The question i have is to current CoD4 community. I reinstalled CoD4 recently and in few clan servers recruiting was stopped until MW2 comes out.... I wonder what those clan's will be saying now.....
....I cant go and ask them my self i removed the game after few days and went back to TF2 and BF games.
Most likely they will continue playing COD4 and maybe switch to battlefield later on.
Some big sites have picked up the story, I honestly have never seen anything like this.
I honestly don't see a petition of 54k changing IW's position on this at all. How many people are currently gaming on COD4? Using rough numbers found on vgchartz and NPD, total sales for the 360 and PS3 combined are sitting at around 13 million or so. I can't find any concrete numbers but lets assume it's on par with what the PS3 was doing (around 4.6 million). Even if you alienate half of those players you've still got 80% of your userbase happy and content (xbox live and PSN). Apparently this IWnet is also going to encompass console players as well (judging from what I've seen on IW's home site) and be an end all stat tracking system. I'm getting it on the 360 and the exclusion of a dedicated server really doesn't bother me. That being said I've never understood why PC gamers care so much about features that the developer put into the game. You're essentially complaining about not being able to shut off built in features.
Hopefully no one views this as thread crapping, but rather another PC gamer's take on the situation (I play CS:S on steam). I'm all about keeping things fair and nice, but this is a prime example of A) a major market player doing what it wants to make the experience great for the majority of consumers and B) capitalism at it's finest. The only petition you can sign and know that your signature mattered on is the one you make at the cash register/paypal/website/etc. If you don't buy the game, you spoke up.

You could be right, 60 thousand + petitions probably won't make IW care much. But, you can not dispute that the outrage over this is unprecedented. If IW won't take notice, maybe OTHER game developers will, and plan accordingly on future releases.
Or we can all do nothing and just declare "Doom and Gloom", burn our custom PC's, buy Nintendo DS's and play Hello kitty.
Bigdaddy - I don't expect IW to change a thing but once a snowball starts rolling you never quite know where its going to end up.
The consumer is king at the moment, companies ignore them at their peril IMO.
I agree on all 3. FEAR's MP went from a fiendish fast-paced frenzy to a game that looks like a console game, feels like a console game and plays like a console game. That's why there are like 4 servers populated.Quote:

I don't know guys, I just feel like the golden age is ending. We wait and wait for a new game to play, then when it comes out it sucks for PC, so we wait and wait for the next title, only to be disappointed again.

Now we wait for Battlefield 1943, and Bad Company 2.
Who knows how things will work out in the end. Maybe a patch will be released. Maybe they will delay the game and fix this. Personally I'm excited for Battlefield 3. Something to look forward to and potentially build a new machine for.Quote:
