I can't tell. LoL. Like i said earlier. I cannot see the chips on those. I have identical sticks as what are on the site i linked to, and like i posted ealier, in other sticks the date code on the IC's varies, but there are always the 40445 date on at least one of them. They have metal dots on the top and bottom. I bought the first pair becasue they shared that same pcb as the tccd ram, so i wanted to see if the IC's were what was good, or the pcb itself.

Adata ram that is high-speed rated all end in the -5b in thier "steppings". As do pretty much all other high-speed ram IC's...Be it Micron, Infineon, Hynix, or Winbond, the 5b had been common. Finding dirt-cheap ram with these IC's, on the BP pcb's is worth the wager for speed, if you ask me.
I'm priming right now under 2.75v 2.5-3-3-8 233mhz. I remember a day when you paid big bucks for that. But then i also know you pay big for hand-picking. I'll buy 3 pairs of cheap stuff for the price of one and take my chances, but then again, i'm on 754, and don't really care about ultra-high fsb for daily use...so i can afford to take the chance.

i can go to 2-2-2-5 but it requires a booster right now....kv8 only has 2 dimm slots, and I need at least a gig for my uses.

LoL. the top one in the pic is utt. you can tell the difference in the ic package size. The bottom one is ch-5, i believe.

Update:

at 250 X 9 2-2-2-5 I get memtest errors up the yingyang. :( 280 FSB and no test passes.

The chips are physically identical, altohugh there are minor differences, kinda like recognizing a cubic zirconia in a pile of diamond...the differences are there, but very hard to spot, and most could be explained by simple process dates. But i still think it's all about the pcb.

I got mine Tuesday. They will do 2-2-2-5 with as little as 3.0 vdimm at 200 in a DFI ULtra-D. I'v been burning them with 3.2 vdimm at 2-2-2-5 with test 5 from memtest v1.51 for the last 2 days. I'm hoping to test them out for max speed this weekend.

I've never really had a problem with a bad RAM stick before, so this is a pretty obvious statement, I think, but I'm looking for feedback nonetheless.

I set my system back to stock for a few days and everything was running fine. Then I ran a game and it continually crashed. So I ran memtest (at stock) and found one of the OCZ sticks reporting errors. I tested about 5 other sticks and no problems. So at this point, I'm assuming I have 1 bad stick. Is there any other tests I can run to either better test this stick in question and/or check my other sticks better while I'm at it?

I got mine one thursday but...

I did a sense mod on my nf7-s and I booted up the value sticks at 3.3 volts, nothing happened on the screen, I went back to my Kingston ram, and it worked. I think booting up at 3.3 volts for the first time burned out both sticks. Anyway, I am rma'ing them now. Dammit :( Next time I'll have to burn them in at 2.9 volts for a while before I do the mod to go to 3.3 volts.

What speed and timings were you using when you got the blank screen? 3.3v wouldn't have damaged those sticks. What bios are you using on your nf7? CPC on bios or CPC off bios?

I saw that. ;)

There is no way the sticks died. RMA's cost you and OCZ money and you will end up with 2 more sticks that are the same. Try each stick individually. Then try a different BIOS.

some of these rma's are getting silly lately. boot at 3.3v and then rma? value vx is not warrantied above standard voltage correct? If I am wrong then smack me!;)

I was using a modified tic tac bios, dammit, now I feel like even more of an :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::b anana:. I wish I asked around before I RMA'd them.

Andy, can you recommend me a bios that is garunteed compatible?

EDIT: Also, what shipping method does OCZ use for RMA's?

Ohhh we still dont have those value vx so i can only go on twinmos sp utt or gold vx so in the end i'm getting e some gold vx!!! mybe some other time i get tccd ot tccc for testing ohhh i still dont know thatchips i have in my value geil ram with heatsinks i'm talking avout this memory:

Tested mine some more last night, they won't even do 205 @ 2-2-2, very bad sticks i got. At least i found a use for them in another computer though.

Tried that. I might test them one at a time, and see if one stick is good, i would be willing to take a chance on another set. I'll let you know how it goes.

I know this thread is about the OCZ Value Ram, but someone chimed in about A-data using the Winbond utt chips sometimes too. It seems a little confusing which ones of the A-data are the Winbond and which ones are not.

Anyway, I decided to get some A-data Value just because it was $95 for 1GB (2x512mb) pc3200. I got it today and I cannot believe it. I've only had time to play with it for a few hours but I'm at 262 3,4,4,8 @ 2.9v. I was too nervious to try 3.3v and havn't had enough time to try the lower timings yet, but :banana::banana::banana::banana: 262fsb at price. I'm going to do memtest all night tonight. I'll let you guys know if you are interested.

Am I just SUPER lucky?

Should I try 3.3v or could I damage the ram?

that cant be utt... usually relaxed timings doesnt help this memory at all, which is quite the contrary of what we see here...

I have a gig of v-data that I got for $100 cdn that will run 250mhz 2,3,2,5 at 3.2v

The UTT on value ram is sweet!

I am still waiting for the OCZ to hit canada.

LoL. see....some other cheap stuff works well too! try 3.2v 2-2-2-5 with the adata, maybe, but they may not like the voltage. I noticed my vdata never got hot with 3.2 even, but i have vdata, not adata. Lowering CAS to 3 never made a difference for me. 2.5 was all it needed to hit max.
