My replacement KD7R ran all night at 2100mhz folding. Temps are a tad high, but not bad. I don't know if the SB HS made the difference or if it's just a crap shoot and I got a good board this time. I did not add a fan blowing on caps because the swifty HS is actually keeping them cool because of its design. So far so good...might play with it some, but waiting on Prom to get here before I torture it.:D What memory timings are you guys able to get? I saw it posted somewhere, but can't find it now.
Due to HD corruption much above 203mhz FSB for me, I keep my FSB right at 200 for day to day use. At that speed, I am pleased to report that my Corsair XMS 3200 512 stick will run at:
CAS 2
4 Way Interleave
2,6,2 (max Trp, Tras, Trcd )
2T DRAM Command
Now it can run at 1T, but it will throw an error every few hours or so....so I do not consider that stable. Using 2T, however, she'll loop 3DMark overnight.
Sandra benches are in the 3050 range at these settings. Not a barn burner or anything, but damn fine for day to day, 24/7 use:)
Thanks mdzcpa,
I will try these, I also found marcis timing which are close to yours.:D
I checked the temps where the probe was last night I got temps of 35c or so max while the board was reading close to 50c. Could it be reading the temps from the northbridge? Also I'm only able to run a max fsb of 175mhz my 9700 doesn't want to go anyhigher for some reason. OPP did you need to do anything special to get it to work? Black magic perhaps?
As far as the system temp is concerned, I have no idea why it is reporting too high. If we are to beleive the Abit KD7 manual, the temp is supposed to come off that sensor just to the left of the northbridge. I think it's just something screwed up on the calibration of the sensor.Quote:

The Radeon 9700 is another issue altogether. That card just does not like high AGP bus speeds no matter what mobo you use.
Can anyone confirm if cooling the southbridges helps with the corruption problem?
And has anyone tried using a higher VIO yet?
I wish i could get my hands on a KT400 datasheet to see what timing is screwed up over 200mhz.
There's no option to chang the vio. I guess opp and mricee are just lucky guys to have a 9700 that will do over 200fsb
Not in bios, but you can always hack da board.
I did nothing speacil, I can tell you that my first card had trouble at 77mhz, this card handles much high AGP speeds, got lucky:DQuote:

I can't say if cooling the SB has helped with Hdd corruption because I haven't pushed the fsb up yet, When I have a chance to get up past 200, I will post my luck...or lack of.:D
Hmm lucky!, When you run 3dmarks does it say your vcard is running at 2x? Power strip says mine is at 8x but everything else says 2x :(
My card was running at 8x acording to the latest Cpuid, it would run at 4x with the latest ATI drivers.Quote:

Guys, I called ATI technical support about this AGP 8X issue. The fact of the matter is it's not an issue at all. The tech support rep did actually know what he was talking about. He stated the software developers need to update their apps to recognise AGP 8X. I specifically told him ATI's own drivers tell me my card is running at AGP 2X. He stated the ATI control panel was unable to recognize the currect AGP transfer speed and this would be rectified in the next driver release. But the card is indeed running at AGP 8X.
WCPUID v. 3.1 and 3dMark 2001SE build 330 correctly recognizes the AGP 8X bus speed.
I guess I'll take pstrips info saying it's 8x. According to ati I already have the latest version of the 9700, I guess right now it's either the motherboard that's doing something that the vcard doesn't like or the vcard just dosn't like the high fsbs (my guess it's this).
OPP... need a quick favour... you know you were saying the KD7-Raid allows multiplier adjustment straight out of box with the Tbreds... well, does it allow the full scope of 5.5 thru to 22x, or just 12.5 upwards?? Gotta customer askin over on our forums...
Particularly HERE
Marci, Im not OPP, but I can choose 12 and lower on my KD7 with an XP 2400+.
Yeah you can choose it.... will it boot tho?? I thought when using the multis, set one way 13 = 5, 13.5 = 5.5 etc etc, and when set the other 13 = 13, 13.5 = 13.5 etc etc... So does the Abit now manipulate the bit setting at the same time as you select the multi?? Think I'm gonna find out what I can do with my XP tonight... never bothered trying pushing it up on the multi...
Marci,
I haven't tried booting to them all, but mine goes 5.5 to 18, xp2400 on KD7R with shipping Bios.:D
yes, I can boot it. I use 12*200 right now.
Yep...I've also confirmed it boots at 10, 10.5, 11, and 11.5. No troubles with the lower range:)
Brill.... hope it can do the same with a Palomino XP then... maybe this chip'll reach new heights for me at a lower FSB with a higher multi...
Cheers Guys!
One more quicky... if the KD7-Raid'll do it, can we assume that the AT7-Max2 will also do it? We haven't any in stock at the mo for me to try...
I don't know Marci. I have both boards and the KD7 overclocks a hell of a lot better than the AT7-MAX2. The KX7-333R overclocks way better than both of them. Personally, I think both of these boards suck as far as overclocking is concerned.

When you say doesn't overclock as well, are you saying that one board will let your chip run at higher Mhz then the other??
