More importantly.. How can you gain access to the GTL REF setting on a EX38-DQ6??
Is anyone slipstreaming SP1 into Vista?
thank you caped_crusader.. I always thought it was on the M.I.T. page, and it just didn't work on this board. Howcome I can only add GTL_REF voltage to CPU GTLREF1 +3%? I can only take it away from GTLREF2 at -3%, -6%, and -9%. Is this strange or even worth messing with this setting with only being able to adjust 1 GTL_REF voltage?
anyone looking for a good 4GB DDR2 RAM kit
have a look at the testing i've done with a Gigabyte X38-DQ6 board (i love this board :D)

I've had no issues at all with 4x1GB on the X38DQ6.
Corsair 8500 C5 running at 1066 5-5-5-15 100% stable.
I've seen issues with many other boards but this one takes 4 sticks quite happily.
I do like the idea of 4x2GB though
For the record, lots of mobos can do 4 slots and many up to DDR1066. It is in overclocking more of the RAM and especially the mobo and CPU all together that is limited by 4 slot configuration, hence the word LIMIT, just means take 2 out and you can go a bit further if you want.
Have you people noticed that the Q9450s are gone??? The ones left out there are $450!!~... What the hell is about to happen here to make them discontinue these?
Well, NewEgg says they discontinued this item. Microcenter doesn't list them any more either.
I recently bought a Q6700 on sale and I'm extremely happy. I see no reason to buy one of the new ones except if you are new to quads IMHO. The 65nm ones are very fast processors and OC easily to 3.4/3.6 with under 1.4v. That's more power you will ever need, for games, multithreaded apps or whatever.
Besides, the new 45nm parts are rare due to production issues and hence pretty expensive. IMHO they aren't worth the price retailers are asking.
I bought the Q9300.. I will post what I get with overclock once I reload my OS.
Can anyone add voltage to GTLREF2? Dinos22, howcome you can add +6% and I can only add +3% to GTLREF1? Can you add any to GTLREF2, dinos22?
What will GTLREF1 help?
I can't get 512FSB, it freezes like 5 minutes into windows regardless of my settings on MCH..
From my understanding it should help higher fsb overclocks, but I am not certain if it matters if you cannot increase both GTLREF1 and GTLREF2. I am not seeing much improvement when changing just GTLREF1.
My Q9450 came from Tankguys and cost $400, shipping broke my heart.
GTL_Fer1/2? Is this listed as a CPU GTL_Ref 1/2, as in GTL ref for each of a dual core or 2 sets of a quad, or is it just a cPU GLT and a chipset GLT ref caled 1 & 2? Whya cant Gigabyte just lable their stuff like ASUS does so we can all make sence of it. +2 means nothing if you have no idea what 0 was to begin with.
Does this mobo report chipset and other voltages in Everest in actual vales used to compare? I know my P35C-DS3R doesn't yet. (as of Sep '07 Everest BETA v4.20.xx).
If nobody wants to create a BIOS template, can somebody at least direct me to a link of one from any forum or tread?
