What luck have other folks had with Crucial Memory on this board ?? Is anyone doing Cas 4 with the Crucial Memory on this board ?Quote:

bump for my post in this thread (should i create new?): http://xtremesystems.org/forums/show...postcount=2585
need to know how far i can push this before it stops, because im in for upgrades this christmas boxing day.
Hi.
I just installed a new bios.. and was testing.
got it to boot at 530 Mhz fsb. then I just for the fun of it, tried 540.. but now it won't boot.. ..normally it just automatic detect a bad oc, and go to default settings.
I have tried to reset bios (for a couple of mins with jumper on clear cmos).
but nothing works.. no post, no beeps from system.. it worked before..
I didn't change any v settings.. only the fsb.
is my mb (against my thoughts) dead ?
KingGuru
ps. have tried to remove power, and battery for 30 secs.
