Since my Redline can't do over 255, 2.5-3-2 is a no go even at 240...well I have very limited options as to what divider and multiplier to use for 3.40Ghz, though I'd tighten up the trtw, trfc, tras, enable dynamic counter, and use Tref 4708 instead of 0780...this combination yield the most bandwidth at 242 memclock, I didn't gain anything to drop the trfc down from 14 to 13 or 12, using Read preamble 4.5 instead of 5.5 didn't make a difference, tras 5 is optimal....got no gain from 2, 3, and 4. :lol: This is 3D stable, I was playing BF2 Special Force for about an hour, and half an hour of Quake 4....silky smooth!! :D Aquamark is 101xxx, passed OCCT and memtest, SPI 32M is decent too.

I hope they come in soon at Newegg. I'm tired of 2T with 4x512. Anyone know where else they are? Or are they just that new and not in stock anywhere?

I tried charlie's stable settings with 250 htt at 2.5-3-2-8 and all was running fine yesterday. I wake up today and my computer is BSODing off the wall and prime95 gets 100 errors in 17 minutes. What the hell happened.

I backed off to 3-3-3-8 @ 250 htt and everything is running fine. Thats really freakin wierd it 2.5-3-2-8 was 24+ hours prime stable and today it fails after 17 mins. I guess I'm back to 3-3-3-8 ;/

with 2.5-3-2-8 its still memtest stable all day but as soon as Windows loads its a whole different story.

I don't know why people are so concerned about cas 2.5. Cas3 isn't really hardly any peformance hit, it's the trp of 2 that make these suckers shine IMO ;)

My experience is that running cas 2.5 is very hard and dependent on cpu, much like running high 3d stable. I've had these in 3 systems and my max 3d is diff in each of them depending on cpu. Wierd thing is I have diff max's with these same cpus with different ram IE UCCC etc... So something in the bios and or combo limits these. Yet, I can still run 265 24/7 total 3d stable. I can bench and run 99% 3D stable 24/7, but I choose to back it down to 265 as I did experience one crash which may or may not have been ram related, but for extra security and CSS piece of mind I chose to run at 265 :)

JNav, i think you mean you can run at 295 24/7 3d stable before went down to 265 ? :D :D :p:

It meant get an Opteron instead of an A64. Their memory controllers are vastly superior. It seems to me that the memory controller on your A64 simply couldn't handle the stress that 2GB at CAS 2.5 at 250 HTT puts on it. It's a common problem.

Tell the whole story...either that burnt stick wasn't inserted all the way or it was BACKWARDS. i work at a computer repair store and have seen a few times, even did it once myself.

If my 865pe chipset board can handle cas of 2.5 at 265 them in sure his A64s could too.

That is what I was trying to find out, perhaps they were not inserted all the way. Thanks. :slap:
