Read somewhere it was because they didnt use active pfc or what it was calld. Is not leagal to use it in sweden and most of europe i THINK with capital T.
If i could have got it for 119$ i would ba very glad. That is what i will pay for a 400W.

the "gu" units are probably not the same as "fsp" units.
A big hint is "fsp" means "Fortron Source Power" whereas "gu" means who knows what....

well you all talked me into it! I love my 520 TTGI, but like one poster said, it is just to damn loud. Has to be by far the loudest thing in my rig. Gonna see how this oen works out. I am looking forward to that adjustable +3.3v without modding. I kept being lazy and putting off modding my TTGI, so this will be nice. Some more volts through my L2's will be very nice!;)

I just recieved the FS 530 but the 12V measured from the ATX is a mystery.
The 3.3 was at 3.3, the 5V was at 5.55 and the 12V was at 11.02.
Now, can someone with the same psu, unmodded measure it as well?
I'm thinking that maybe with zero load, the 12V is that low? I know some psu's don't like zero load but this is a bit much.
As far as o know, the pot for the 12V is combined with the 5V on this psu, so when the 5V already is at 5.5, i can't do much with it.

Looking a few pages earlier in the thread shows that Kunaak had the exact same problem and it proves that i was thinking right. This PSU needs some load to show the right voltages.
I have a few small pelts here, 70W each or so. Would it be enough to use those on the 12V and a few fans as well as a load? Or do i need to load all the lines?
one fan should be enough, but just add stuff and see what happens.
I would definitely like to see what happens when you throw on a few pelts. Keep us updated.:D
When I get mine on Thursday, I was thinking of attaching the PSU to an old i850 board. That way you can test the 20-pin molex while its in the mobo, get (hopefully) accurate readings, and wont fry expensive hardware (worst case: you lose the old mobo).Quote:

you probably read it in the wanted section here.. i posted there after a phone call to the fsp representative for europe. he said they don't sell it (fsp530) here in europe at all as it doesn't have pfc which is required by law here. the alternatives he had up his sleeve were the 460w or the 550w - both with just one fan whereas the 530w should have two.Quote:

that guy gave a cheesy explanation why one fan is better than two - which almost made me laugh "if one of those 2 fans fails, the other can't handle the load on its own" - funny thing... what will happen if the fan of a single-fan psu decides to call it a day? boom?
anyway. i got a question for all those europeans that are running a 530w fsp psu. especially to you holst. how does it behave running 230v (or do you britlanders have 110v like the us-people)? that's my only concern right now. i know it the 530 has a switch to toggel between 110v and 230v. but without pfc .. is it any good with 220v? i don't want to go through the hassles of ordering 2 of that thru a friend in the us only to find it doesn't really like 220v (230v).

Ok, threw 2X75W pelts on the 12V and it reacted. Solid 12.02 through 10 minutes, measured from 3 different connectors. (ATX, Molex and the Intel connector)
It seems that it lowers the 12V rail when there is low load on it. Not a bad thing in my eyes.
5V is at 5.14 and the 3.3V is at 3.58.
Dang this psu is quiet and cold!

i have that sparkle 400w and its built similarly to my 530. only 1 fan but its more than enough. the pot adjustment looks identical to the 530 as well. total of 5 pots. 3 large and 2 small.Quote:

5v - 5.12
12v - 12.25
perfect for an overclocked system under load.

80 and 92mm fans but i don't like the bottom feeders. wimpy heatsinks as well. no adjustments either. build quality isn't near as good and the plain steel finish isn't as nice as the nickel plating on the nicer fortrons.
there is a reason why i primarily only buy fortron/sparkle :D

was replaced with. No more shut downs. In fact, the same unit is

Accubyte's poor handling of the situation, along with the
other grossly neglegent assembly problems, are what prompted
my legal case with the Better Business Bureau.
Needless to say, I haven't bought from them since. And in the
mean time Accubyte has fallen from the upper
ranks to the depths of the online vendors.
They are still trying to sell those crappy Kg7 based
barebones systems over two years later. ... LOL!
I hope they at least upgraded the PSU as they were clearly
inadequate.
Especially for a multi drive RAID based system.

Looking at ResellerRatings it seems Accubyte is up to the
same old tricks. Selling dead CPU's and dusty returns as new,
ignored e-mails and RUDE phone exchanges, inacurate webpages
showing different products under the same part number ... etc ...
Almost every customer review is "Very dissatisfied" and their
rating is only 1.67 out of 10. :ROTF::rotf::lol:@ them (feel sorry for customers :( )

More customers need to take the time with a BBB claim

Fortron pictured above was able to handle the load just fine.
Though the rails do fluctuate more (1-2%) than the 400w unit.
Although I must admit the +12v rail on the fsp400 was a tad low
at 11.92. Still, it always remained rock solid and a fluctuation of
0.5% was about it. :up: :worship:
Actually, my friend mentioned he may give the fsp400
back when he builds his new system in a few weeks. :)
just got my FSP 530 in today from Newegg. Nice living a few towns away from the wharehouse here in Jersey. They shipped yesterday and got it today.
So initial impressions are good. I love these Molex connectors. They seem to have a "quick release" feature. Looking forward to getting this in my rig tommorow on my day off. Sorry TTGI.;)
Another thing i noticed is that there was no loss what so ever of voltage when measuring the ATX compared to the molexes. That wasn't the case on my Antec 412. The flat Intel connector is a brilliant place to read the 3.3V when the psu is connected to the system.
