i think so
it does like 3.2-3.4ghz on 1.30-1.40v
so it depends, i have heard it will do 3ghz with minor voltage bumps

Tony could you run Winrar bech thanks
Also when i get the 9850 be i wont post any spi results just like you :))
too much huzzle around pi and it really aint the speedo meter.
also does the ballistix 8500 models work on 1066mhz ? thought i havent got them running yet on that divider using 113 bios on k9a2 plat.
Oh btw kte screened 3.1ghz on other thread with his 9850 be :)
Here is x264 HD Benchmark

Congratz!
Tony,
How much of a performance increase over 800 ddr2? ( I just bought 2x2g OCZ :yepp: )
Will OCZ be able to release 1066 ddr2 that runs at 1.8 V? Will memory have the extra paging capability?
Nice job on the phenom. Could you run some SciMark 2.0 benchmarks? I am more interested in number crunching than gaming benchmarks.
Thanks
You would hope it would be significant considering AMD seems to have focused on memory bandwidth so much.
anyways, wicked overclock. Hopefully the 45nm shrink will give us a 3.5GHz SKU, give Intel a serious run for its money!
on the other hand, denabs gonna be here after nehalem huh, GG AMD.
unfortunatly my 9850 is not being so friendly! :(
WEll I haven't gotten too down and dirty with it, but..
on air:
2.7 on stock vlts (1.3), (multi adjustments)
(same using small htt bump from a 13 multi.)
And doesn't seem to respond well to voltage, so the likelyhood of it seeing 3ghz on water is looking low.
This is awesome. I never thought the Phenoms were all that great, until now.
Dude above your Avatar looks like the Pope on Dope:rofl:
So which is a better mobo, the DFI or Giga 790FX?
@Tony could you please tell me what the CPU-NB Vlotage setting in PWM is for and what its function is please? Also what kind of relevance does it have on clocking Phenom with the DFI 790FX:confused:
Great Thread!Good too see B3 OCs well :).Now ,knowing AMD,they will tweak the hell out of B3 until Shanghai arrives in Q3/Q4.We may even see 2.8Ghz 125W chips before 45nm parts ship.
Sunday update:
Got a small amount of time today, so decided to run stock vcore and see how high I can clock the CPU, currently first test is at 3GHZ CPU and 2.5GHZ NB, 4GB 8000Plats at 1.9V DDR2 1000 5-5-5-15.
Water temp in my loop is 8C and the phenom is puring along with temps reported in AOD at 26.5C load.
Now I know my water temps are pretty cold, but we should get a relative idea about how high this CPU should clock and at what voltage.
Also im 1500+ words into a guide for Phenom, for those looking to learn how the CPU is different to Athlon and how to clock it. Its not overly technical and should explain most of the basics and the rules you have to abide by.
Regards benches, guys I have limited time, I will do my best...I will add some stuff to the article and post some here.
T
Air cooling would be biased also, I have a workshop outside the house that is a LOT cooler than the house temps most see...
Presently its around 14C in the shop here air temps.
Update:
Everest stability test ran 1 hr at 3000MHZ CPU and 2500MHZ NB stock voltages, pushed to 3125 now CPU and still 2500MHZ NB again on stock vcore. Seems stable with 30C load temps ;)
More soon
Very nice stuff Tony !
Its really good to see someone spend so much time on Phenom, usually when everyone is having fun with Intel chips.
3GHz on stock vcore is sweet. Maybe AMD did more than just fixing the TLB bug on these new revisions.
BTW Tony, i remember reading your post somewhere that using 2.2V + for VDIMM kills these chips, any more info about that ?
