I agree i personally think that that a small donation should be mandatory.He has put so much time and effort into this so we don't have to shell out on vista.I dont see a problem in giving him somthing back for his time.:toast:Quote:

Judging by your comments there certainly aren't any sort of strict requirements put into place by Microsoft on you(r team), the lack of which is totally out of character for MS. I hate to be a pissant, but it's not really something anyone should be worrying about. As long as nn_step and his militantly anonymous development team don't charge for their work, there's not really anything Microsoft can do besides force them to pull it from their site.
As for us, the end-users, all we have to worry about is when we can get it. If the development gets through beta, download it. If it's stable and compatible with your system, install it. If it does what you want it to do and you like it, use it. If any of these steps fail, buck up and buy a copy of Vista. Or, better yet, learn to love Linux.
nn_step will look out for himself and his team, no doubt. There's really no need for anyone else to concern themselves with licensing and whatnot.
Well, no. Installing software is an act of trust, especially an OS. The questions I have asked aren't even close to unreasonable and I am doing so in a non-confrontational way. I am just asking because I am curious. When I go through the various posts, I notice there is actually precious little in the way of hard detail about XSOS (other than claims about what it can do). Therefore I ask a few basic 101-style questions, as anyone not willing to install random programs and OS's "just because" would certainly do in my place (or so I would hope).Quote:

And yes, they do have stipulations involved here to try and protect themself if nn_step decided to say FU and blast this with a key all over the internet.
He's dealing straight with them and they recognise this fact and are dealing straight with him.
Not common in todays business world but it does happen.

Hence my curiosity on this point, a point I would assume the XSOS design team (nn_step + ?) would recognize as critical for many people unfamiliar with their efforts. This really is the simplest question to answer. What specifically does Microsoft gain from this?
