you might be spot on with your diagnosis!:)

Guys, please!...you're all gone way OT. Gigabyte based threads have for awhile now just grouped DDR3 and DDR2 boards together...the bios are not as different as you might think, memory timings are a little different and how the bios behaves, but the DDR3 and DDR2 versions are basically the same and made from the same basic platform/template.
So i don't understand the need to be creating separate threads. Now to get back to things....here is a brand new X48T-DQ6 review:http://www.overclockersclub.com/revi...byte_x48t_dq6/
bios + info,
I would presume that bios releases would occur at the same time for these similar motherboard category ranges?
Can anyone please tell me when they will bring out new bios for these boards?
Hey guys!
First time poster, Be gentle.Been following this link a while now, I'm a noob with this board and never had a Sapphire 3870X2 or any ATI cards before. So I have a few questions
1. Whats the best way to OC the GPU, apps,drivers,etc........
2. in the bios(i have F6) I try to up my FSB, and it ups the mem also? How do I get around this? Or lower the mem speed as I have the G-skill 1066 and think they can't OC well at all. mem timings 5-5-5-15-T2 V2.2
Couple things you should know I came from the failed GA-680SLI-DQ6 Ver2 board, so I'm comfy in the bios. There's just way to much stuff in there, also I'm used to clocking the Nvidia based GPU'S so totally blind on the ATI stuff.

Any help,
Thank You in advance!!!!
Hello all!
I am a noob to this board and in the middle of a new build. I should receive the last few things to get my frag box together from the brown truck today. I can't wait to get her all put together. I hope I can get some help from everyone getting her overclocked.
You can check my specs in my sig.
Thanks!!!
first you can OC the driver...i say that with nvidia in mind and i expect ATI would allow the same with their driver.
next, OC the GPU itself but more heat will be produced...you might need higher PCIe voltage to support that overclocking of the GPU
last way to OC the video card is increasing your PCIe bus speed....i wouldn't go to high here...i would try up to about 108 or 109 mhz...doing this means you overclock the entire PCIe bus and everything that lives off that bus.
definitely drop your memory divider...it is very simple way to keep from overclocking your memory beyond specs.Quote:

if you are talking about the X48 bios then you haven't seen a DFI X38/X48 bios to compare that against...DFI's bios will burn all your circuit breakers up in your brain:rofl:Quote:

Finally got the setting down or getting them learned I should say.... Never knew there was so many OC options for the GPU in this board, I got into 3.8 with 475 FSB the CIA2 setting was stopping me from booting over 3.400.
tried to boot into 500FSB but no love yet, want to max out this E6750 as I can then move on to my Q6600 chip.
So ran 3Dmark06 got16,842 so far in XP32bit any help taking this chip further up would be greatly appreciated!!
When I drop them I have the choices of like 2.00A 2.66A, but it then repeats but with a D or C after the numbers. Never seen it setup like this before, way to high of a learning curve here:rolleyes:.Quote:

Again thanks for the help!!
here is an excellent chart to describe memory dividers...this should help...chart is compliments of SUPERSHANKS
Thanks Ace!
OK booting into 3.8 @ FSB/475 need help with the settings to go higher here(4.00). I.E. stuff to turn off, any specific stuff.
Settings I've tried have not worked have the mem +.25 just before the red/ CPUv 1.475 /(G)MCH .100 /FSB .20 /PCI-E.20 /CPU and MCH scew con normal.
I'm just missing something obvious to others, but not me....... Again Thanks :)
a Q6600 is difficult to get to 4.0 ghz and also be P95 stable...the highest i could get my Q6600 was to about 3.980 Ghz...BUT...that was NOT P95 stable.
Anybody is using 4x2gb ram @1080 or higher freq on this board?
Ok guys have my system built and am not having any luck getting it overclocked. It is actually saying it is running at 1.60ghz on the Q6600. I hate to be a pain in the ass but I need to know step by step process getting her overclocked. It is my first build from the ground up and need help with the rest.
I want to get her to 3.00ghz and leave it that way for awhile. I have seen that is not to hard to archive and have a cooler just need some help from you guys.
Please Please!!!
Thanks in advance
Thanks for everyones help.
Figured it out.
Yeah well, if you're given all the answers how will you learn?
getting snooty doesn't help your cause.
if you go here Supershanks has an excellent guide in overclocking the X48T model (DDR3) which will be very close in voltage settings except for the memory timings:
I have a GA-X48_DQ6 for almost a week and im happy with it.
For setup see sig.
Settings:
8.5*500 = 4.250 mhz
Vcore 1.4125 in bios
Vdimm 2.15v
Vmch 1.85v
Vfsb 1.20v
DDR1000 @ 5-5-5-15
Attachment 79841
The E8500 with batch Q813A380 is a nice one ! The only thing i miss with this mobo is voltage readings and OS based overclocking control of the vfsb and vmch. Very stable and very good built quality.
Here is c/p of my issues with X48-DS5 mentioned in other post:
Configuration:
- Gigabyte x48-ds5
- q6600 which works on p35-ds4 at stock voltage on 333x9
- tru 120 extreme
- 2x2gb ballistix 800mhz 4-4-4-12 2.1v
- 2x 3870x22
- pc power and cooling 750w
- vista x64
- EIST, C1E, no execute memory, TM2 disabled
Situation:
- prime95 on stock settings works fine
- 333x9 crashes in prime95 almost instant making restart, or crashes after 10 minutes if i set memory to 5-5-5-15 800mhz
- tried Kingmax 2x2gb, no help from them
Tried:
- Memory at 2.3v
- mch and fsb +0.1v
- loadline calibration settings
- cpu at 1.3v (more is not needed, set top of the post)
Thanks for any help.
Found a problem.
Removed second 3870x2, now it passes regularly. Who to blame here? PSU or Gigabyte? I'll chose Gigabyte because 750w is more than enough.
I wouldn't be too sure about that, 2 of the 3870x2's would take an aweful lot of power to run. I would personally lean toward psu before mobo. Is there any way you could get ahold of a bigger psu, just for a day even, to test it out?
Edit - I looked at a review of the 3870x2 at Anandtech and a single one uses 290 watts, under load.
On my system (see signature below) I recorded 1010W power draw on the power supply with a Kill-A-Watt during heavy 3dMark06 tests like the clouds test. So I would say no, 750W is not enough, and I have a Thermaltake 1000W sitting waiting to be installed when I have a minute (I'm going to put in a fixed drain plug too!)
Upgrade your power supply and my guess is it'll stabilize.
I am having trouble with the SMbus on the GA-X48T-DQ6. BIOS F5D, symptoms are:
1. Running cpuid.com HWMonitor 1.09 occasionally only shows the machine name and no data. Running it again almost always fixes it.
2. Running Everest 4.50.1330 while connected to the machine on Remote Desktop, with the OSD enabled for every 5 seconds, will eventually lock the machine up.
Anybody else experience SMbus related issues?
Wow. that's huge .Quote:
