I hooked up all, my old stuff to my old GA-P35-DQ6 that GigaByte sent back to me and said was fine, and no post....... I was so tired at that point considering I had to setup both my new setup / old one at that point, I just started to overclock the new Q9300 a little. I beleive, I was able to get 7.5 x 421 = 3.16Ghz~ and then I hit a wall... I gave up quick however and turned off the PC and went to bed. I am going to chew GigaByte a new ass today for sending me back a board that doesn't even post.
The EP35 got a beta bios update, they listed the audio latency as a fix...so GB do seem to be working on it.
I want one for mine that fixes my overclock to be better..

guys definitely try this new bios F9a
i've been playing with it as of late and i have to tell you it's pretty bloody good.....i'm finally happy with a bios after F3...:up::up::up::up::up:
it would be prettyy difficult as the Asus P5E3 Premium WiFi is the 1st asus board to have dual channel GTL ReF settings.Quote:
Whya cant Gigabyte just lable their stuff like ASUS
GTLREF1 = cores 0 & 2
GT:REF2 = cores 1 &3
Default values are I think 67% & 63%
luck:)
Any specifics that jump out?
I'll give it a go, but would like to know where I should expect to see improvments.
I'm currently on F7 which I've found very stable, gives me 400x9 or 450x8 no problems on my Q6600.
Memory clocks up to 1200 on 450x8 using 2.66d without any issues (even with the 4x1 GB sticks)
I've recently stuck with 400x8 and 1066 as my chipset seems to get very hot, I'm awaiting all the Acetal EK chipset/Mosfet blocks to come into UK stock before cranking the fsb up over 400 again especially with the weather getting hotter.
It wouldn't be all that hard. DFI offered it for over a year now since early Q6600. P5E3 Premium is just the 1st from ASUS, while MSI and few others have too for a bit now. It was just a NAND flash and BIOS upgrade, otherwise same as 1st MAXIMUS FORMULA wich P5E later became.
I just meant it would be nice to see actual selectable values of voltages and strapping as well as dividers.
I have been able to get to 420x 7.5 = 3.15Ghz Easy on 1.26v~ I just let it sit on that last night to burn it in a little. I will jack it up more soon.
Pretty good freq for the volts:yepp:
I never seem to get any CPU that will do much at all at low volts.
They've all tended to do well as far as top end freq but then they've all needed some serious volts to get there.
One day I'll get one that clocks well and doesn't take too much juice to do it!
It's a q9300 but, I'm guessing you cought that already though. My other board which I still think is better then this one "GA-P35-DQ6" is blown,, I am sending it back tonight. I was pist when I figured out that they GigaByet sent it back to me not booting at all... My q6600 as you see in my sig does good to. I am probably giving this one to much voltage for the speed it is at right now.
No I thought it was the Q6600 you had at that voltage/speed.
Still plenty of people seem to get away with far lower voltage than me.
I'm still holding off of 45nm, as I can't see one that jumps out and says 'Buy Me' not like the Conroes did anyway.
I tried F9b, bios dated April 18th....but as Pookie said, you can't overclock at all. You try set anything other then default FSB it won't accept it.
I did say you cant overclock when i first posted the F9b bios here a few pages back. Its not meant to be for mainstream usage. The F9b is a test bios to resolve the latency issue. When (if) they fix the latency issue the final bios will re enable the overclocking features.
So if you dont have or dont care about the latency issue , stick with F9a for now.
I have an ex38 so, I don't get to use the bios that disables overclocking darn lol. Any way I got my shiznit up to I bebeive it was 445 x7.5 last night and my shiznit was snappy. I did a latency test on my board fyi and it has the issue as well but, I don't think it is as bad as some people here though. I also besides that subject ran some test on my 445 x7.5 and wow it is alot snappier then my q6600 that is for sure. I was able to get it to like the 2.4b setting and with extreme and a speed setting of 7 it is giving me like 56ms response and 9000~ Mbs all way across in everest on the memory test.
Hello truehighroller.
I'm Spanish. Sorry by my bad English.
I have an EX38 DS5 and I tried to overclock my system at 500x8 = 4000Mhz on Intel 8400 1:1 (mem at 1000Mhz) with performance Level 11 (100% stable)
With this I get 8500 mb/s in Everest
If I overclock my system at 445*9=4005Mhz with mem at 2.4b and Performance level at 7 I get in Everest 9150 mb/s and low latences. (100% stable)
With this numbers, I think the best overclock I can do are 445*9
Is it right ?
Thank you very much !
I would think probably but, I am still burning my new one is to so, you might be able to get more out of her if you try. What voltage are you using? I had to get the motherboard to pump 1.35v into it to get it happy there last night. My bios isn't the best either it has obvious flaws in it like the phaze adjust not working,,,. My overclock with my q6600 was severly held back by this board, with my P35 DQ6 I could easily reach 4.15Ghz with my Q6600 and with this one I was lucky to pull 3.95Ghz.
Hello guys
since i swap my old C2Q (which is hardly OC to 3.8)
i said its not worth it if i dont reach 4.0 GHz , with my new E8400 pross.
and in fact it was very easy to achieve the target
Of course i dont forget to OC my 9800GX2 two :up:
