Oh man that sucks BAD! You had an overclocker's dream for a 6200! I hope you get as lucky with your next one. If it fits your budget... maybe get the 256 MB one instead. Most people say this type of card can't use it effectively but we can overclock to around 6600 GT speeds and IMO it starts to become useful at that point. Just an idea...Quote:

alright - just got my new card in - i haven't take the stock gpu sink off yet, so its got stock thermal tape and obviously stock sink...runing a bit hot at idle, 60c...as far as overclock, i've reached 530mhz with it, and thats running hot..so hopefully with the zalman on there it'll push ita bit...and also, as far as the memory, its doing a lot better than my other...the memory is 4ns like before but i'm hitting 700 without a vmem mod and without ramsinks...hopefully i'll get some killer memory clocks when properly sunk and got the zalman on..be back later with benchies :)
Damn dude that's awesome! As far as I can tell, memory clock is far more important on these cards, it seems that memory bandwidth is a true limitation of this card.Quote:

ok - here we go - i beat my 3d01 and 3d03 score and get within inches of my 3d05 score...i'm wondering if it's worht it to do 4x1 at really high core clock? at 4x1 i was hitting 630'ish...as compared to the 540 i have at 8x1...i'm going to give it a shot and see what it yields...anyway, heres links to my 3d01 and 3d05 on the orb...

Hey guys, just got my 6600 for testing today. I was wondering what kind of memory clocks you guys were getting with stock cooling (ie no Ramsinks).
My card came with a default 500MHz Mem Clock, and it's doing 550 fine, but 600 is giving a lot of artifacts. Core is clocking great.
Mine came with a default of 550 and I can get to 670-675. What core clock can you get to? I'm curious about this since A LOT of people suggest that the 6600 would be better since comes with the pipes unlocked, but I haven't seen anyone with the 6600 get as impressive memory clocks as the 6200 can get. I don't know the reason for this either.Quote:

At 450/550, I'm getting 14.6k in 3DMark01 with a Dimension 8400/3.4GHz stock.
BTW, how many points is the move to Win2k3 Server good for?
Okay, so far at stock with "quick'n'dirty" 50MHz overclock increments, it seems 500/550 is the max. Tried 550 core, that was a no-go, tried 600 mem, that was a no-go.
Score 6746 in 2k3.
I'll get a 2k5 score, and then I'll try 10MHz overclock increments.

I'm curious though... RivaTuner shouldn't be showing extra pipes unless they actually exist, correct? Could Albatron be accidentally using NV40 cores instead of NV43's in their 6600GT??!?!
I think it's funny that they come out with the "obvious explanation" that is actually the wrong one! :D

It seems that simply changing the ID to 6600GT by itself offers a slight increase in performance. Well, worth the try for all of you that want a little more without doing much more work.

I'm going to install Windows 2003 Server Std. and try benching again. Are you using the latest official drivers or the 75.90 betas?
I have an X800XL still sitting in its retail box because I'm having more fun trying to overclock a card about 1/3rd it's price. :D
