Anybody got a better Q6600 G0 then me ?
He does 4Ghz Prime95/Orthos stable on 1.384Vcore, max suicide on that Vcore is 4185Mhz ... Batch is L737B242 with a VID of 1.22500 ....
Wafer number is in the 60-70's ...
I'm just curiuos becuase this thing almost overclocks like a 45nm cpu ... :ROTF: .

I'm somewhat noob to OC. I was planning to get Q9450 till I found out it's not really that faster than Q6600 so I decided to save like $160 and bought Q6600 from Microcenter. it's L740bxxx don't exactly remember as I'm at work now. I was able to OC it to 3.15 but can't get any higher than that. I got Asus P5E-VM HDMI and it's MATX but some people were able to hit 500+FSB with this mobo. Ram is G.Skill 2x2GB PC2 8000. I used same setting as guy who was able to get 500+FSB in BIOS. If I drop Multi to below 9 and keep it below 3.15Ghz, I can get pass 400+FSB mark which I haven't really tried to push hard. VID is 1.3125 and if I bump vcore to 1.5, it would last little longer for prime but eventually just restarts without any error. I can't provide settings in BIOS as I'm at work now but my question is that is it safe to assume that I hit wall with my CPU since I can go higher FSB but can't OC higher than 3.15Ghz? Also would it effect OC if I had PentiumD 820 and just replaced with Q6600 without reinstall of OS?
So for I can hit 468 x 9, but in the mean time on a lower Vcore then that, that first run was with some extra V to be sure.Quote:

I can get 3.6 with 1.3v, but 3.8 takes 1.4v, so I'm betting that you need more vcore. I've had quite a few quads, and getting above 3.6 is not easy. They scale pretty good up to 3.6, but from there most need a lot of voltage and put out a ton of heat. Even if you are lucky enough to get above 3.6 with low voltage, it's still hard to keep the temps reasonable with air cooling. Once summer hits and my ambient goes up to 80-85f, I'll have to clock it down.
Here are my voltages:
Cpu Voltage = 1.4
Cpu Voltage Reference =Auto
Cpu Voltage Damper = Enabled
Cpu PLL Voltage = 1.5
Dram Voltage = 1.95
FSB Term Voltage = 1.3
N.B. Voltage = 1.4
N.B. Voltage Reference = Auto
S.B. Voltage Reference = Auto

I'm curious what those that say they are operating at 3.6Ghz and 1.3v are really running at. Many motherboards overvolt their motherboards while others like mine undervolt. My MSI board on bios 1.1 overvolted while bios 1.6 at later releases after 1.1 undervolt (what bios settings says) the motherboard.
4x4 is making one of the most honest statement that I've read in some time. You need to use brute force or water cooling to get much above 3.6Ghz. I will go one step further and say that every "GO" stepped chip with good air cooling should reach 3.6Ghz or you've failed miserably. FrostyTech.com reviews all the good coolers.Quote:

The chips that can handle 4GHz with low volts are very rare, but they exist. :D
But for most of the buyers, that can't try out dozens of chips, 3600 should be expected with good aircooling, anything beyond that is a welcome plus in performance and is a luck bonus.

seems like my idle windows vcore is about 1.37v? and 1.32-ish under load? can't remember. i'll post a screenie after i get home from work, but my results are basically the same as zucker2k's here. i bought his chip. his board doesn't have near the drop and droop that mine does. oh, and my temps are about 5C higher I think. more later...Quote:
