i was runnin 1.17v @4.0 n it crashed after an hour:rofl:
just to be safe i runnin @ 1.2v 500X8
not gaming so i on powersave mode
edit:wasnt cpu volts my ballistix went bad
Looks like I am going to have to roll the dice and order one of these. Hope to get a good one.
you may want to wait just a few weeks for E0 e8500 / e8400. Probably $75-$100 cheaper.
Here is where i am at just now, I can mange 4.5Ghz stable eneough on 1.29v. 4.7ghz will run superpi at 1.34v but not OCCT, so i will try more vcore tonight but anything over 1.35/1.37 seems to get toasty quite quickly.
I believe 4.7 will be stable with 1.39/1.40ish but that is out of reach until i deal with the heat.
i might get lucky for a 5ghz superpi later, i can post at 5ghz but not boot into windows. ho hum. no complaints though.;)

Be carefull with trying to boot into windows at those speeds, i fubar'd my OS doing so.
I dont have much installed or saved on it at the moment just COD4 really:). Though i have mangled the HAL a few times in the past:p: .
The disk is partitioned so i have XP there to pull anything important over and server2k8 seems to recover well too, i do take your point its prolly not clever in the long run:D.
So, has anybody had their E8600 long enough to find out about degradation? My E8400 degraded, but stopped after a while - nothing too severe. I'm wondering if perhaps the newE0 stepping might minimize degradation?
Anybody?
Real Temp seems to provide more accurate temp reading on the E8600 than CoreTemp. I detect sensor issues with coretemp and everest
Running 4Ghz at low vcore is nice and i can find no real gains for me at 4.5Ghz except that the stutters i saw when running 3DMark06 disappeared completely in proxycon. That may or may not make a difference in real games but it was nice to see some discernable effect other than just higher scores:).
Mines running with a 266 strap at 1.19v @ 4GHZ - wierd cause when it ran with everythign stock it read @ 1.25v!!!
~Bex
realtemp givin me 30c distance to tjmax 65
everest ,HWmonitor,coretemp0.99.2 givin me 40c
which to beleive
got mine yesterday... still sitting in the box... ill put it in this weekend..

any thoughts???
i been running prime 95 on this chip every chance i get, here's an interesting run, just as impressed with my mobo as the chip
strap is auto, 1.25vcore LLC off, cpu pll set to 1.5, vtt set to 1.1, NB set to 1.1. everything else auto, cpu features off.
the chip is good for 440x10 1.325 also 24/7 prime 95 13.5 hours
Nice clocks rattle though ya board overvolts big time on these settings eg PLL 1.5 is about 1.75 in reality, NB 1.1 volts is 1.4 or more in reality... so time to adjust them settings...
small chart for the P5Q dlx, with later biosses some have corect ram voltages , others it all stays the same :

i thought it only overvolts at auto? dam thats crazy my temps arent even that hot, wouldnt it run hotter with that pll voltage ? nb temps report 33c
runs into bios very quick to change settings lmao,
Try to avoid FPO# Q822A438..
Had one; series 2V82320, VID 1.2500, needed 1.28V for 4GHz, 1.37V for 4.2GHz, 1.5V for 4.4GHz (CPU-Z v1.46) & than it still wouldn't do more than 3 minutes Prime95 small FFT's.
Didn't get very warm though.. under load about 12C cooler than my A435.
i changed settings accordingly and it booted right to same speeds without issue and i fired up prime again, i'll let it run another 12 hours or so lol.
Jaredpace and Pntgrd are correct. Need to look at the correct Tjunction value.
