Asus Maximus Formula and Yorkfield. Use hair dryer or heat gun ;)

When Kingpin's Dragon pot hit -60C, system booted fine. In Windows and under 3DMark06 -150C was no problem at all.
Sampsa: I did not know you people from Finland enjoyed Heinekken. ;)
Lucky the P5E3 WS Pro likes the cold and yorky :)
Sampsa, LOL hair dryer... never leave home without one :D
Geez, you guys have had your share of bad luck.
Sorry to hear it worked out that bad, i understood humidity was causing plenty of condensation problems as well.
If it rains it poors. :(
What was the reason for firing up that Striker? Running SLI?
No real surprise this board was causing some headache i have to say.
Good to hear you are prepping that P5E, booting into windows at -103C at 5590MHz is a very nice starting point.
Good luck and don't forget to have fun along the way.
Can't wait for the new scores!:D
Heh, so it seems like a not only rare issue - coldboot problems with Maximus Formula and Blitz Extreme while Penryn in LGA...
I had those problems too, one week ago - no boot when negative temperatures [DI-benching] [not like -50°C coldboot, just like 0°C - on-the-fly -70°C was OK, but any reboot was impossible... - the same Blitz Extreme two weeks earlier was running fine with LN2, boot @ -150° etc], after hours of fighting the solution was: use Giga X38-DQ6 DDR2 - no problems at all :yepp:, boot @ -78°C without any issues.
[results will be posted later ;), although it was "just" a ~4,2GHz air CPU, not a 4,8GHz monster...]
It's good if it is "only" BIOS-related but who cares WHAT it is [until they release adequate BIOS], the result is [in my case] DDR2 instead of DDR3 and Windows installed on Maximus used with Giga [that made my 16M look so crappy... :(].
Laying in the corner: Maximus Formula, beyond was Blitz Extreme; both useless in that case.

Like sampsa said, it worked similarly for us :(
ASUS should be ashamed :(Quote:
Bios 1401 for Striker, LEAVES the York's multi at ONLY x6 no matter if you change it or not..... :(
But then again I can't really remember when/if the last time 680i was actually easy and fun to bench with...

i think that a and b is completely the same problem when we had with cedar mills and prescots . cpu-mobo acts together in that case . while one cpu has this cold with the mobo ,it does not have it with another mobo or have at different temps ; and the same batch cpu could not have this problem with the same mobo . this cold was totally depended on specific cpu-mobo relation . if your case is the same , i dont think bios modification will help  ,try different mobo or cpu
Definitely not the first time or reason for them to be ashamed.Quote:

P5W DH Deluxe...only 5 memory timings in BIOS, Locked ( Upwards ) Multiplier for all Extreme Edition CPUs after BIOS v1601 { Multiple times reported issue, ignorance gained :D }, Limited multi on commando, capacitor syndrome...worst tech support ever...oh well... the list is probably big enough to fit the max post char count :p:
